If you're on over 12 points they must have been to at least one away game? Why would they do that and then not go to Germany? baffles me

Don’t underestimate the cost of Germany during a tournament for 10+ days.

A lot of folk simply won’t be able to afford to do 3 games.

  2. Who has decided on a base in Germany for the Euros?

    And where?

Have you picked a venue city, or an outlying town somewhere?

I’ve seen some mention booking in and around Düsseldorf given it is close to a cluster of stadiums. Still a fair distance to Berlin, Munich or Hamburg though!

Personally, I’ve not booked anything. You’ve as much chance ending up in a city surrounded by 20,000 English fans.

Do we know when the cut-off is likely to be?

I'm guessing after the March games which would bump me to 11 points (assuming we have a home game in March) which might be just under the required number. Circumstances dictate I am unlikely to get an away game in, if there were any, before then.

I think people expect tickets to be sold before then. Meaning cut off will be after the Nov fixtures.

The issue we have is that IF the SFA get 16% of the stadiums, the SSC will not necessarily get 16%.

They don't have to tell us how many tickets they require.

Could be as much as 10% going to the SSC , we don't know.

Would be great if all 12 point got tickets and I don't want to be a party pooper but I would be very suprised of that was the case.

    Again its just my opinion.

If there were anyone keeping a keen eye on our euro2020 allocations, it would tell you how many of the 16% went to SSC allocations for Hampden and Wembley.

I think both were operating at 25%, so would be stadium capacity * 0.25 and then 16% of that.

    A question about the ballot....

I have applied for 3 tickets for a lot of matches.

Are you only successful if 3 tickets are allocated, or could they just allocate 1 ticket out of 3 requested?

I think for any successful allocations you get from then UEFA ballot that you get the number of tickets that you requested for the game.

Word of warning - I’m not sure if you have SSC points to qualify for tix? - but if you end up with tickets for another game that’s the day of a Scotland game, it will block you from then being able to get Scotland tickets.

Going by the above posts, I take it that (me 13 points) would be able to get a ticket for each game and not a single ticket for 1 game only, cheers.

If they follow the precedent they set for EURO2020, you would be entitled to a ticket for each game. The points tally basically treats each game individually and starts top down as normal.

UEFA make no reference to it being nationwide, just in and around the host cities.

    https://www.uefa.com/euro2024/news/0286-19407e1254d7-16b5c6fe87dd-1000--public-transport-included-for-euro-ticket-holders/

"The agreement means that every match ticket holder will be entitled to a 36-hour travel card to use on public transport in and around the ten host cities at no extra cost from 06:00 on the relevant matchday until 18:00 on the following day"

"The travel card will include public transport at no extra cost in all of the ten host cities and surrounding areas"

Yep. Pretty certain that it’s being mis-reported by STV and others.

As you say - it has limited use unless your starting location is within the region of the host city.

My Irish neebors had a BBQ (20 degrees here) for the big game.

I stopped watching at 17-0 to go the the kitchen and drink a few beers with a couple of Irish lads who weren't interested.

My (ignorant) take is that Scotland just don't have the mentality. They might talk a good game, but the Irish have called them out on their big-talk shite, and they're not wrong.

    Get Townsend TF

I don’t know the specifics about the structures of Scottish rugby but I know there’s a lot of debate and criticisms. Posh boys sport, private school centric, and so on.

One thing to note is that Ireland with a smaller population has 2.5x as many registered players participating in rugby across the country compared to Scotland.

Swap us with England and I'd be gutted not making the semis.  Once we've made the semis we've two games to win the fucking thing against teams who'd had to beat England  South Africa, NZ, France to get there whereas we'd be relatively fresh by comparison. England so far have beat Argentina, Dog n Duck and next up Fiji.  Its a farce.

The draw for the group stages was December 2020 ffs - that's mental!

You’re kidding yourself with envy if you think we could’ve done any damage.

We got trounced by Japan 4 years ago and have lost 2 of the last 4 against Argentina. Being envious of England’s draw just reeks of a lack of acceptance that we’re just not good enough.

And Ireland have their QF hoodoo to think about. Ireland are a great team and they have shown that they can beat NZ, but the All Blacks can, and often do, win games that they don't deserve to. I think whoever wins that one will win the WC. Hope so anyway because they will probably be playing against England in the final.

