  1. I am going to kill this profile. This board used to be a good laugh and there were some intelligent people on here who could argue point with counter point, fact with counter fact then throw in a little joke for light relief. Someone recently pointed out that the board seems to be on the wane....
its no wonder - just in this thread for trying to make the point that buying and selling property is not immoral - maybe an unpopular point right now - but instead of being put right with examples, reason or simply ignored I was subjected to abuse and name calling - "fanny" and "scumbag" etc.
When evasive discussions and aggressive personal insults become the norm then people will back away, I guess its the boards lookout if this is what they want.
It seems that these days there are a handful of anti-SNP bullies with too much time on their hands. There are a lot of pro-SNP and pro-yes people on here (as you might find anywhere) and the board would benefit from a wider range of views. But a few obsessive anti-SNP heavies waiting on the corner, name calling, closing down debates and resorting to personal insults if anyone says anything remotely in support of the SNP is not balance. Maybe this works both ways but it is still wrong regardless of your position.
There is too little discussion, analysis or reasoned debate - posts and questions aimed at sparking debate quickly attract childish insults and name calling within a few minutes of posting - its no wonder people don't want to post. It has become a horrible abusive wee place.......
  2. Yip on both

Is this Thomson lassie one these kents that prays on people's financial situations to make a quick buck??? If so then anybody defending her is either a ####in moron or the type of person who would shoot both their parents to go to an orphans day out.

I say this as someone who had two mortgages for 13 months.Financially and emotionally it was the most draining time of my life and everyday I would get flyers through the door from companies offering me well below market value for a quick sale.

I'm having a wee chuckle but if you think buying a house from someone who took it from the council for £20 grand and sold it for £51 grand and then whines about it even though no-one else wanted to buy is 'exploitation' then I think you must all be on drugs...

the only people being exploited in that deal is the taxpayer who paid to get the council house built and people waiting in the queue for a council house but hey ho....

  3. You're a fanny . Stereotypical Tartan Tory.

you are clearly only on here on the wind up - I am not going to call you names back. I am guessing you didn't see the news and don't care anyway about anything other than gossip and hearsay... or maybe you're the12 year old child of a bitter SNP hating former Labour MP let loose on the iPad. Give it back before you get him in trouble.

  4. so finally - a poor, disgruntled, pensioner who was cruelly taken advantage of by 'Cruella' Michelle Thomson was just interviewed live on STV news. I am so outraged by how this poor woman was taken advantage of, I still have tears in my eyes thinking of the plight of poor pensioner Jackie from Cumbernauld...

    - Jackie bought her council house for £20k

    - she only made a profit of 155% when sold through Thomsons property company

    - she signed a document giving permission that it be marketed and sold on

    - she signed specifically a letter saying she understood that her share of the sale would be £51k & M&F would keep any excess

    - the sale 'helped her get out of it'

    - she helpfully added that Michelle was a 'bitch'

    - Bernard Ponsonby added in a cruel blow to Michelle that 'there is no suggestion of any illegal behaviour in Ms Thomson's part"

I don't know how Michelle sleeps at night, clearly 155% profit for your client is simply not good enough.......

  5. Do you ever make a post without throwing in a strawman?

I have no idea what that means, is it a farming reference ? I also don't know why you want to have an online discussion about morality without being able to make a simple, clear statement about what precisely you think is immoral - seems you'd like to talk about anything except the thing you claim to object to....

  6. Do you believe there is some fundamental contradiction there or is it the number of properties you think is the problem?

yeah - this is the point thats making me crazy with the "no smoke without fire...... grab your torch & pitchfork mob"

are you allowed to own a business and support social justice. If so, are you allowed to rent out property at market rates ? If so I have no feckn clue what they are on about....

  7. I'd agree with you that there's something that doesn't smell right about some of these purchases but so far no-one has been able to explain just exactly what the dodginess is all about.

There are two sides to every equation and to me the reason why there is an apparent excess in the private rental sector is because of the lack of provision of social housing either via councils or housing associations. A massive program of building new social housing would also help rein in the house prices as well.

