On the couple of occasions I have watched Griffiths play for Scotland...I have to say he never impressed me unfortunately.

He is not a miss today doubt he would have started.

I agree he hasn't played particularly well but look at the games he has been involved with from the start away against croatia and home against belgium with nothing to work with and a handful of late sub appearances. I think u are badly mistaken if you think we don't miss a 40 goal striker. he is the only striker we have that can create something out of nothing to dig us out a hole

Griffiths has yet to even find the net for us even though he has played against weaker opposition as well (like Fletcher has).

by weak opposition u mean a late sub against luxemborg away and a start against qatar. fletcher has 2 goals in 26 games, most of them probably starts  f you take away the games against Gibraltar

Yes and sorry but I have seen many Scots strikers score early in their Scotland careers as sub such as Dougie Freedman, Chris Martin, Craig Mackaill-Smith etc so why not Griffiths if he is such a talent? The way people go on about him I'd expect an even better return than those I mentioned but there hasn't been. Why?

I think lots of posters are judging Griffiths from a handful of starts 3 years ago when he wasn't half the player he is today.

He is absolutely lethal, can now score all types of goals (including headers) from any conceivable distance, and his hold up play has improved dramatically.

I find it hard to see how someone could argue he's not our best all round striker at the moment.

A big miss tonight IMO.

hope Fletcher/Martin/Watt can do the business instead.

Even so.......!

He's utterly appalling.

He is, I agree, but if he is good at one thing it's scoring against not-very-good defences.

If he has someone playing alongside him, or close to him, maybe this could be his night.

Maybe.
