    Forrest      McGinn    McArthur   Robertson

                         Armstrong/McGregor

                                 Griffiths

i know am gonna get pelted for putting Jack in at RB, but he was a standout there for the U21s, impressed against the Dutch for the full squad, plus he has started the season well with Rangers. And let’s face it, are options there are extremely limited.

Maybe play Tierney at CB alongside Mulgrew, Robertson at LB and bring McGregor to the left.

Still believe Forrest is the best winger we’ve got and works back the way also.

You could have a team of 11 zidanes and still get pelted on here. This is why topics of team and squad selection a perfect stage to rant and get the frustration of our national team off our chests.

  2. Cant believe McTominey is not getting a mention here. He is 6' 4 and very calm on the ball.

I hope they go 4-2-3-1 with

                      mcgregor

Paterson   Souttar  Mulgrew (now berra is out) Tierney

                                 McTominey  Macgregor

    Fraser                Armstrong                Robertson

                                       Griffiths

    But i can see 3-5-1-1

    Mcgregor

    Souttar Mulgrew Tierney

    fraser  McGinn McTominey Macgregor  Robertson

    Armstrong

    Phillips

  3. Griffiths looked well off it yesterday. Maybe it was they way celtic were playing but he seemed well short of match sharpness, they sharpness we need.

read Mcleish was concerned too about lack of game time.

    Phillips it is

Jack Hendry has become the new whipping boy already I see. He has potential, but desperately needs an experienced Centre Back in there to help him and learn from, much like Souttar with Berra, who has massively improved his game since Berra arrived. Hendry played very well on his Scotland debut he has pace, height, strengths, good on the ball but needs to be more aggressive needs to improve his concentration and positional play, all things that can be taught or come with experience.

Totally agree! Hendry was playing for Dundee, then suddenly launched into a champions league campaign, on the wrong side of central defence and with another young defender and then a very poor defender.

Souttar was very suspect at hearts when he first arrived, but playing with Berra has become one of the best defenders in the league.

Hendry needs an experienced player beside him, and also to play on the right side of defence.

He could still be a good scotland defender

    Confirmed. Undisclosed fee.

Much better move for McGinn. Will play more for villa. When you look at the examples of players going to the old firm over the years and just lately... Christie, Morgan, Docherty and soon hendry. young scottish players need to stay away from the old firm

Sorry, not saying he isn't suitable. Just down-playing his potential a little. That said I do imagine him scoring 15+ goals (maybe many more) in the Championship which would start to put him on McLeish's radar. Who else do we have?

This over-long video shows you his goals from last season:

you can see how incredibly cool he is in front of goal. I'm playing him down as it was all in league 2 but that instinct in front of goal translates anywhere. Would certainly get Scotland loads of penalties 😉

I hope he does it. I really do. Prolific in the Championship and then a call up. If he had the midfield to play him in he'd score.

I would give him a chance, seems like a willing runner and giving our options... i mean people were talking about kris boyd coming back into the set up.

Though if he does not score a hatrick against belgium or portugal hes oot

I genuinely feel very positive. All the good things that have happened to Croatia may be happening to us. The future is very bright. Ok, I'm not expecting world cup finals but I expect qualifications over the next 10 years.

Middleton, Johnston, Gilmour, Morgan, McTominay, Burke are coming through across the midfield that's already fairly strong. Henderson's future looks bright and who knows about Gauld. If several of these make it then they'll be joining McGregor and Armstrong and maybe force them out.

I think there's a bit too much pressure on McKenna as there's not huge number of young centre backs coming through. But if he makes it and Bates comes good we will changing our outlook.

Ok, I know It's all 'what Ifs' but I'm taking a moment to think positive. (My hero's just gone into yellow on thr TdeF so i'm on a high.)

And i know I've not mentioned the striker situation!

Lots of midfielders there, maybe levein was onto something...

    4-6-0 anyone?

    New spain

I get where you are coming from re Bosman and EU freedom of movement but i'm not sure it will turn out to be as simple as that

Likely not. I just think all this blame on the SFA is a bit much, yes grass routes level is way behind the "big" nations but i feel the clubs need to be looked at also for not giving young players a chance.

  9. Croatian teams actually play their youth, they dont go loading players from english premiership reserve teams of sign players from fleetwood town and cambridge united. They give their young players a chance to develop and thats the difference.

Clubs here do not do that, they would rather sign some random foreign player, english lower league player or load a player rather than give youth a chance.

We have to find a way to stop that happening, maybe brexit will do that....

Just glanced at the Celtic friendly update and saw this comment on Mikey Johnstone:

"Johnston is on a different level

The winger can breeze past players in a way few Scottish stars have in a long time"

Sounds like he's on fire. Only a friendly but exciting to hear.

He needs to go out on loan to get game time, I think he does have a lot of talent but needs game which he wont get a celtic.

Ralston went to united last season not sure how he did but again another one who needs to go on loan

We have to. All teams in the 3 team groups had to arrange friendlies or UEFA would arrange them for us.

It did mean only a few teams were available and all those available from Europe were from the top 2 divisions.

could we not have played fiji or Guam? Maybe india, just someone who wont slaughter us before we start our campaign

  12. Does anyone else think McGinn will just waste away on the celtic bench.

Look at the midfield - Brown, Ntcham Mcgregor, rogic, Bitton they are also looking at another guy harry wilson. He will be lucky to start 10 games for them.

Celtic seem to be a graveyard for young scottish player at other clubs. I see Morgan and Christie going the same way. Scott Allen is exhibit A on this.

Northern Ireland have a lot of players in league 1 in England but at least they are playing!!

Yeah i mentioned this earlier about border crossings for cheap internal flights, never had any major issue with the guards though, only once when i had my kilt on was one guy a bit ott, but mostly good experiences.

I had a stupid idiot who kept on trying to say my passport was fake because she had never seen a UK passport before, i was over an hour trying to convince her. Eventually her Boss came over and asked what the issue was, and i was on my way within 5 mins. Idiot

  14. Couple of travelling tips...

its cheap to fly internally in the USA but expensive if you fly into or out of canada (stupid taxes) best bet is to get a bus across the border (yes there is a mega bus) and then fly. Eg, Megabus from toronto to buffalo, then fly from there. Or Fly to NY and megabus to montreal

    Much cheaper to do.

Only issue is US border guards are total A-holes and can give you unnecessary bother just because they think they are " protecting the borders" Only downfall i can see, otherwise should be a good WC, hopefully we make it.

Beer is cheap in the US too