There is a place for the private rental sector, most notably for people who for a number of reasons don't want to commit to a long term tenancy, the problems not the private rental sector per se, it's the lack of any alternative.

agreed - there is your problem - but some think either its the SNP or Michelle Thomsons problem..

  8. The funny part is, they're unable to see just how ridiculous they all look. Mainly because all their fellow cult members on here back them up and tell them how right they (and the SNP) are on every single matter

the funny part really is you have a 'problem' with 'morality' but won't say exactly what your morality issue is with....

    - renting out houses ?

    - rent at market rates ?

    - selling things at a profit ?

I don't have any moral problem with any of these things.

it seems the only moral problem you have is with the SNP - regardless of the issue, you'll say its 'bad' if the papers say its 'bad'... that seems to be as close to brainwashed as I can figure.

c'mon - do us all favour - what part exactly do you have a moral issue with ?

  9. possibly many MPs in both parliaments and in all parties are sh!tting themselves right now. Property is in demand in the rental sector because no-one can afford the deposit to buy and (until the SNP came along) no-one built any council houses. Ordinary people trying to save for their retirement are buying & renting property because interest rates are zero and stocks are too risky - thats how markets work.

I lived in Germany for many years - more than 80% of people rent and most of that in the private sector. I had a great landlord - she was a nice person and always fixed things when needed.

I dont support a single political party - you know nothing about me.

    so back to morality

    - in your moral world how many properties can I own before I become immoral ? (17 or fewer ?)

    - if I buy something today on eBay - even a house - and tonight someone offers me 30% more am I allowed to sell it in your moral world ?

    - how do I 'inflate' rent prices I think lots of people would like to know

What about WeBuyAnyCar.com - they are buying cars at below market prices in order to give people the option of a quick, painless sale - would you allow this to continue ?

how the hell do they sleep at night ??

  10. I guess it depends whether you think preying on the weak and the vulnerable is acceptable or not.

ok explain that bit to me..... I saw a couple who needed to sell their house. Some people came along and offered them more than they had paid for it (a lot more) and they decided to accept. There is no inference of illegality. They were then annoyed it later sold for a higher price.

explain why I should be upset ?

  11. trying to be objective, if you read the judgement on the solicitor there is a strong inference Thomson 'might' have been involved in diddling some mortgage lenders - 'might' ( oh those poor banks..... )

if she has then I'm sure the polis will deal with it (though how there could be any hope of a fair trial now is beyond me... )

except for that I don't get it - some people are annoyed they sold a house to the highest offer and then are shocked it sold for more later ??? is that it or have I missed something else ?

as for the Biz for Scotland 'story' - Tony Banks is a w@nk and no-one who works with him likes him so I am also struggling with that non-story - is there anything actually confirmed here as being genuinely illegal or immoral because I am not getting it...

this whole thing looks to me like someone is telling tales - there might be an awful lot more personal agenda than real fact here........

  12. Yep. It was clear Thomson was getting a leg up, most likely because of her efforts during referendum were deemed more worthy than Michael Stewart. Anyone thinking the SNP were different need to wake up. We'll have our troughers like the rest.

I doubt Stewart could win in that seat. He is all about 'the 45' and poverty, as am I... looking on Wiki Ed West is a former Tory then Lib Dem seat. Full of millionaires and grasping middle classes with 2 jobs sending their weans to private schools.... I guess the local party thought Thomson was one of them - and they won for the first time ever so I guess they were right...

  13. If the SNP ever do take control of a government with powers over welfare and corporate policy we deserve absolutely to get fücked in the ass and there will be an army of mental fücks lining up to say "Please can we have some more".

    Absolutely fücking frightening

aye - the alternative of having Corbyn or those nice Oxbridge chaps running it sounds much safer - after all where did they ever go wrong before...

  14. the problem with the 'fanboy' stuff is pretty deep...... why do many overlook or play down flaws with the SNP ? well we're in a situation where it is the only show in town as far as expressing opposition to Westminster is concerned. The 'main' parties take our votes for them as capitulation and a willingness to be walked all over.

Until we live in a 'normal' political environment - federalism or independence would seem to be the only options - this will not change - unless someone in the SNP exceeds the excess or scandals of Westminster I doubt they will be due much serious criticism...
