Go.
Chance to get rid with no compensation due.
If he signs a new deal and arses up the start of next campaign he will be binned and it'll cost SFA whatever his contract is worth.
I just don't buy this throw away line loads of folk appear to be spouting, "but there's no one else who can take over that'll do any better" That's both unlikely and also not a reason to accept failure, twice, against the remit he was given.
For what it's worth I like Strachan and I would say on balance he's given us good, bad and mediocre but some of his squad and team selections have me pulling what's left of my hair out, so time for a change IMO.

Couple of teams suggested above have 12 players in starting line up..... Would be nice to play an extra man given where we are just now.
I think Strachan will stick with his 4-2-3-1 formation. This is the team I think he will pick, not the one I would go for but.....:
Gordon
Anya Martin Mulgrew Robertson
Brown D. Fletcher
Forrest Armstrong Snodgrass
S. Fletcher
I could see him picking Matt Ritchie over Forrest or Tierney over Robertson but I think he'll go with what he thinks he knows which will be 9/10 of above team.

They didn't score too many goals, but I am fearing a 0-0. We will go over there and set up as we always do, as a counter attacking team with 1 up top, if that's Fletcher we could be in for a nervy night. I'd rather we went with 2 up top and 2 quick wide players. Having said that I'd be happy enough with any win, a dodgy penalty, OG, whatever is required, lets just get 3 points.

Aberdeen apparently trying to get a 19 year old midfielder on loan from Norwich - James Madison.
I'd rather a big hard, dirty b@st@rd in the middle of the park.
Disna say much for our youngsters that we'd rather pay to develop an EFL Academy player. He doesn't exactly fit the Lee Richardson type mould going by what info I can find on him, how can it not be obvious to those at the club that is more important? Maybe we are planning on bringing in 2 players today?

Aberdeen v Ross County is same day as Baker Hughes 10k.
Here are the list of road closures from last years race...
How come some of the roads are closed until 2pm? The race is at 9.30am, still it seems like a fair oversight since some folk will just be finishing the race as fans start turning up for the match!

They've got Inverness City playing in the Juniors up there, I'd imagine any new team launched which is aimed at Highland league level could mean trouble for them.
The club are already struggling due to no available pitches in the city I read. I don't know why they don't go back to sharing Clach's pitch, they did that for years when I played in the same league as City and it seemed to work well. Anyone got an update on if they've got a solution to that?
-
I hope he gives the following a decent amount of time on the pitch; Bain, Caddis, Cooper, Tierney, Bridcutt, Murphy, McGinn - really hoping Cooper plays a full game and offers us another option at CB.
I am also keen to see how Griffiths performs this time around, wasn't sure he was ready last time I saw him start for Scotland at Hampden, (think it was Belgium?) but he has improved a lot in the last 2 seasons in the games I've seen him in.

Bizarre comments from Mark McGhee regarding Tony Watt being unfit.
Why on earth has he been rewarded with a call up if he isn't prepared to do the graft ?
Sets a shocking example IMHO - if the state of him wasn't known then that is even more bizarre.
Mark McGhee shouldn't be allowed to talk to the press whilst representing Scotland IMO. Almost every time the national team meet up he is wheeled out to the press and almost always says something daft or cringe worthy.
I can see what he's trying to do with Tony Watt but it comes across wrong and he just makes it sound like they haven't done their homework and now regret calling him up. I certainly wouldn't be motivated by that comment if I was Watt.
-
Just heard it, what a cringe fest that was!
The bit about Rangers, told by Davies in the 3rd person sounds like a sketch from Only an Excuse, bizarre!
-
Logan comes back in of course but I would have Storie back in the team. Obviously it wont happen and Jack will play but i'd go with:
Brown
Logan / Reynolds / Taylor / Shinnie
Flood / Storie
McGinn / Maclean / Pawlett
Church
I'd say that's being generous to Taylor and Pawlett who I'd drop if we had anyone else we could realistically play in their place.
-
PM'd you Zander, cheers.
-
I doubt he would have started, Strachan's choice of wingers were likely to be Forrest and Ritchie IMO. Still, it's a blow as I think he's been a big player for us and would have played a part at some point.
-
Team I'd like:
Gordon
Hutton
Hanley
Martin
Robertson
Brown
D. Fletcher
Anya
Maloney
Naismith
Rhodes
Team I expect Strachan to play:
Marshall
Hutton
Hanley
Martin
Whittaker
Brown
McArthur
Ritchie
Maloney
Forrest
S. Fletcher

I don't understand why you are saying we won't miss Mulgrew and I don't know why GS has been playing him at the back.
He has done a good job for us at the back but I think he has been our best centre midfielder and is the only player who
can take a set piece.
Agree. Our best performances this campaign have arguably come when Mulgrew been in centre mid beside Brown. He has ability on the ball and is technically very good. Draws a lot of fouls and doesn't give the ball away much, does the simple stuff well. Thought he was brilliant at home to Ireland. Him and Brown would be my first choice for Poland, wouldn't be too disappointed with Brown and Fletcher in there though.

