bdgsct - I agree with what you say here……
A big contrast between what Carver + Clarke have to say about Newcastles 4 players (H.Barnes E.Anderson T.Livramento A.Gordon)
How I see it, I do think H.Barnes had committed to Scotland for the Qualifiers in Sept/Oct/Nov but his foot/toe injury in August put paid to these games and S.Clarke is remaining tight lipped about the situation and now keeping his cards very close to his chest! And quite rightly so, don’t want Engerland + Southgate stirring it up again. Interestingly, I watched a G.Southgate + K.Trippier interview from back in Sept I think it was and G.Southgate was very diplomatic - spoke about Players being linked to 2 or 3 Countries but was non committal about H.Barnes or E.Anderson. And in a way He and Clarke have to be this way when the press are probing with question after question. They don’t want to give the Players false hope and/or damage the current squad of Players they have at that current time.
Back to H.Barnes, we can only hope he comes back from injury soon and gets called up for our March friendlies, he would 100% add to / improve our attacking options. As for E.Anderson I’m not sure we’ll ever know the correct answer for him leaving the Scotland Camp?
With him out injured at Newcastle at the moment (back injury I think) but if he was fully fit and on form it would be tough for him to dislodge a Midfielder from our current squad (McGinn McSauce McGregor Gilmour Christie Armstrong McLean Ferguson) Would he be selected for the 23 man squad - Who knows ??
Tino Livramento now back on the bench for Newcastle, with Burns back at LB and Trippier at RB. I personally think he’s committed with England and preying for that call up for the Senior Squad but if he goes cold between now and March there’s a chance Southgate doesn’t call him up and just maybe just maybe we could come in at the 11th hour and turn him. Would he improve our current squad, absolutely!!
Whilst we’re on the subject here, A.Gordon as far as I’m aware has never hinted or said anything about switching allegiance? Just the press adding fuel to the fire IMO - Will he be called up for Southgate’s next Squads, I’m thinking No…….
If R.Sterling doesn’t even make his Squad and J.Grealish sits on the bench for games, I can’t see A.Gordon being called up for Engerland anytime soon! Is he better than what we’ve got, with players in current form? Probably I’d say but at this moment I don’t think he’s on S.Clarkes radarAll we can hope for from our current squad of players - they are all fit, in form and ready for the Euro’s when they come round!!
I am also interested who else Carver has hinted at as others as Karlan Grant cannot think of him doing much lately, Binks seems in and out of the Coventry team maybe it's Quansah who would be an exciting prospect or Archie Gray.

Marc Leonard 2 assists and 1 of them being for Kieron Bowie in Northamptons win, fans tweeting about how good Leonard is again, a few articles have him linked with Brighton wanting him moved to a Championship side on loan for the second part of the season with many after him.

Just watched the Steve Clarke sky sports interview posted the other day.
By the sounds of it there's very little likelihood of trying to swing any of the English born players eligible over into the squad. "Open minded" on adding some new up and coming players in but has enough of a task on his hands trying to get a 23 man squad out of the existing player pool.
There is an article for a Newcastle paper dated the 27th in which John Carver mostly talking about Elliot Anderson still being involved and if not for injurys sounds like Harvey Barnes may have already been called up, also that we are still looking at Livramento and Gordon.......and a few others being scouted down south. There is also an article in the mirror that they do not expect Southgate to name any of the named players in the squad and that they could switch for the Euros. Only players I can think of are Luis Binks, Karlan Grant and Jason Steele although Steele I am sure as ruled himself out already for us.

Commentary team praising Patterson on a couple of occasions despite the result for his performance against Man city tonight up against Grealish.
-
Not scoring much and playing a lot out wide but spoke to some Luton fans about Jacob Brown and they are very impressed with him since signing, works hard and always causing problems for defenders according to them.
-
Kieron Bowie scored today v Northampton, but fans again talking about how Brightons on loan Scot Marc Leonard is by far the best player in league 1 and should be playing his football a lot higher.

Don't want to take anything away from him, but aren't at least half of those penalties?
But at least he is scoring, looking in twitter really well rated by fans of Bristol City and other clubs.
-
Tommy Conway scored his 6th of the season last night for Bristol City, 3rd in the last 4 games, and had a spell out this season.
-
Lewis Ferguson was captain again as he led his team to a 2-0 win over Roma, another who's form is excellent at the moment.
-
First half goals for Conway for Bristol City and Michael Mellon Morecombe.

Brilliant passing and possession stats for Gilmour tonight, I get the feeling we need him in our midfield.
Massive praise on twitter, saying he controlled the game, also Chelsea fans crying that they sold him.

Good to see some support for Patterson. He really seems to get it tight on here and it’s absolutely ridiculous. Because Hickey is good, Patterson must therefore be bad. He’s a young defender playing against some of the best players in the world and he’s doing absolute fine. We’re lucky he’s Scottish.
I would say that it is probably more to do with who he played for, why some may not be fans rather than his ability.

Patterson and Cairney outstanding again, Brown lucky to stay on the pitch but rated well otherwise v Man city.
-
Will Jordan Holsgrove play for Olympiakos Apparently Lyon are tracking him, he is continuing to impress on loan at Estoril.
-
A few youngsters on loan doing well in the lower english leagues.
Michael Mellon with another goal on loan at Burnley, rumours have him linked with moves in Jan. Burnley maybe wanting to send him on loan higher up the divisions, League 1 leaders Portsmouth interested.
Rob Apter is up for player of the month in league 2, loan from Blackpool.
Marc Leonard who is permanently getting praise, seen a post from the Cambridge utd media guy claiming he is the best player he ever seen in league 2 and up there in league 1.
-
Goal for Conway for Bristol City.
-
Patterson assist for the last Everton goal.
-
Mctominay, Mcginn,Gilmour, Cairney and Brown last night all receving a lot of praise, not a bad week for Scots in the prem so far this week.

Tom Cairney scores for Fulham.
I wonder if Clarke would consider taking him to the euros if there was a major injury crisis to guys like gilmour and McLean.
Who would be next in line if that was the case?
Cairneys 32 but I doubt he would pass up the chance of going to the euros.
Looking on twitter fans saying he is possibly having his best season and been outstanding lately.
-
Jacob Brown played well against Arsenal on the RW, the manager substituted him and the other 2 forwards at 3-3 and Luton did not really di anything after that, commentary also complimentary of Brown and other forwards.

Apparently a number of sides want Brighton midfielder marc leonard 21 on loan at Northampton has been a stand out in league 1 and was in league 2 last year, Brighton do not want to sell, could be moved to the Championship on loan in Jan Cardiff and Swansea really pushing for the deal apparently.
