Brownlee Clinic I think it's called. Not sure but some have to be done a certain time before you travel as you need a couple of 'courses'. Where are you going anyway? I was in India for a year, some pretty dodgy places with expired vaccs and Colombia for half a year without and was fine...

Don't say I'm not good to you. Turns out it was the girl from Trembling Bells on vocals.

Cheers mate Only saw your post today but was talking randomly to Stuart Murdoch outside Waitrose yesterday (how west end!) who said it was her on vocals. Off to see them at a cheapo festival in Benidorm at the end of the month with Suede and Hot Chip too. Canny wait!

I was at both gigs and fully agree with that. I've seen them live loads of times and Thursday's gig was about the best I've seen them. Lazy Line Painter Jane was out of this world.
I was there on Wednesday and thought it was great. Was Thursday that much better? I do prefer Tigermilk but was gutted when I saw that LLPJ was played!

We spend no more than £45 a week on the 2 of us and we do our shop in Waitrose. We only buy what we need and cook proper meals most nights. We're vegan though and contrary to popular belief, that actually lowers the cost...

Thanks. Appreciate the tips!

My folks are heading over to Lanzarote next January. They're looking to book through ryanair but flights unavailable as yet. Told them I'd find out when they'll be released. Any ideas? Ta

It's great! Me and the girlfriend use it every week. We use it in the Grosvenor and GFT. Think you can use it at any cinema. She bought £7 travel insurance she needed at the time to get it...

If you have time, I recommend a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh (means something like black mountain garden). Fascinating little place. Though would only be for anyone there for more than a couple of days...

I'm just back from Ohrid after having a great time in 2008. Fantastic holiday. Friendly folk, amazing history, great food and cheap booze... 70 quid return from Luton to Ohrid 1st to 5th. 2 hour drive. If I was a Don I'd be getting it booked up now!

Didn't watch the programme but don't think it's a new revelation that Churchill was a horrible human being... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/soutikbiswas/2010/10/how_churchill_starved_india.html

A few months back I read the three books that make up the "Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky" trilogy by Patrick Hamilton. Set in a London pub during the 1920's and examines the lives three ordinary working class people and their sad and lonely lives. Thought it was a wonderful read, would urge everyone to read this.
I also enjoyed the "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists" by Robert Tressell which I had been urged to read for a while now. A great social and political story that read a bit like a Dicken's tale but with venom !
They sound right up my street.... Any more recommendations?
Not read many novels this year but keep meaning to re-read one of my favourites, 'Ask The Dust' by John Fante. Semi-autobiographical account of a young aspiring Italian writer, set in the seedy streets of LA in (I think) the 30s, when it was written.

Ps (hope I'm not breaking board rules) join camra £23 per year, gives £20 vouchers for Wetherspoons. Monthly paper, quarterly magazine, discount at some pubs (was pleased as punch using it in the judges at Partick cross before the Georgia hand) and festivals.
How much is it off a pint in The Judges? I'm in there every week to see what's new on the famous board. might be worth joining...

This book might be worth a look. An English journalist I met on my travels documented her 15 month walk, the length of Japan. Fascinating and might give you some 'off the beaten track' ideas and an insight into the culture... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Japan-Foot-Mary-King-ebook/dp/B00PSOVZSO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417024371&sr=8-1&keywords=japan+on+foot

Royston. I was leafleting one of the polling stations there on the day and they were disgusted with Labour. I was certainly made to feel a lot more welcome than the local Labour councillor...

Good choice. After all, the Maryhill/Springburn constituency had the highest Yes majority in the whole country. "Oh Maryhill..."
