  1. Excellent.

So the research and motives are sound then.

Its just the media coverage that needs sorted then...

Never taken a breath test and no idea what 50mg or 80mg actually feels like. I just think if we're penalising people who have chosen to be "responsible" by only having one then its not the best way to tackle the underlying problem. But if having one isn't actually "responsible" then lets educate people. And maybe lets extend the licencing hours so the driver can pick up a couple of cans of beer at Tescos after 10pm on the way home after getting all the piss heads home safe and sound...

Cheers! (Not in a slainte mhath kind of way).

  2. the thread has all the evidence in it, Biffer posted it i reproduced some of it.

people with a BAC of 0.5 are 3 times more likely to have a FATAL accident than someone with zero and if you go with the current limit of 0.8 it's 6 times more likely (against zero)

Cheers. Couldn't be arsed reading it as I don't have a spare month. I got a few pages in though...

Does it take into account that your are more likely to be killed within 3 miles of your home? (Presumably this overlaps with the above). And also twenty times more likely to get killed in the dark? (Which also overlaps). Just concerned that they aren't filtering out all the contributing factors here.

  3. Could never take to the dude. He would listen to no-one elses opinions smugly stating a condecendingly "No you're wrong" ad nauseum.

The poor kid made good, dragging himself from the gutter angle was laughable and Jeezo did he love himself?

I always presumed that his disappearence was down to the fact he'd finally realised he truly was made of chocolate and had eaten himself, savouring every last, sweet, delectable mouthful.

    Look at yourself!

There are a whole bunch of people on here saying fond things about Calmac Man. How many do you think would have something positive to say about you?

Maybe you should take a wee step back and ponder that...

  4. We voted no so we should forego a national anthem altogether. Listen to the anthem for our opponents, then have a minutes silence instead.

If anyone wants to campaign for anything it should be for a team GB.

International football is for countries. The clue is in the name. "Inter" (between) "national" (nations). Its an embarrassment that we're even allowed to take part. This might even be our last qualifying campaign.

  5. I thought the Loch Ness marathon was mostly downhill??

Anyone ever done the Cape Wrath marathon? Dunno if they still do it these days. Think it started on the Cape Wrath side of the Kyle, then ran out and back to the Cape, then you had to stop and wait for the ferry to take you back over the Kyle to finish the last few miles in to Durness. There are a lot of serious inclines on that one. And the stop/start for the ferry would be a killer.

  6. Its quite likely that nobody will ever hear this song, Susan thinks its pish, but fukkit, you can have the words. This was my song...

    Chorus

Well they didn't like the Wallace cos he was a common man

They think Robert Burns is braw but they dinnae understand

He spoke for the common people when he cried a mans a man

Well Scotlands had enough and we're taking back our land

    1

Well we joined this blessed Union 'round 300 years ago

But there's something 'bout this Union that they don't want you to know

It was founded on corruption and our history does show

When it comes to taking bribes Westminster is the place to go

    2

First they banned the pipes and gaelic, outlawed tartan and the clans

Turned the chieftains into landlords, drove the people from their lands

Now Scotland is their playground they want us to understand

They know best for all of us and everything is grand

    3

Well our fortunes should have changed when we struck oil in the north sea

McCrone wrote that it would transform Scotlands economy

But Westminster kept it secret and then lied to you and me

They gave us back a fraction and they called it subsidy

    4

We've had Thatcher and the poll tax and some rammy over coal

Sold our phones and trains and water, put a nation on the dole

Well now there's not much left the NHS is their next goal

If we don't do something soon they're going to sell your sorry soul

    5

We've got think tanks and big business setting all our policies

Finding clever ways to channel private wealth across the seas

To their secret offshore havens while a nation on its knees

Begs and scrapes a living through these new austerities

    6

Well now Cameron Clegg and Osborne think that they're the ones in charge

Cos their parents have a title, and their bank accounts are large

Oh you cannae huv the pound - you'll get flung oot o' the EU

But the canny Scots ken fine that they dinnae huv a clue

    7

We've got food banks and the bedroom tax but bankers get a rise

When you vote for Tories dusnae come as a surprise

The rich get all the breaks the poor get by on less and less

Well Scotlands had enough and Scotlands voting YES!

  7. Calmac Man is also one of my favourite posters. But the main inspiration on this board for winning all those independence arguments was far and away footsoldier.

Hopefully I'll bump into both of them next week, and sonny too - if anyone remembers him.

Met so many great people through this board over the years. And I'll raise a wee dram to Khraeigh too, god rest his soul. (And his lost bollock).

  8. I think YES grass roots need to take a pro-active strategy for Farage - and Murphy if he gets back on his soap box. Get a bunch of sensible volunteers to turn up everywhere they go and act as personal bodyguards for them to ensure neither get egged or slapped. And if anyone does step out of line, to catch whoever it is and turn them in.
