Depends what way you want to spin it stocky - technically both sides of the argument are correct here.
You are perfectly correct to say that we will not be paying any more come next April - however the OP is also correct to state that if the rUK are given a reduction in the income tax burden by the 40% limit going up over £45k then for those of us north of the border denied that decrease in tax it will be therefore more tax being paid.
It's all about perspective I suppose.
From a personal perspective I've had almost a decade with receding bottom line due to no pay increases worth a sh*t compounded by increased pension payments soaking up any increase. Pay has remained relatively static as the public sector were the fall back sector to pay off the banking shambles and "we're all in this together" whilst the top % earners in the UK got off unscathed. To have this further shoplifted from the bank account under the guise of 'I'm sure the middle earners will be happy to contribute £1.2bn over 5 years to education and NHS' is just another boot in the baws from an unexpected source.

My my the tax deniers are out in force already.
With a prospective hike in council tax of >£100 allied to being denied the increase in 40% limit next year it's looking like I'll be paying extra when compared not the rUK - and as a public servant who's basically had the equivalent of about 3% rise over the last 8 years and is only just over the threshold but that's OK as we wouldn't want those really cash rich and mobile 45% threshold lot leaving the country so the middle ground gets shafted.
Either way it's a piss poor strategy from Nicola&Swinney - might need to ditch my SNP party membership to balance the books.

Back in the day when Thistle players had other jobs to pay the bills - Hansen was a banker while Brian Whittaker worked in the top floor boot room in Greaves/Lumleys on Sauchiehall Street - early 70's kit was a cracker:

I'm going to be taking a big hit. I already pay nearly £3k in council tax with a proposed increase of around £300
We have been arguing with GCC with regards to the banding of our house for a while and this is going to make things a bit worse.
Ah well.band G bud - you must live in a palace in one of Glasgow's most salubrious neighbourhoods!

I'm SNP member & in band E property - two quid a week increase seems reasonable given that the CT hasn't gone up in years with all the local government jobs that have been lost as a result - easier to do this than undertake a complete revaluation of properties and/or valuation of land with all the gnashing of teeth and political disagreement that would cause

First time I watched a rugby match in ages (Ireland/England) I was surprised at how many times the referee went upstairs for a ruling - despite being up with play and having the touch judges it was quite stop-start - and the replays were shown to the crowd too (surely not - not a fan of screens at any live venue).
Thought the English player should have been red carded for the high tackle about the Irish blokes neck - in slow motion it looked horrific.

i've just heard rumours of explosions at firhill (emanating from my son's social media) - any info anyone or has referee bobby madden been extinguished?

the trouble with electricity generation is essentially we're either burning crap (gas/coal) or splitting a manky atom to release some energy to heat water / produce steam / turn a turbine which spins some magnets or bits of wire in the generator - not very high tech at all really
however it's the crap we burn/split that gives us a stable base load and without nuclear we'd be in a bit of a stooshie - all other forms of renewables are too wishy washy and locally expensive to produce so have to be heavily subsidised per kWh
fusion is still a concept and perhaps when ITER (fusion) in France gets switched on we'll be a bit closer to that but at 14 billion euros & rising for an experimental reactor it's a bit pricey already - and by no means clean either as the fusion process also leaves behind some radioactive by-products which require containment
someone also mentioned cruachan up at loch awe - it's purpose it to respond to peaks in daily demand on the UK grid alongside ffestiniog & dinorwig in wales - without them attached to the grid and ready to pull the plug at a moments notice our grid would have regular outages.

Looking for a bit of advice.
I've got a car on a PCP 9000 miles per annum deal and I'm 75% complete on the rental payments at the end of this month. The car was pre-owned when I got it and is now outside the 3 year warranty,
Everything has been fine until this week when the tub of lard belched a huge puff of white smoke from the exhaust with a consequential loss of power through the pedals - with my limited car knowledge I'm sure that this is not particularly good news and could prove to be a costly repair. There's also another separate issue, namely a high pitched intermittent metal-on-metal squealing at the left side possibly from the tyres also kicking off earlier this week. There are no engine management issues and no warning lights on the dashboard.
As I never intended to keep it at the end of the PCP term & pay the guaranteed future value balloon payment, do I -
- get the (possible cylinder head?) repair done & carry on to the end of the term
- don't get the repair done, terminate the contract as I'm past half way stage & hand the car back to the finance company with my fingers crossed it's not spotted whilst getting loaded onto the back of a transporter.
Morals say the former but bank balance says the latter.