It was McLean that Gordon made the save from and it was indeed a fantastic save.
No idea what Considine was thinking. He had a horror show all day, but redeemed himself in the last 2 minutes when he cleared off the line
One of the loudest cheers of the day, celebrated like a goal! :-)
-
The BBC website highlights were utterly shite. They completely omitted:
1. Considine's free header from 7 yards which he headed over
2. Considine trying to control the ball 5 yards out, when if he'd hit it first time he had an open goal
3. McLean missing the ball with an attempted header from 6 yards.
I thought when watching them that they just wanted to make Celtic look better/aberdeen look worse.
I realise i sound like a paranoid Tim but they seemed like really bizarre highlights to omit.
BBC highlights were cr@p. Id like to have seen Gordon's save in the first half again, think from Rooney. I know the offside decision was given after the save but no one knew that at the time he made the save. From where we were in the Upper Dickie it looked some save.
Also wanted to see Considine playing in Celtic with poor pass back after about 30 seconds, really wonder what he was thinking with that?
-
I'd say about 7 or 8 of the first 11 are already picked, a few positions up for grabs.
Strachan has to go with Hanley and Martin if fit.
Hutton Vs Whittaker, probably go with Hutton.
Robertson at LB due to his performance at Home, although Whittaker also an option if he doesn't fancy 2 Full backs bombing on.
I'd prefer Mulgrew next to Brown, but believe he will go with Morrison.
Maloney and Naismith certs, one other from Ritchie or Anya, hoping for Anya.
I think Strachan will go with:
Marshall
Hutton
Robertson
Martin
Hanley
Morrison
Brown
Naismith
Maloney
Anya
Fletcher
I'd swap Mulgrew for Morrison If I was picking the team.

Have you ever known anyone to punt their own book more than Ken Brown? Have a look at his Twitter feed. Never shut up about it during the Open too.
Ponsoby on Twitter doesn't mind a punt either. Will let him off.
On the subject of golf, was at Paul Lawrie Matchplay at Murcar today. As well organised as any of the Scottish Opens / Opens I've been to and due to the much smaller crowd we got much closer to the action than normal.
Warren was not a this best today, putting was awful, that goes for Anhibarnrat as well.
Murcar looked in great condition, but looks so tough, played it a few years ago and can't remember the fairways being so tight, but for £7.50 entry I really enjoyed the day - food, beer etc was pretty reasonably priced as well, one tea stall was giving free busicuits away to folk and tea and a massive wedge of cake £1. Will hopefully get to go back next year.

This is such sad news. Stevie was a thoroughly nice bloke, far far too young.
Helped look after us on our early Scotland trips when we were young and stupid and spoke to him on last few Scotland trips.
RIP Stevie.

CopperFace Jacks was spot on as was the nightclub at the Harcourt Hotel.
Residents at the Harcourt get free access so worthwhile selecting a mates room number
Pretty sure this is where we stayed both times we were over for the Carling cup, brilliant club/pub type place in the hotel with outside beer garden etc. Drink was cheap (compared to elsewhere in Dublin) and we barely left all weekend.
My mate kept dropping pints and several bouncers went to turf him out, he showed them his room key for the hotel upstairs and they just shook their head and let him get on with it! Full of student girls too if thats what your after.

A couple of crackers on there that i've not heard before Flure, loving Hamish Imlach - Cod Liver Oil and Orange Juice.

you can get me one too for my xmas ?
Why don't the 4 of us go and make a day of it? Santa will need to increase his budget as it's not stretching that far.

I seen them playing at the Barras with the guy from Seahorses and it was a great gig too. That must have been 2012 if yours was 2013. Pretty sure this years is sold out.
Aye your right, sold out already. Still, probably worth paying over face value for tickets, although not a massive Inspiral Carpets fan.
First Scotland games
in TA specific
Posted
First Scotland game: Rous Coup 1989 Vs Chile at Hampden, we won 2-0 and we were behind the goal at the East end. My vague memory is that end of the ground was pretty much empty.
First Hampden game: As above
First Away game: France 98 Vs Morocco
