  1. Top idea and great point on mortgage - no need.

I've done a fair chunk of America and highly recommend it, so many different things state to state but best thus far has been Texas (which you could tie in with Mexico).

Done 14 weeks in South East Asia couple years back - cheap, cheerful and lots to do as well. South America is quality too and brasil is fantastic!

Europe you've done so no point going over old ground. That ferry option mentioned sounds amazing!

Sadly now my travels are down to 7/14 days at a time - but once I hit the magic 30 i'll be trying to take 6months to a year off to live like I'm 18 again!

    Enjoy

  2. has!!!!???? I don't think it is a requirement that a public meeting place has to be arranged for away fans. Feel free to arrange one yourself and see who turns up though :ok:

and as for the "MASSES" I am fairly certain those with a ticket will be tucked up in pubs keeping warm until near kick off time, and those without will be staying put to watch it on TV...

It's london not Antartica! Warmer down here (been living here for 2 years) and from memory November was a light jumper effort!

  3. They could give tickets away for free and there would still be moaning from some folk on this forum!!

Pricing all looks very fair for international football. Good to see a very decent rate for kids too and a kick back for SSC members. Happy Days!

  4. Fairly scunnered.

Had always wanted to do a full campaign, went to every Away and all homes (except Gib), spent thousands - had a cracking time but alas - no avail.

Struggling to justify the next campaign, or find a desire to go to it.

  5. It's got nothing to do with glorious failure mate.

It's about having respect for your opponent and realising that a draw would be a great result away from home against a decent side.

I'm not suggesting we shouldn't be trying to win the game. Of course we should. We should also avoid being complacent and arrogant because that would no doubt come back to bite us on the @rse.

Difference between arrogance and finally showing some ambition. Fed up with glorious failure we should be calling to win this game, for too long pessimistic so and so's such as yourself have spouted the 'take a draw before the game' nonsense.

It's a must win if we want to qualify. Yes there are other options but I'd rather not go into the Germany game needing a 6 goal swing and 4-0 victory.

  6. Agreed on your physical point

If we play like we did in Glasgow then quite frankly we (Ireland) deserve to be beaten

However I do think ye will see a different style from us than ye did in glasgow (more ball on ground and less physical) - as an Ireland fan - I will be fuming if we serve the same tripe as we did in Glasgow.

Must win game for us - time for us to put up or shut up...no excuses

As for who is the better team...that will be decided at the end of the group when the placings are decided - they rarely lie

Agree on your last point there Green Tide! At the end of the day, this thread shows what our biggest issue has been for years now... we need to be more ambitious, with all due respect Ireland aren't a world class side (neither are we) so we have no reason not to be playing to win in games such as this.

Point is fine IF we win in Georgia, a place we've lost previously and who kept us to a 1-0 at home. I'd much rather go to Tbilisi with less pressure and 3 pts.

  7. Acceptable? You've got a short memory mate. Ok, we've improved a lot since the last campaign but we're not exactly world beaters who can expect to turn up and expect to beat teams like Ireland away from home.

A draw would keep us two points ahead of the Irish and would be a great result. I would prefer a win obviously but as long as we don't lose I fancy us to finish the group ahead of Ireland at least.

Why can't we expect to beat them?

What a shocking attitude. Better team, manager and performances. Must win - should win - can win.

  8. No no no!

This is a must win. We do not want to be going into the last game think shoulda woulda coulda... the pessimism is unbelievable. Playing well, playing as a team and more quality than Ireland have - we should win. End of story!

    Alba gu Brath!

  9. Why is Scott Brown being brought into this?

Fletcher is out on the lash for 5 days drinking buckets of sansom/red bull with lady boys on each arm shortly before the biggest game of the campain yet.

Broony - I couldn't care less about. He wasn't about to represent Scotland, If i were a Celtic man then aye, i'd have questioned it.

Fletcher hasn't set the world alight in a Scotland shirt and should be scoring many, many more goals for club and country. Jordan Rhodes deserves a proper chance and naismith is more of a nusiance than Fletch will ever be.

  10. Trainers all day!

Used to love wearing the boots but just end up too heavy after aday walking back and forth to the carry oot shop! Pair of gutties and kilt socks and yer winning!

  11. I remember I'd just sparked a cigar and got chatting to a young lad next to me (from montrose from memory), seen it was a goalkick so we turned to talk to each other - only just turned back round when the ball hit the back of the net!!!

Don't know if it was the same for anyone else, but there was a split second where all the scotland fans looked at each other (felt much, much longer) before erupting!!

will never forget the french after the game applauding us for our exemplary behaviour. Policemen taking off their hats and randoms congratulating us in the streets. Fantastic!

I remember saying to one lad 'if you had Zidane still, you'd have won - best player in the world' - his response? 'non, non - McFadden best player in the world' :ok:

  12. And there lies the issue...

We have a large majority who only sing when their winning and only show up when we are winning too. Seen it with Smith/McLeish time in charge.

That's the problem. Gloryhunters - not woman and children who want to come to see THEIR country, or ticket prices, or the price of a pie or anything else the new-era TA like to bump their gums about.

Support through thick and thin - that's a real fan. Not picking and choosing big games depending on our performances.

  13. Been to a fair number down the years and since moving to England will probably try and attend more lower league matches.

By far the best 'away' day I've had was the Northern Skrill Play-off final last year between Altrincham & Guiseley. In with the home fans to see them win 2-1. Cracking wee stadium with plenty of noise in it and a few decent pubs before hand. Great day oot!

My local team now would be Fulham so may look at a few of their games before the season end. QPR & Wimbledon aren't far away either.

  14. Nowhere near the same scale. Nowhere near.

If we follow your logic then we do hee haw about anything ever. I'm proud that most scots are a bit more politicised than that.

    You kidding?

I was in Brazil last summer - Rio decked out for the WC, favelas full of absolute poverty. How is it not on the same scale??? All across Brasil I seen shocking poverty and many 'F*ck FIFA' notes scribbled on walls, pavements and the odd car!

  15. To be honest fair city - it was just banter from JS. Your post comes close to personal abuse. Says a bit more about you than him if you ask me.

Agreed, an absolute disgrace for using 'special needs' in your argument.

That's primary school era that, nothing funny about special needs and should never be classed as banter same with 'spaz' etc - plenty other great words you could use than these i.e. fud, khunt or walloper

  16. Rodgers is despereate to replicate Shankly.

Some of the stuff he comes out with is ludicrous and cringeworthy to the highest degree. Talks about stature and history of a club yet backed a Racist and a proven biter on the pitch. Tosser - for the chop from the kop by end of Jan

Liverpool are a mid table team, have been for years (bar last) and will continue to be. Hope they get pumped on Sunday at United :-))
