  1. As much as the teenage me loved reading about the paranormal and supernatural, the complete lack of video or photographic evidence for any of it since the rise of the smartphone and digital camera has been telling.

Personally I've consigned belief in ghosts, yeti, nessie, alien abductions / sightings, telepathy, clairvoyance to the same place I hold religion and homeopathy.

I'd still be delighted if anything was ever found tho.

Jermaine Jenas on Question Time the other week.

Was watching CBeebies with the wean a few years back and Murdo MacLeod came on it with his grandsons (can't find video of the show, but one of the wee boys did an excellent impression of him being hit by Branco's free kick :-)) )

Ah, I saw that one a couple of months ago while flicking through the Kids channels with the boy, I was hooked! :D

  3. That just looks like a CGI teaser to me - I don't think any of that will be in the actual episodes. Well, considering the final shot was pretty much entirely composed of alive characters - Tyrion, Arya, Dany, Jaime, were the ones I spotted.

Pretty bad CGI too looking at some of those faces.

EDIT: Cersei and Sansa are there too it seems...

  4. It was a lot shit IMO. Dreadful. Like something that would appear on Movies For Men after the 80's scuddy film has finished on a Saturday night. Mulder didn't have a car but seemed to be able to get from Bvtt####, Indiana to Washington and back again with no issues whatsoever and it was passed off as "hitchhiking". More holes in the plot than the Making A Murderer prosecution case.

ALSO YOU NEVER SEE MULDER GOING FOR A SHITE, AMIRITE???

  5. These greedy ###### big clubs will end up destroying themselves. There'll be no promotion or relegation so it'll be the same teams all the time. People are already becoming bored of it.

Hmmm, I dunno, that doesn't seem to affect the popularity of the same 32 NFL teams each year.

I think it would be a marketing behemoth with insane amounts of money throw at it. And kids would grow up supporting a soul-less franchise at the European level, and maybe a local team in the domestic kiddy-on level.

    Sounds horrible, but inevitable.

  6. I liked it too, just as a nostalgia trip if nothing else. I don't think it would win many new viewers who previously didn't like it but it was good seeing Mulder & Scully back in action.

Mulder's still at the crazy monologues about how they've been duped all along. I swear this speech was used at least once a year in the old series.

I've seen the first 3 episodes, the next one is a bit average but the 3rd one is hilarious. Only 3 to go after that, one of which is said to include the Lone Gunmen so that should be good!

  7. Panthers look unstoppable after last night. I'm glad the Broncos beat the Pats (good game it was too - I was sure we were headed for OT), but it was just a different class watching the Panthers game this morning.

Am I right in thinking that none of the players from teams in the Superbowl play in the Pro-bowl next week?

  8. i was terrified of aliens when I was a kid. The film fire in the sky had me awake for months absolutely convinced I was going to be abducted. Fortunately that phase passed ha.

Heights is still a fear, did a Bungy a few years back but if anything it made it worse.

Aye me too with the aliens after reading a book by John Mack, an american psychiatrist who was one of the main people behind spreading the alien abduction / greys myth.

Used to think that any bright lights late at night or any noises were the greys coming to get me! I think I also read somewhere that they were attracted to the brainwaves of people who thought about them so that really ####ed me up - the more I thought about them the more I thought they were coming! Madness.

Luckily i came to the realisation any alien visitation stories were all pure pish!

  9. Aye you can't say they didn't deserve it, regardless of the quality of their football. That's the game, getting points whatever way you can. Something we've struggled with.

    That's the truth of it.

And something every other nation in Europe with an ounce of footballing nous has achieved at some point over the last 16 years. Never mind being drawn into tough groups, or dodgy referees, or playing games in high temperatures, or at the end of a tough season, or the start of a new season - all bollocks excuses. Every other decent sized nation has managed to qualify for something since '98.

Ireland respond to the lows of the handball vs France in the last qualifiers by stepping up when needed and qualifying for the very next tournament. It seems to take us a couple of qualifying tournaments to recover from a 'near-miss'.

  10. I have only watched the modern ones really (Brosnan onwards) and whatever Roger Moore ones used to be on the telly when I was growing up.

Funniily enough I have the lot on blu-ray in some 50th anniversary box set that I got free with my Sony telly a couple of years ago, but i haven't even cracked the cellophane.

Anyway, probably GoldenEye for me. Or the Roger Moore one with a Zepplin and Grace Jones.