Surely SA would be favourites to make the final on that side.

Hopefully an Ireland v SA final.

  11. 45 minutes ago, ThistleWhistle said:

We’re ranked higher than England yet they won't play anyone with a realistic chance of winning it until the semis.  We'd have had to beat 3 potential winners probably to even get there.

I can see England winning it to be honest- they're skint and this tournament has the credibility of WWE.

I’ve got bored of all the moans about the draw.

At the end of the day - if you want to be the best, you go and beat the best. Otherwise, what are we complaining about? Annoyed that we’ve been denied an easy route to a QF to fluff up our egos and then get knocked out?

Even the commentary toward the end saying some shite about Scotland needing to make a go of the 6nations since the WC was always gonna be difficult. Well, why should we expect to be any better in 6N considering Ireland have just horsed us.

Rugby refs used to be able to swing a game each way. It’s not so much now but a couple of swing decisions like the Irish guy stepping in touch in his 22 not given just drain the spirit. Or a high tackle not yellow. 🙁

this republic and kingdom province team are still my favourites for world champions if they get passed Scotland

impressive Irish turnout in the stadium.

Given our line out performance, I’m not sure it’d have made much a difference.

    Excuses.

Ireland much the better team. Scotland squandered chances to get points in the board.

Agreed. The complaint is legitimate and refs always seem to favour the bigger team in rugby but it’s not why we’re losing.

Scotland are just soft as fuck.

The longer and longer that our first visit to the 22 went on without progress or a serious threat of scoring, I just felt it was a big moment that was setting the tone. Ireland stood firm.

Just got the new email from the sfa. Thought they might have mentioned the pick up point for tickets in Lille.

They’ll still be swithering on which 5* spa hotel to book with all the £3 booking fees they’ve accumulated.

Looks like 2nd of December is the date to wait until you can try for ticket's

Correct. Don’t know anything until 2nd December - but it is as yet unclear what that means in terms of allocation to the SSC and any separate specific allocations to Scotland fans via UEFA.

Well there's certainly no "Follow My Team" option right now - the portal just opened and I went straight in.

Was reading a bit more about it last night.

The FAQ says there’s another sales phase after qualifying and draw - 2nd Dec.  Their wording is open to interpretation as to whether this is tickets that go specifically via national association, or ticket for ‘follow my team’ via UEFA, or a mix of both.  Bit of debate about it on Twitter as well but it’s really not clear.

That actually seems to me a fairer way of doing it. Everybody going in the Travel Club would get a chance to see 1 Match and those with loads of Points would see 2.

    PERFECT!

Precedent was set over the past 20+ years and followed at the euros2020.

Nobody watching the Ryder Cup? What a first day tonking for the Americans!

Watched a decent chunk of it this morning and a bit less of the afternoon session.

Some fantastic results and performances. McIlroys morning tee shot on 17 was great  Fitzpatrick was on fire in the afternoon  I believe Rahm was very good and Rose saved the day for Bob McIntyre, who had started well in fairness - hopefully he settles into it and gets a win of his own.

Pretty strong line up from Europe in the morning. Captain obviously fancies to try and close it out as early as poss.

It’s tough for those hoping to climb the points ladder though.  I missed an Ireland ticket last year by a point so went home end.  Had I got that I’d have got a Norway ticket this year instead of home end again, and I’d be on 16 points so would get an away ticket for this and 18 points, rather than home again, still on 12 and still having to book flights and hotels while they’re cheap and hoping for tickets.

I didn’t even attempt Cyprus cos I had no idea if I could get a ticket, and by the time I’d find out, well, it’s an island and flights would be too expensive

Still think the system is fair, but they could’ve surely sorted these particular tickets out months ago?

Agree it’s not easy and is definitely taking a bit of sacrifice, expense and goodwill on fans part given the late notice of allocations that we seem to be getting.

After missing our on Euros tickets I’ve got back into more away games after having a dip for a few years.

The Austria friendly last year was enough to secure my Ireland away ticket. Still wasn’t enough for Norway though.

Took the chance that Cyprus allocation would be okay and booked in advance but it still wasn’t cheap. That’s sorted me out for Spain and now France. Not cheap but the system is fair as you say - with the one massive improvement available being for the SFA and countries to sort out allocations quicker. It would be good if this could be tied into the 90 day rule for venues, although even that seems to have some flex in it.
