I think somewhere around the middle leaves you at Temple not Leicester Square. I would suggest the Coal Hole on the Strand. There is an underground bar called Gordons Wine bar on Viliers Street on the road leading down from the side of Charing Cross. Why not go against the Tore Andre Flo and go across the river as opposed to various cliched places around Leicester Square. Loads round the south bank and great views as you walk across Hungerford Bridge.
Good suggestions! I used to frequent those places in my time in London.

Besides, dont fancy having to dress up to survive Swynie's decrepit old stand.
Daft Punk off to the Hearts game?

I remember that, he got called Van Gogh for years afterwards.
Richard's brother ?

I recall that he was sacked mid-season, possibly the season after the final day defeat at Ibrox? Possibly some poor cup results helped to seal his fate?
Have read up a bit more - indifferent league form plus defeats to Airdrie and Rangers in the domestic cups, and to BK1903 Copenhagen in the UEFA Cup.

Was that the season they sacked Alex Smith for coming second?

Unbelievably, I have found an event which combines running and golf (though not at the same time)

"A dual competition combining a golf event and a marathon on Scotland's remote and mysterious Islay"
Those crazy Canadians have combined fitba and golf:

blue rodeo @ calgary stampede this year ; first live concert i'd been to in about a decade
hokey country pish ; everyone else seemed to lap it up though
Aye, a few folk have tried to drag me along to see Blue Rodeo, but have managed to avoid them.
You remember Paul Weller at Crystal Palace in the late 90s (?). Thought Weller's set was a bit dull, but the support groups were OK - Republica (their singer was a fox), and Skunk Anansie.
Was a bit underwhelmed by BB King about 3 years ago, yeah I know he was around 85 years old then, but the show mainly involved him chatting away to the audience in the front few rows, with a wee bit of guitar playing thrown in. Show was about 1hr 20mins.

Bob Malcolm and Mark Hateley on the lash.
A slimmer and less-tanned Jimmy Calderwood on the right?
-
Louise Redknapp?!

"George Dawes, what are the scores?"

Anyone mention King Crimson
I noticed they are touring the UK and Canada later this year - thought Robert Fripp had given up on live performances?

Hope you get to see the Northern Lights. I live in Western Canada (Edmonton) and got my red alert email tonight as well. There have been a few of these alerts already this year - here are some nice photos (not taken by me though!):

I'm just back from Ohrid after having a great time in 2008. Fantastic holiday. Friendly folk, amazing history, great food and cheap booze... 70 quid return from Luton to Ohrid 1st to 5th. 2 hour drive. If I was a Don I'd be getting it booked up now!
A seven year holiday?!
Coldest you have been..

I lived in Edmonton during this particularly cold spell:

Summers could be pretty nice though!
