  1. Phoned them on Tuesday re what they'd do with any tickets not collected at the Stadium pick up. Was told they couldn't sell any in case the actual ticketholder was just late getting there.  Then told there was no pickup at the stadium anyway. Pickups are at a Bratislava hotel on Monday night and a Trnava hotel on Tuesday - and then the lady said "the last pick-up point is at the stadium". A complete contradiction to her opening statement. How is this a fair and transparent way to treat Members who rely on them for accurate information

I'm also on the 13.20, and then 5pm to Bratislava.  What's the best boozer in the airport for a dram and a pint?

Additionally, any of you guys getting a taxi into Bratislava?

Wetherspoons is the normal  TA one.  Turn right after clearing Security and walk at least 100 yards past WH Smith etc.

My Hotel is halfway between airport and city centre, so happy to share and then meet up again later.

  3. Us Honest Men need to stick together !!

I've a room booked for 2 in Trnava for match night only but now looking at Plan B which could involve releasing this to you.  Booked it in April for £70. Hotel is now booked out.

PM me nearer to the weekend.  Or you can come and buy me a pint in Prestwick on Friday night after the Races!

No, its sold out. I would phone the SSC to rejoin & tell them your intention. You might be classed as a new member now so you may be down the pecking order of any spare tickets.

I joined as a Newbie, went on the waiting list and got one on Tuesday when I phoned to check my progress. This has happened twice so strongly believe that a polite follow-up phone call does the biz.

  5. I joined as a New Member 10 days ago and asked to be put on a waiting list.  Heard nothing for a week but when I phoned them on Tuesday morning, lo and behold, they were just about to phone me to offer me a returned ticket.  Now sorted though I have to pick it up in Prague.

  6. Also looking for a ticket - discretion assured

Flights and hotels booked months ago.  Now re-joined the Travel Club having had to take a few years out. SFA replied to my enquiry saying they are doubtful one will become available for me.  I think they might be underestimating the Granny Flu epidemic that is about to hit us.

    Having lived in the Czech Republic for three years I've written this brief guide to central Prague;

I don't live in Prague, but have been there many times, including the friendly in 2008 and the qualifier in 2010. I've covered the main tourist sites, as well as some decent pubs and restaurants near the Old Town Square.

http://www.thepub.cz/praha-1/?lng=en THE PUB belongs to a chain of pubs which deliver a reasonable drinking and eating experience. The serve up some traditional Czech dishes and the burgers are decent, however the best feature is undoubtedly the numerous tables that provide beer taps that enable you to tap your own Pilsner Urquell instead of having to wait for the bar staff. Tables compete against one another, whilst the pub competes with other pubs throughout Prague, the Czech Republic, and Europe. Live results displayed on a large screen. Should come with a warning.

  8. For my last few trips I've used a REVOLUT card - which you use like a debit or credit card.   https://revolut.com/

Either pay over the counter or use it to withdraw at a hole in the wall. It worked well in Tbilisi - so should be fine for Prague.  It guarantees the best exchange rate at the time and you can see exactly what you've spent (or topped up) via an easy-to-use App.  Having previously linked it your nomal UK debit or credit card, you can top up the balance on your Revolut in seconds - assuming you've got enough dosh in your UK account !!

Cheers Wubbs - looks like it's public transport..............leaves more klebies for Staropramen.

Sounds like we have a couple of options.  It's really just a question of how long we want to go without a beer ?

See you in the bar at Ed about 06.30 on Tuesday :spin:

  10. Just booked EA Hotel Rokoko via Booking.com. Great reviews and overlooks Wenceslas Square. £58/night for a double/twin incl brekkie.  Can cancel free up to the Sunday.  Tues night till Friday morning.

EZY Ed direct to Prague Tues 22.  Home on 25th via Brussels -into Ed @ 3.20

  11. Humbled by the work that's being done by Pink Crocodile CZ for these unfortunate kids. Hopefully we can get a mini-cultural programme arranged for the day including a piper or two. A drum would be ideal for the kids as it'll be easier to play !

Looking forward to hearing where and when the Czech cheque presentation will be made and of other help regular foot-soldiers can provide both before and on the day.

Is there any way one of our flag-makers can be approached about making and donating a "Pink Crocodile Tartan Army" flag that we can present ? Now if we only had pink shirts to wear ? !

  12. EZY at 07.20 on Tuesday direct to Prague - in at 10.35

Back on Fri @ 10.35 with Brussels Air, pint or 3 in Brussels Airport then into ED at 15.10.

REALLY looking forward to a return trip after my first venture there in '99.

Who can remember the young lassies playing baseball on the red blaize as we marched up the hill to the Stadium ? They were well serenaded by the TA ;-)

The descent down the hill after the match on the unlit 100+ steps when the guys in front were shouting 'step' every time we came off a flat section. Then the next guy repeated it. All of a sudden we'd burst into "Step me gaily on we go".

Being 2-0 up and all saying " this wasn't in the script" then big Jan Koller hitting the winner with 3 mins to go to give them qualification. The players went all round the pitch to celebrate with their fans but they hesitated when they got to us. They didn't know what to do - but when we all burst into applause they came along and applauded us. MAGIC.

Then a lock in in a cellar bar with the cops who'd just come off duty. Apart from that.......

    We'll be coming....

  13. Went to Hangar Bar around 10 last night - left after 10 mins as I wasn't overly impressed.

Then walked about 500 m South on Shavteli (I think) and came across few pubs beside each other. Plenty of TA there - singing loud n proud. Def worth having a swatch - even for the post-match celebrations ;-)

2-0 Mulgrew with one of them.

  14. Called them again this morning to see where I - as a zero pointer - was on the shrinking waiting list. As always, greeted by a cheery lady who said " we were just about to phone you to offer a ticket". As pick-up in TB was the only option, that's another 6 pints for me in lieu of the postage. Win Win.

As someone said pre-Dublin, Buzzing like a 2nd hand washing machine :-) Fly on Wed so only 6 zzzzzz's
