Bit of a shame he’s had to drop down to league 1 to get a game but hopefully he’s better off next season for it

Similar with Lewis Fiorini going to league 1 just to get games behind them after having injury problems.

Also just seen Dundee maybe resigning Jon Mccracken on loan from Norwich, had a very good loan in league 2 before getting injured at Accrington Stanley.

I'm not worried too much as of yet but come the march friendlies if our central defender options are not playing anymore than now I'd be getting quite concerned.

      My current summary is

Porteous( reading the Watford forum fans are saying the reason he is being left out is he isn't consistent enough, last season he was a colossus this season he has gone back to the SPL Porteous, he looks a great defender at times but occasional rash tackles, poor positioning & the odd terrible pass have returned to his game.  Also read the Udinese rumour is just that as they have their full quota of non EU players )

Hanley( fit again & a good 2nd half of the season will probably see him make the squad)

    Tierney( injured per norm😪)

Souttar( more out than in the team though let's hope Saturdays impressive performance will lead to him having the chance of establishing himself as a regular starter)

McKenna ( His contractual issue desperately needs solved one way or another as he needs to be playing coming into his peak years )

Cooper( not likely to ever be a regular starting at Leeds again but probably happy to stay due to having long term ties & being club captain . As a consequence he may well have excepted his chances of going to Germany are very slim)

Hendry ( personally never been a fan but he is at least a regular starter for his club)

Quansah(  Not seen the lad kick a ball but the Liverpool fans raving about him, heard he is a mix of Alan Hansen & VVD, that'd do for me!  Before I start getting abused it's a tongue in cheek shout as  this grannie eligible Englishman has played at every level for England & has never even been approached by Scotland as far as I know so calm down boys it sadly won't be happening🤣)

Think Dominic Hyam or anyone else would only have a chance if their was a injury & form crisis but I do think Kenny McLean's apparent ability to play in defence does potentially free up space to risk taking one less central defender & leave space for another attacking preferable wide player.

Only KT is automatic for me, the rest are much of a muchness, form should be the deciding factor but like most I expect Hendry & Porteous if they stay relatively regular in their teams will go .

So it's probably 2 from Hanley, McKenna & Souttar. Much as I like Hanley the other 2 are both better on the ball & younger so if they are playing regularly I'd like to see them selected.

Injury dependent players that may get a look in

Ibane Bowat having a successful season on loan in the Austrian premiership, and solid in the Scotland U21s.

Luis Binks playing well at Coventry.

Michael Rose or Liam lindsay maybe.

  3. Would have loved to see Gauld  either be called up in some friendly games or do what Landon Donovan use to do from the MLS a 6 month loan on the Prem and show how good he is, interestingly designated player in the MLS is not always amazing there are some great players but most are at the end of their careers, lots of players well into their 30s, Johnny Russell is still one.

Also Jordan Holsgrove is pretty much having a similar career path Estoril are now in the portugese league cup final.

Tommy Conway on the scoresheet against West Ham

Playing well for Bristol City & S.Clarke must rate him to have asked him along to a Scotland training camp 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Can see him being a Clarke player works hard, will give defenders lots of problems , with better players around him would probably get a lot more goal, he was getting frustrated at that mehmeti.

  5. Burnleys reporter has posted to twitter saying Michael Mellon will be recalled from his loan at Morecombe and will be sent to a higher club league 1 sides and SPL sides connected.

  6. From what I can tell on limited information or translation but Jordan Holsgrove has Benfica watching him, Joined Olympiakos in the summer on loan at Estoril and has had a successful season and a half in Portugals top flight, Sunderland and Lyons name comes up also over the last few days.

  7. Archie Mair has had his loan cut short after impressing at Gateshead by Norwich and is moving up a division to Morecombe on loan for the rest of the season. Remembered for his heroics for  Notts County on loan last season in the play off finals.

I'm pretty sure it's been widely documented/known that Cairney has declared himself unavailable/uninterested for at least the last 5 years.

I don't see what desire he would have being a previously uninterested (English-born if that makes a difference) 32 year old in coming into an unfamiliar squad probably to sit on the bench, when more likely trying to preserve his playing career past the next 1 or 2 seasons at that level. That's even before we think about what kind of message or lack of foresight that would show from Clarke picking such a player.

This bus has long left the station.

A quick search on Google or twitter shows nothing of this, if you could share any article that would help.
