You only follow Scotland at home if you're getting rewarded with a point?

Sounds like you're not really that interested in supporting the team, which makes it harder to understand why you'd care about points in the first place.

What your saying makes no sense, if you don't go to less attractive home games and only the odd 'big' away game you will get less points than the guy dressed like something off a shortbread tin who goes home & away to every single game and arranges their life around following Scotland.  Therefore if we ever qualify for a major tournament, the shortbread man will get first dibs on tickets still, so what's the problem?

This is surely about encouraging fans who only go to bigger home qualifiers to come along to other home games as well, therefore increasing income and hopefully atmosphere?  Well worth trying something different IMO

Some pretty innovative ideas , we really like them . Supporters Club needs a good shake up .

Like the home point ,was pretty pissed off soaking and freezing at Canada friendly for no reward . Never understood why only supporters who go to away games get a point  .

I have also started missing home games like Malta, if I am getting a point then I will probably go .

The group discount is not before time ,think some of our lapsed members may rejoin but surely could get membership down to £30 if they leave out the rubbish they send us .

Agree with this, will encourage more fans (myself included) to go to home friendlies & less attractive home games (like Malta), as I never even bother going to friendlies anymore (expect when we played England.

To make it really work, they need to have a proper think about managing points harvesting, as they struggled to do it for away games and much smaller numbers, so I wonder how they will do it for home games.  Or maybe they wont care as they will be getting more money in the coffers whether people turn up for home games or not.

I'm gonna assume this says what I think it's meant to say,but it is his fault.

He could refuse to play for a team that isn't his country.

Bit of a silly comment, his sport doesn't really have a Scottish team element, so what is he going to do miss the Olympics & Davis Cup?  Come on.  While I don't think signing about Andy Murray is anything but a bit of fun to wind up the English, some of the comments on here are hilarious.  "No place for it", "only sing songs that are relevant to the sport", "get behind the team" blah blah blah, these are comments from the same roasters who prob think Do a Deer (one of the most embarrassing songs ever sang at a football match) is still a top class football anthem.

The atmosphere at Scotland games is absolutely dire home & away these days, our songs are mainly garbage & the sooner people realise that and stop trying to hang on to the 'good old days' & do something different the better.

Mate, are you on the Gourock bus?

No, not for this one.  Im actually down with work already that week & getting the train home on the Saturday.  I know quite a few travelling on that bus right enough, how come?

It would be interesting to see how many home ends have sold out for scotland games.

Personally, i ve never had a problem pitching up and buying a home end ticket for a scotland away game in the half dozon times ive done it.

Only time iv ever seen problems with this was Macedonia away (the 1-0 defeat) in 2008, hundreds of fans were locked out of the game (even ones with away end tickets) as the dodgy police kept nicking people's tickets & then trying to sell them back to other Scotland fans.  That was before I had any points right enough, but managed to get into France, Holland etc. home ends in the past no problem.

There was a fair number of people who saw this coming and didn't renew.

If more people voted with their feet it would force change from the SFA. Not strictly a go at you, it's just annoying how many happy clappers will persist.

Aye probably true, I think I still have about 4/5 away points at the moment, so kept my membership after the Euros, as I thought we had a reasonably doable WC qualifying group.  As the away points disappear over the rest of this campaign & batch of friendlies as we are used as a warm up game for those that have qualified for 2018, there wont be any real incentive to renew I don't think.

We never had 6 poor ones, you are just being obtuse for the sake of it.

We missed out in 2008 by a bawhair and in a group that included the world cup winners, runners up and quarter finalists. Smith and McLeish weren't bad appointments.

Berti got us to a play off and got beaten (soundly) by a brilliant Dutch side. He was terribly treated by the press.

    The other 3 were useless.

Northern Ireland, Iceland, Ireland, Wales et al have squads made up of championship players (and worse) and lower end EPL players yet still have qualified whilst we haven't.

All have competent managers though, we don;t.

Totally agree, yes Georgia away was a disaster, but you only have to remember the crowds & the desperation for tickets for that campaign to see how support has dwindled since then.  Also don't forget that we won the home game against the Dutch as well 1-0, made an absolute Helen Hunt of the return leg right enough.

