  1. The corresponding fixture in the Home Internationals at Wembley attracted 90,000 in 1981. Scotland won 1-0 with a John Robertson penalty. The biggest crowd I've been in to date is 81,511 at Hampden four months later - a World Cup qualifier v Sweden. 2-0 win (Jordan, Robertson (pen))...

  2. There are loads of good boozers in London within 45 minutes on the underground from Wembley. Not sure what we'll be doing this time around. Trafalgar square is good for a laugh for a short time, watching the inevitable fruitloops getting soaked in the fountains, but I cannae be arsed hanging about there for hours on end. The area around Arsenal's ground looked decent, last time I was there, might give that a whirl, or I'll see if there are any TA pre-match party venues on the go...

What if you haven't taken a flight between Edinburgh and London do you just make it up and hope they give you a special code.

I said I was planning to fly on the day of the game. Which I was. Swear on my dead budgie's life...

Cancelled my original flights but still a hell of a lot cheaper even with cancellation costs.

Cheers for the tip! £60 return from Dundee for the two of us. What a bargain!!!

Just need to get the match tickets now...

On the train to the game on Saturday not one Scotland fan challenged a song about ''hating the fu**ing English''

If that isn't intolerance towards someone's nationality then I don't know what is

Its the social norm (rightly or wrongly) not to challenge offensive songs by fellow supporters.

That's not strictly true. There is a line that gets crossed when you would expect someone to speak out. Racist behaviour for instance. Obviously you have to do a quick risk assessment whether it's safe to do so first...

Don’t see the problem with booing the team off at FT after what was a pretty poor performance. I also think there's an element of frustration of just wanting to qualify for a tournament, especially after watching all ‘home nations’ compete at one in the summer. I found it more bizarre that some stayed behind to applaud the players off the park at FT.

Both the booing at full-time and the applauding were probably understandable. This might seem like a contradiction but while acknowledging it was a disappointing performance and outcome, the level of acrimony by a few people round about me went way over the top, almost from the first whistle. We all deal with frustration in different ways but I remain convinced that the players respond to encouragement rather than abuse (even when it's directed at the manager). It got to the stage that I was more pissed off at the levels of abuse than the performance on the park. A lot of it is human nature but I think the fact that it started so early in the game in particular kind of pissed me off...

  7. i actually don't mind folk who have no interest in the national team or are ambivalent towards us. I used to find it a bit strange that some Celtic fans preferred the Republic to Scotland but this hatred by a section of the Rangers' support has taken it to a new level. The scale of vitriol and paranoia on Follow Follow is actually quite disturbing. I really hope these nutjobs are in the minority...

Wallace plays for Rangers that's why a minority boo him.  A minority of die hard Yes voters who haven't gotten over the fact No won the referendum and Rangers celebrate everything Yes voters hate.  Might be wrong but that's my opinion, no one can deny there is a strong hatred for Rangers amongst a lot of the TA.

I've never had a problem with any Rangers player playing for Scotland, or with Rangers fans who follow us - there are a few on the bus that I travel on. I have a big problem with the bile spouted by Rangers fans on internet forums against Scotland and the Tartan Army by a section of their support. As previously stated I find booing individuals and the team embarrassing and counter-productive...

  9. I thought the draw was about right. It has to be said that Lithuania played to their strengths, defended well and were dangerous on the break, whereas we switched off for their goal, which was totally avoidable. We struggled to create many clear goalscoring opportunities - Leigh Griffiths had the best chance with the header. When we lifted the tempo we did look more threatening and did well out wide but a combination of poor deliveries and compact defending denied us. I don't think it was a terrible performance, I've seen many poorer ones over the years and I also think we under estimated the opposition, who are probably just as good as Slovakia and Slovenia. Points are going to be won and lost between these three countries and second place is still very much up for grabs. We need to raise our game up a notch and remain focused in defence for the whole game though. Something, I think, we should be capable of...

Still a few sections not been opened in West and East Stands either.  This looks like its going to be under 40k.  Very sad and SFA should be addressing the situation.  Be interesting to see our attendances at Hampden on a Saturday for the last 15 games.  This will be the lowest turn out.

Right! That's taken me the best part of two hours. Someone else check what day of the week they all took place - cannae be arsed...

  11. Is there any possibility of an occasional game getting played in Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Perth or Fife at any level - youth, under 21, women's?

Virtually every game is now taking place in the west of Scotland...

  12. We went to the Viccy and it was mobbed. Good atmosphere with a DJ playing the tunes but needed a couple of extra staff on the bar. Went down the road to McNeill's and it was almost empty. Made the mistake of heading to the International which was queued out the door so went to the pub at the east side of Hampden. Same story and a nightmare to get served, only got inside because the security staff outside all went running after some wee fanny let off a firecracker nearby. Should have stuck with McNeill's... :cheers3:

  13. Sometimes the wee fella is too clever for his own good and doesn't come across well at press conferences but I think the biggest test of a manager at any level is how those he manages rate him.

I'd stick by him. The margin of error at international level is ridiculously small and we had one poor game away at Georgia and one disappointing performance in Ireland when we managed a draw. I was one of many that was gutted for the players after Thursday...