I think that's the answer.
We could tell concerned parent's that we don't give a and it's much more important that the adult members of the board can type "fück" and "cûnt" and stuff like that. -
Hearts twitter - between 11a.m. & midday
Folks, there's no pitch inspection planned this afternoon - very much game on here at Tynecastle!
Hearts twitter - 2 hours or so later
Partick Thistle game called off Heart of Midlothian | News http://fb.me/7wXkPawC3
I was in the Haymarket area from midday - and there was next to nothing (snow/rain/snow//hail etc) falling from the skies above that would have caused the pitch to be as waterlogged as per the photos emanating from Tynecastle.
Fringo mentioned the ref showing up at 1 pm to take a look - now I'm not sure how much these khunts get paid by the SFA but if this is true and if they are getting close to £1000 a game, then they should be there from early morning to take control of the pitch and any shenanigans that might go on in the intervening period between arrival and the game ... or is it too much to expect a full days work for an obscene amount of cash?
-
arrived early for a beer and it gets called off ... the jam tarts should get their baws well and truly booted for such a late call off ... something doesn't add up here

Same trouble every year as I can never spell this fvcking word at the first attempt. It also doesn't help that I'm an English teacher!
I had to double check the spelling and write it on the board before my students came into class this morning.
To the OP - could you no just have written 1/2/16 or 1st Feb on the board - what a total boton ... or is that botton?

Stored for the next time people are moaning about getting stuff thrown at them at Ibrox!
you're welcome - been well behaved since the JH stand went up but it's a soulless existence - gone are the days of goading the section B as they trooped through our part of the shed to stand at the opposite side of the fence or swapping ends at half-time
the π however is mightier than the pyro

ahh the Firhill shed with the rear wall where the smell of pish was palpable
remember being in a small hardy group of shed boys at the pie stall totally unsegregated in with the blue filth - lobbed a dripping greasy pie at a celebrating rangers fans gub just after bobby russell had scored a dubious goal in off the bar - caught him a belter square on the chops the dirty unwashed basted!
don't think I was responsible for floras jacket though ...

I don't use the Internet.
Ever.
Horrible place.

I get the kaleidescope eyeballs and it's a sign/trigger to get pills down neck quickly (2 para and 2 ibuprof simultaneously to blast the fecker) - usually works well and migraine is prevented but if it takes hold it's not pleasant but nowhere near as bad as a kidney stone!
-
hibees cummings seems to be getting away with playing with his socks round his ankles - ref should be insisting on standards being applied - doesn't look like he's wearing shinnies either

A threat to burn down the Shed?
That was a tongue n cheek remark to ShedTA given he was wetting the bed about a few smokes. I thought the laughing faces were a give away there but obviously not to a dunce like you.
I'm most grateful to you for spelling it out despite clearly being able to discern that.
Arsehole, dick, dunce - any more high quality insults from a scum-condoning low IQ Oirish sympathiser?
-
Your maw should have stuck your head back up her pie rather than giving birth to an abomination like you ya dick.
It's what you and your ilk do best - attack others with opinion and make it personal to deflect the argument that certain sections of your support are scum.
If you are easily offended by words which you are unable to take out of context (in my context it was that a person/persons were considered to be either foolish or socially inept) then perhaps you should not be on a forum.Or are we to literally take your threat to burn down the shed at face value too.
Back in the circle now with your fellow paranoids and play with your tarpaulin & flares now you stupid little bhoy.
-
You have zero credibility in criticising folk if you're using the word retard, you little arsehole.
stick your head back in the the wagon circle you fukkin moron - you handing out credibility checks is a fukkin laugh

I am in relatively good health and my last prescription was paid for over a decade ago. I have had no need of NHS services since I broke my arm aged 15 some 33 years ago,
I graduated university in 1992 and had the first couple of years under the new student loan.
What's your point if you have one?
Must everyone who disagrees with your opinion leave the country?
