Yes a total embarrassment. My slaves to the English comment is based on their ripping off English songs and having no patriotism for their own country, Northern Ireland. It must be a miserable existence to have no national identity.

Well, they built a boat that sank, they're famous for that I suppose 🤷

Team is so one dimensional, NIR reading everything that we are trying to do.

These frendlies were the perfect opportunity to try out something different with the team and nope, it's the same old same old pretty much.

Clarke has to be questioned why he hasn't given Christie gametime in CDM, Ferguson not giving much time, Mctominay playing deeper in midfield by looks of thing. Dykes has done hee haw for a while now so why didn't we try out a Tommy Conway type for example in these games as he is scoring more in the same league as him or Hardie even

100% about McTominay and Christie, makes no sense. Get them swapped around

They've also got the big get out clause that their "alleged" main role is preparing players for the first team rather than results. Funny as out of the last three young players to progress (Gilmour, Hickey and Patterson) none of them really played under 21s or 19s. In fact Hickey deliberately chose not to.  Anyway, young players are more likely to get in the first team through club performance rather than under age national teams.

It annoys me when they insinuate that it's about performances rather than results with the youth sides, considering the performances aren't that great in the first place. Also, I would guess that actually qualifying for tournaments and experiencing finals against the best sides are far more beneficial than just turning up for a kick about in the qualifiers

I really don't know what your basing your negative opinion on him from

I think it's because he's had pretty much two full seasons and his scoring record as a striker is only 1 in 4 (he's only got 7 for the season so far, for Bristol)

  5. Lost to Georgia today to go along with the loss to Italy the other day. Why do the SFA persist with the likes of hoofball Stark?

I think we all know that we are second choice to guys like Adams, cooper, Barnes etc. that's obvious or it should be. It's all about wether the player improves our squad and shows good commitment to turning up and trying their best.

Fair enough to Gordon, he's made it clear that he wants to play for England and doesn't really want to compromise on that. Saying that if he wasn't getting picked by England and wanted to use us as a back up option then personally I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Regardless of what Gordon says in that interview if he wasn't getting picked by England by the age of 26 and it wasnt looking likely he ever would then theres a good chance he would be considering us as an option.

Bit unfair on Cooper, he's been with the setup since u17's

Totally agree with you on Shankland. I think Christie might have a chance of being tried further back since there’s a ton of evidence now from his domestic games that he can be really effective there. I remember him being good defensively for us even when playing higher up - Denmark at home sticks out in particular. Would be great to have that extra option back there along with Gilmour and McGregor either way, since most of our other midfielders are either AMs or box to box.

Scotland U19s won 4-0 v Latvia, not bad as a number of clubs did not let players attend due to it not being an international break. Alfie Bavidge scored a hatrick and Motinikov.

They also lost to Turkey. One of the younger age groups also lost 3-1 to England the other day

I really hope Southampton get promoted. Not just because they have a few Scottish players, but also because their manager is Scottish and seems keen to utilise Scottish talent. It wouldn't surprise me if Martin signed more Scots.

You'd think Scottish managers would have a biased desire to sign Scots, but it so rarely seems to be the case. Moyes never really seems interested in buying Scots. The one he did buy, McFadden, was used sparingly.

He also has no time for Rishi Sunak, so that's also a bonus 👍

Ignore the inevitable reverse snobbery further up the thread, Edinburgh's great, but we just like people to wash occasionally (which is what the weegies above complain about).

Much the same as The Three Sisters but very studenty.
