Pre screening asks you questions about where you stayed, what you did, who you met. It’s just there way of looking you in the eyes and seeing if you are shifty. They will then put a wee sticker on your passport. That is then scanned at security. Depending on what your sticker says will depend on how stringent your security experience will be. Normally I go straight through. Other people may need their whole hand luggage opened up and swabbed, it’s just how they roll.

Advice would also be don’t turn up reeking, and don’t get on your high horse about questioning. 

Also, don’t be alarmed by the amount of young looking security guards with machine guns. They are just that and I have found them no bother.

Its no way as bad as people make out, getting through immigration is a bit of a scrum (foreigners need to move to the right, but can’t use the biometric machines). Again immigration will ask you a few questions. 

Enjoy. The weather looks like it’s on average 28c, so pack the shorts & swimming trunks and leave the jacket at home.

Yes, I’m there often too. Whatever you do, don’t get pissed off with the questions they ask, if you’ve been to Dubai for example, they will ask you if know any locals, just say no; say you went for holidays, just be honest basically but expect them to keep probing you.  I’ve been to Saudi so they interrogate me a lot and I get a yellow sticker which means extra security on the way out.

its much longer to get out than get in so absolutely give 3 hours as it will take that long.

 

israel is a really cool place, you’ll love it there, just be respectful to the security
