  1. We will be renewing ours as we do go to away games as well and are in a position to be on high points (wasn't always like that!!). Will be renewing the kids as well as they just love going home and away. They will be coming with us to some of the away games as well. I think if the kids said they didn't want to go back then we may not have either. The memberships are part of their Christmas - maybe not the greatest present in the world but that's what they want!! Not that I'm full of enthusiasm though

As some folk on here will already be aware, I've had a battle with mental health issues over the last year, which eventually saw me on anti-depressants.

I came off of these maybe a month ago now as they were leaving me totally lethargic and feeling really hungry all the time. This, coupled with feeling very low, saw me back into some old, bad habits, with regards to comfort eating.

The gist of it means that I went from about 87kg in mid-March to about 100kg now.

Since stopping the medication, my energy levels have came back, so I'm now not getting any worse weight wise, but I'm still not 100% mentally, meaning I'm still often succumbing to eating rubbish when feeling down/low/bored.

That then leaves me feeling bad about myself after I've finished eating whatever rubbish I've picked up to snack on, as I obviously know it's wrong.

My GP has referred me to CBT as they believe that will work better for me than medication, but it could be about 18 weeks until I can get an appointment for that.

In the meantime, anyone have any experience with this sort of issue and strategies/coping mechanisms to beat it?

I know what I'm doing wrong, I know what I NEED to do, I'm just not quite strong enough mentally to do it...

Thank you for sharing your story AND you are stronger than you think, as your post shows. I had similar issues with my weight a few years ago, yo yo diets that didn't work, tired all the time, felt down (not depressed), couldn't be bothered with anything or anyone, you know the script.  Through a friend of mine, I found food combining and this worked for me and I lost over 3 stone and to be honest it really didn't take much effort, although really sceptical at first as I have tried various diets, albeit not particularly healthy and the weight just wouldn't shift.  The first week I lost 4lbs, felt so much healthier, had more energy and after a few weeks found the confidence to join to a gym (would never have done that before) and after about a year got to my target weight and managed to maintain this for a couple of years. Felt so good on the inside that it showed on the outside as well. So much more confidence, able to look people in the eye and laugh again. Then had a really bad foot injury (Scotland trip at its best!!) which stopped me from doing the things that I really enjoyed and the weight started going on again and before I knew it 2 stone was added, felt terrible, lost confidence got myself back into bad habits but have now turned this around again and have lost 1 stone, starting to feel good about myself again, confidence is starting to return again, back at the gym, albeit not as much as I was once as fitness levels are crap and foot still not healed but at least starting to feel good again.  If you want some easy, one pot recipes - not so many dishes to clear up!! drop me a pm and I will try and help as much as possible as I do know how it feels about trying to lose weight and beating yourself up for eating crap.  Like I said above I wasn't depressed so don't know how that feels but I can give you tips on how to snack on fab food without the fat and calories that go with snacking and leave you feeling satisfied and energised. Hope you get back to your former self soon

  3. Has anybody used Go Opti before? About to book it and saw there was something on Trip Adviser (don't usually look at that) and a bit of mix with good and even more bad feedback. I know some people can be unreasonable about certain things that's why I don't bother checking it out but it popped up when I googled Go Opti. Not sure what, if anything, to make of the reviews. If anyone on here has used them before can you share your comments please. Thanks

Finally got round to booking up for this one, is there any way of getting to Ljubjana at a half decent price, ideally looking to go out Saturday and return Monday?

We are out Edinburgh, I think 06.40 arriving Vienna 10.25am (Easyjet) on the Saturday but we are not back until the Wednesday from Zagreb (16.30) to Edinburgh via Brussels (Brussels Airline). Not sure what the flights are like for the Monday as we wanted a couple of days away.

