Experiments...

Replying to all. Sure, we could do song titles alphabetically, maybe per week (e.g. changing midnight Friday) - that would be simplest.

And /or could do thematically, again may work best per week (to give time to get the idea) (again how about changeover midnight Friday).

And/or could to thematically by hashtag, where you pick up on a previous hashtag and match it and move on. But needs to catch on in practice.

No idea what that last paragraph means or why you keep putting #something#something else after the vids.

Anyway,

Was going to post that earlier but it seemed a bit rude. However I see I'm not the only one who doesn't know what # means.

OK Ok, forget the hash tag then. How about, each week someone suggests a new theme, starting Saturday morning. Or put another way, first suggestion after Friday midnight becomes the theme of the week.

p.s. # Its just a way of indicating a keyword or theme to latch on to. So if I post a Vaselines song I suggest 3 keywords, to suggest themes to pick up on, ie #v, #nirvana or #vaseline. So next person could do another V, or pick on #nirvana and post another band with some connection to Nirvana, or else another song referencing Vaseline. But maybe that's too complicated. I'll maybe give it one last go...

Yeah, again, I assume, someone posts a song, I'll post something related. we'll wander along the road. hopefully it'll all get a bit messy and we'll all learn a bit. Is that what # is.

Yes, so you can get from warren zevon to ACDC via hippy chick in two steps. If you so choose.

The # just indicates a proposed active search term.

In the olden days was that what we called ' thinking about' stuff.

Yep, I'm sure it does. I've still no idea what that means. Again .no offense, but are you some computer type person, or is  that normal written language 2020.

It's used on Twitter (and I think Instagram and who knows what else) as a way of indicating a search term.

So if you are interested in any topic - say #SCOvENG on today's rugby, then you can search by #SCOvENG and find anyone and everyone in the world (on Twitter) who is consciously making a comment about that match. Or #bbcqt for Question Time. Conversely if you are the one making a comment about Question Time, if you add #bbcqt it means everyone following that hashtag that evening can see your comment (rather than just a handful of people if you posted it here).

(Obviously on here it's not directly used in the same way. But on the other hand it could literally be searchable on Google, if someone was literally searching the internet for #nirvana and #werewolves they could find this thread).

Yeah, it all sounds horrible as I suspected. I recall a poster on here who went on toTwitter to control the internet and came running back when some bad people frightened them.

Well each to their own. I just imagine trying to describe a message board to ourselves 20 years ago. Well you dial up the internet and you go to a sort of screen and you type in comment on the day's football match - a bit like writing a letter to the paper, except it actually gets published, instantly, and then someone may come along and reply or else ignore it and say something different or put a smiley face or give you abuse for supporting a different team and then you do it all over again...