  9. After watching the Lithuania game I thought 'if we lose this, I cant see me going to another home qualifier (bar the England game) this campaign', as im absolutely fed up watching football that bad, being charged £30 for the priviledge of the entertainment, in a half empty stadium, with a frankly garbage atmosphere.  Going to Wembley next month & will go the home game against them, but for the first time in years I actually feel like I would rather save my money than go to games against Malta, Slovakia & Slovenia at Hampden.  Wont be travelling to any away game after Wembley for this campaign either & at the moment, see no real need to have an SSC membership next campaign, tickets are easy to come by these days

Iv honestly never been this disillusioned with the national team

  10. Im pretty sure Swansea's Scottish influence is due to John McMaster being their chief scout North of the border, he has recommended all of these players to them (and also the reason my team Morton have the boy Samuel on loan this season from them)

To say its a "favour" for an agent and happens all the time is just the voice of a cabbage speaking.

  11. How can anyone put Morrison in their line up........He is complete and utter pish, I don't care how well he performs in a mid/lower table epl team...............There is a reason he doesn't get a game for his own country.................HE WAS BY FAR THE WORST PLAYER ON THE PARK ON FRIDAY.

Agreed, he was mince and to be honest for Scotland the majority of the time he is utter dross. Never liked him as a player and think he is completely over-rated, McArthur or Fletcher should replace him tonight.

Would stick with maloney and probably fletcher. Drop brown and Hutton.

No chance he will drop his captain, but i do agree both Brown & Hutton were stinking on Friday. Whittaker may be a better option tonight than Hutton

The Sun are reporting that Chris Martin is set to start up front for us. I hope not mind you!

Would quite like to see Naismith start up front, good in the air for being a relatively wee guy.

Confident we can get the 3 points tomorrow ! :ok:

Please god no, that Martin has looked an absolute donkey so far. We need pace and movement tonight again their big carthouse centre halves & Martin has neither of those attributes

  12. Our chances of automatic went on Friday more or less, but we still have an outside chance of getting 3rd. Realistically, we will be 4 points behind ROI after tonight, so we need to beat Poland & Gibraltar in our last 2. ROI have Germany at home & Poland away in their last 2, so could easily lose both of them.

Remember, its not down to goal difference, its head to head first and we beat ROI on that as we beat them and drew with them. We only need to take 1 more point from our last 3 games than ROI to get 3rd place. Easier said than done mind you.

  13. For the sake of consistency I wonder if he also has no time for the English-born Scotland fans who will be in the stadium tonight?

People can support who they want, it's no big deal.

Disagree with you. Scottish people supporting Ireland against their own country because of their club allegience, gives me the dry boke. I for one will be giving that wee snake McGeady absolute pelters this evening and in the words of Kevin Keegan, i will love it if we beat them......................LOVE IT.

  14. Perhaps Wotte pulled a chronically underachieving collection of nepotistic know it alls out of their comfort zone and they didnae like it? I've noticed our youth players can now trap a ball, which they definitely couldn't 5 years ago.

I think you may be absolutely correct here. I dont think its any coincidence that since the introduction of Wotte, the PD role & the various facility improvements, our youth teams seem to be able to actually play football and compete at a decent level again. I think another factor is this has happened at the same time there is zero cash in Scottish football, which has forced clubs to blood youth within thier first teams as well. It surely bodes well for the full team in a few years, when these boys start feeding through the ages. It just so happens that a good managerial appointment has our A squad back on song as well, giving a general feeling of moving in the right direction across the board i think.

To be honest, Wotte is the biggest idiot going. So folk disagreeing with are probably correct.

100% wrong, Billy Stark is the unified world champion in the idiot category.

  15. Won't argue that he's been well below par many times for us but deserves another chance under Strachan if he can maintain his club form. Like others I think WGS can get the best out him

Its a strange one, if he keeps performing in the EPL i agree with you to an extent that he deserves another chance, but it would have to be in friendly for me as we couldnt risk him waddling about in a real game. Perhaps he is like Rhodes in that he just doesnt fit in WGS's formation? I actually think Adam has some sort of main man complex and he needs to feel like the top dog in order to perform (i.e. St Mirren, Blackpool & now Stoke), whereas at Rangers and Liverpool where he played with better players, he just couldnt cut it. Same problem he has with Scotland perhaps.

  16. Would think it would make sense to have the June one at home and therefore minimising travel with the ROI away game coming. An away one in March would be better as we will gub Gibraltar at home no matter what

  17. I thought Hutton was absolutely rotten last night. We know he is poor defensively but he just never offered enough going forward either. Saying that I would still have him and Whittaker in ahead of that charlatan Bardsley
