What exactly has Barrie McKay done to deserve a call up?

Greer being in this squad is laughable,

The persistence with Hutton is laughable

McCormack missing again is a joke

Chris martin should be nowhere near a Scotland jersey

Barrie Mckay has the best first touch in that Scotland squad. Boy has unbelievable technique and is Rangers' shining light a lot of times ahead of many others on higher wages. Might not go past people as easy as others but he is one of the best young talents we have.

Was there not something a while ago about McCormack only wanting to be called up if he was going to be a starter? I seem to remember some chat around about the Czech Rep friendly when he ended up getting called up due to pull outs and started.

Correct, doesn't want to travel with the squad constantly if he isn't going to be playing. So i'm sure Strachan thinks the likes of griff and fletch are ahead of him and i'm assuming Martin is there as back up, something McCormack doesn't want to be.

  3. I'm more optimistic with this squad than I was throughout the last campaign, reason being there is pace, youth and freshness.  Forrest and Mckay on fire, Matt Ritchie on form, young Burke and Anya as well with pace. Would go:

    Marshall

    Paterson Martin Hanley Robertson

    Morrison McArthur

    Forrest Snoddy (c) Ritchie

    Griff

Hopefully someone can transform Tierney in to a right footer as he should be a starter in the next few years but you can't take out Robertson :(

Crystal Palace James Mcarthur and Scotland James Mcarthur appear to be 2 different people

Correct. As does hulls Andrew Robertson compared to Scotland's, in the last few games anyway.

  5. These countries must see us as the minnows of europe now, like a san marino type.  Our horrible footballing ability mixed with the fact we are playing in pink.  A horrendous governing body who surely must of played these games purely for money?  We are in decline and I feel we have declined in the last 7 years in the standard of player.  Take out the english players and think where we would be, a hopeless footballing nation.  The fact that it is our national game I really think the government should do more, we need investment and some major changes. horrible watching this, fair play to France though, some side

  6. McCormack wont be called up unless he is guaranteed a start, He has a family and is nearing his 30's, how many times is he going to travel all over europe for meaningless games and sit on the bench.  Everyone knows what he can do as a footballer which is why when Naismith pulled out he will come in and I bet he will start, however he wont start ahead of our best players such as fletcher and naisy etc.  The other baffling call ups are just so WGS can see some new players and see if anyone is better than what he already knows he has got, he explained it all. The only one I don't understand is Forrest, I pressume it is just because his game is to beat a player and we don't have many players like that, again WGS explained this.

  7. Really wish Tierney and Robertson both weren't left backs, they are both a class act and going to go far, one on either side of the defence would be quality going forward! Graeme shinnie was a class act at Inverness and carried that team at times now he has gone up a level up and is still over looked to play someone like whittaker at left back :(

  8. We are gradually getting worse and worse in terms of players abilities, and there is no player coming up the ranks that is going to change that. We are a rank rotten footballing nation. People still looking at the positives from some of the games just take one look at the table.. we are THREE points ahead of georgia. Closer to them than we are the rest.

  9. Poland have second already? Even though we have just drew with them away? We have played our two hardest games of the group and have both Poland and Germany at home, plus we are yet to play gib. Win tonight and second is still very much ours.

  10. Do you guys genuinely think this man for man, "our team on paper is better than yours" comparisons will make a jot of difference?

This is going to play out like a mid-table premiership game, where as we all know, any result is possible. Pound for pound there's not much between the teams and believe nobody who says they can actually call this one.

Agreed, But to be fair you are on a Scottish forum, I am sure on Irish forums you guys are confident and believe you have the better players. We are allowed to be biased. Nobody can judge player for player but it is where both Gordon Strachan and MON are good at, they get the best out of players and compete with seemingly better teams. Will be a good game and i suspect an easy win for the Scots.. not that i'm biased ;)

  11. O'Neill said his condition has improved. I'm pretty sure that if McCarthy wasn't fit, Everton would have had him hauled back to Liverpool yesterday. He'll start on Friday.

Agreed, he will start. Think this is all mind games i think as a way of dealing with the pressure on The lad. If he was seriously injured then everton wouldn't of even released him to play unless he was overly desperate, which i just can't see, I think himself and McGeady both dreaded getting Scotland. Not saying he isn't a little injured but i do think he will start. A nice cruncher from Broony early doors hopefully ;)

  12. 0-0 half time, 2-0 Scotland full time. Don't see Ireland attacking very much, MON will have them well drilled and I think we will break them down in the second half then kill them off once they start to push out. Morrison and Anya with the goals.

  13. Think in the case of Macleod and McGregor some people need to take a back seat and believe in the people who know what they are talking about, obviously Gordon wants to give experience to "wildcards" each squad and this time it is Macleod's chance, no way will he be getting in the line up but he is hopefully future. Every fan of each team is going to be biased towards their players, I remember trying to argue that Graeme Shinnie was a better player than Robertson...

As for Macleods talent, it is clear for all to see, in many games he has been Ranger's best player and was again against premiership opposition in st Johnstone. I also remember mcdowall saying he is the best young player he has seen since McGeady. Just trust Gordon knows what he is doing and be happy that there is a huge amount of young talent to pick from right now!!

I honestly think we will have a convincing victory over ireland, the two turncoats wont show up and Coleman can get forward all he wants when we have the road runner getting in behind on the left!

  14. Unlike the Poland game, the Germans had few clear cut chances, we did not deserve to lose.

As for Scotland beating us twice, we will have to see about that...

Look forward to the games :ok::cheers3:

Anyone else think Germany might struggle to qualify? granted they should get 6 from both gib and georgia but they have to go to Dublin and Glasgow and win both, and make sure they beat Poland at home, i seriously think they could struggle.

  15. Luck? Ireland fully deserved that goal. Nice little draw in Glasgow and we're on our way x

If you are talking about tonight then you were watching a different game, if you are talking about Georgia game then a wonder goal won what was a poor performance from you. I am "slightly" biased but I think we will beat you in both ties.