  5. We are going to book Go Opti as well (3 of us in Vienna Saturday morning from Edinburgh (Easyjet flight) arriving at 10.25 am if anybody else on that flight), waiting to see where game will be played first before booking this as it's pay up front and non-returnable. Saves the hassle of the train and changing at Villach as I think we will miss the direct train. Prices are reasonable for the transfers at the moment. Flying back from Zagreb via Brussels to Edinburgh on the Wednesday

  6. If you are going with kids Mellieha, as far north as you can go, has hotels that cater for kids (and a really nice beach), really close to Popeye Village, but if going as a couple wouldn't recommend there as apart from a couple of restaurants in the village not much else going on, although there are buses that take you to anywhere on the island. Sliema is one of my favourite places but it's true come 11pm you will be struggling to find anything open. St. Juliens or Buggiba seem to be the main places for bars etc. No need for taxis as the buses take you anywhere. Valletta is a gorgeous place to visit but really sleepy - worth a visit though. Take the boat over from Sliema and bus back, again to anywhere on the island. If I could afford it I would be there every weekend!!

Every away game without fail, I take the collection option and then regret it when I get there and have to try and find the pick up point.

Missed most of the big party in the square in Dortmund due to it, but will probably still do the same in Lithuania

We were selected for pick up in Bratislava and we couldn't find the hotel, we kept walking right past both ends of the road!!! I have got no sense of direction. Kids were not amused lol

Ha ha, it was a great party too

As you say, if you're ordering for you and the kids then it's probably worth the extra few quid for piece of mind anyway.

    I'm a cheap fecker though :P

I never choose Special Delivery!! I'm all for saving a few quid :). Although pay a fortune on a away games to get there in the shortest possible time normally. Kinda defeats the purpose!!

  9. Fly out on Saturday Edinburgh - Vienna then booked hotels in both Maribor and Ljubljana on Saturday to Tuesday, to be cancelled when game confirmed. Then onto Zagreb on the Tuesday and fly back from there to Edinburgh via Brussels on the Wednesday :)

I got standard post. Did you change it in the section above the names of those buying the tickets?

Yeah although the drop down box "moved" (for want of a better word!!!) the only option was Special Delivery. Bought now as the kids would never speak to me again if I didn't get them lol.

Noticed you can't get on to the  on line ticket site through the SSC page .Maybe that's the last for members well for now anyway or am I doing something wrong .?

Did you get your tickets? I have just ordered ours through the SSC page

  12. Just bought ours this morning (2 adults, 2 kids), not many left by the look of it. Bought for East Stand Section F5 Row G. Can't see there being a public sale. Not giving option for Standard Post either only Special Delivery option. Did click the box to change delivery status but only Special Delivery available so another £7.50 on top of the ticket prices.

  13. I was at Hampden on Sunday for the kids Christmas party and bought the pink strip for my niece - no socks as they don't do them for kids - (4 year old), which was on sale, and the whole strip for my nephew (11 year old) and was told as the strip for my niece was on at a sale price I couldn't get the discount on that but did on the other one. I said the same thing but was told that no further discount would be made on any sale items and this was the shop inside Hampden.

100% about the football for me.

Trips are usually good but i go to watch the football.

Otherwise i'd go when i wasn't surrounded by 1000s of Scot's and paying inflated prices for flights etc.

No wonder our support are sh1te when half them have little interest int eh football and treat it as a stag do.

I'm the same 100% football. When we don't play well this does have an effect for the rest of the trip. It's bad enough coming away with a defeat but a defeat where the team had no fight about them is even worse. I know I'm not the only one who feels like this.

Your last three competitive games were Georgia, Ireland and Slovakia add on the friendlies and that has to be the worst run ever. (don't count Malta) and you want to carry on.

Your kids will love it we ever get any good again, and that's the whole point in following football.

Can't blame anyone for not going unless they live in London.

Exactly and the rest this year were friendlies (apart from Malta and Slovakia) - not even particularly good games :(

  16. We were the same really had to think long and hard about this game but in the end we booked (we are 10 pointers so to miss this would have been huge for us - not gloating just stating a fact). Want to give the kids, 11 year olds, who have been to a good few games over the past couple of years, the Wembley experience. As already been said it costs a fortune travelling away - I don't even want to think about how much we've spent over the years on trips!! If we could at least be guaranteed a decent game of football in every game, not expecting to win every game but at least come out fighting like we did against Germany, Italy and France, not this year unfortunately, over the years then everybody would feel different. It's the lack of fight in the team that is now getting to me. Don't know if it's anything to do with the way the manager's got them playing or just the players in general (or I'm getting old!!) but something's got to change. As Vanderark says it's also now that we get games all week and not so easy for getting time off etc. Not everybody has the luxury of being able to take a week off from work for a mid-week trip.
