  1. I'm posting this on behalf of a friend. He currently has a stunning signed Scotland home strip from the last campaign up for auction on the Tartan Army Facebook page. It is currently sitting at the relatively modest total of £350 and he would naturally like to see this figure rose.

All monies will be donated to a Motor Neurone Disease charity and bids are accepted up to 1pm on Saturday.

Maybe someone more technically savvy than me can insert a picture of the strip?

Please bid on the Tartan Army Facebook page, my friend is called John Burns.

On the same flight ,have another look at train prices you can get a single to Metz for £26

Thanks for this. We have persevered and eventually got tickets from Gare De L'Est to Metz for circa £20 per person. There's a massive difference in price on some trains. Some were around £400 for six of us and we actually went to the trouble of getting a taxi quote and car hire quote.

If it is of interest to people, we were quoted 680 Euros for a Mercedes Viano 7-seater taxi from Paris to Metz and a Ford Galaxy on car hire was coming in at around £180 for Fri to Sun.

Thankfully I can now step down as designated driver and get pished with the rest of them!

  4. Anyone else on the Easyjet Glasgow to Paris flight that arrives at 1.45pm on Friday 3rd June?

Six of us are on this route, returning Sunday night at 21.55.

We were looking to get the train direct to Metz but having had a quick  look and the prices are extortionate for trains that would involve a four hour wait at CDG.

Now considering a taxi/minibus or a coach if the numbers were there and there was someone who had the wherewithal to organise.

    Any other suggestions?

  5. If people book or don't book that's their choice.

Now, I'm away to bed. It's good night Vienna from me

Good night. I'd be away to bed too if I had a luxurious mattress to sleep on!

  6. My source has come up trumps 3 times already with information I've shared ?

As I say, you may well be proved right.

I don't profess to know this game is 100 per cent on whereas you seem completely convinced it isn't to the extent you are putting people off booking.

I do know, however, from reading French press that more than one person in France believes this game is going ahead in Metz on June 4th.

If it is now off then I'd say with almost 100 per cent certainty that it must have been on the table at some stage for the French media to have reported this in the way they have done.

  7. Pm me and ill tell you the source mate

Very kind offer but I'm fascinated by the fact you know before some extremely well connected journalists in France do of their country's match schedule.

I'm sure others would be happy to see the source for your certainty. I'm only asking for a source on the Czech Republic part. You may well be right on both counts and if so must have an amazing source.

  8. RMC, L'Equipe, France Bleu and a multitude of French regional papers all have this game as a 99 per cent done deal with one paper stating 'barring a last minute twist...'

Unless there has been a 'last minute twist?'

  9. This might be the game ( if it happens ) that gets me on the road to divorce :(

Surely your French wife won't go in that much of a huff if Maloney does a Faddy?

  10. I'm not saying 100 per cent that the game IS on but enough credible news sources in France have suggested it is happening to give me enough confidence to gamble on booking flights.

I lived in France and believe there is less a culture of speculation amongst the media than we have in Scotland.

Debian seems 100 per cent convinced the other way but given that there is absolutely zero mention on any French media site I have read (on a daily basis) regarding a friendly with Czech Republic in place of the Scotland game I'm not entirely sure where he is getting that information from.

He may well be right and the French media may well be wrong. But the worst case scenario for

me right now is that I end up with a couple of nights on the beer in France and take in one of their build-up games - v Scotland or anyone else.

  11. I'm not as convinced as Debian that this game is a definite no-no. I'm fluent in French and have read every available media source in France that has reported on this game.

The 'rumour' started in France where they would have little value in speculating on such a fixture. It's not headline-grabbing in the same way as it is the other way round.

It's been re-reported and developed across multiple local newspapers - with some local to Metz inferring that officials from the club have confirmed the stadium is booked for a game with Scotland and the biggest selling sports paper L'Equipe reporting it within the body of a story as fact.

I've yet to see the link to the source that Debian is basing his certainty on. On that basis my gut instinct tells me it's been a worthwhile gamble to book flights given how costly it will be should this game get confirmed.

  12. Could very easily have cut my loses after the Belarus game in 2005 (and did come very close to when I got home that night), yet probably one of the best trips ever came out of it a few days later in Slovenia.

Scotland are going to win comfortably in Faro, so even if we are out, think it will still be a great trip :ok:

Went to Croatia after we were out and it was the best away trip ever.
