Doric
Just looked at the Pool tables. I see S Africa have 2 points. How can you get 2 pts for losing ?
fringo
Just looked at the Pool tables. I see S Africa have 2 points. How can you get 2 pts for losing ? I think you get a point for a loss (mad if true) and a point for losing within 7 points. I could be wrong on both counts though.
Orraloon
bonus point for scoring 4 tries. Bonus point for being within 7 points.
Orraloon
Those two bonus points that SA got could be crucial. But at least we got the full 5 points (4 for a win and a bonus point for 4 tries). Can't do any more than that. The +35 points difference might help out at the end of the group as well maybe. Agree, and our defence in the closing minutes could prove valuable for the same reason. They showed great commitment and sound discipline especially since the 5 points were long won by then
jerseyscot
The first decider if any teams are equal on points at the end of the group stage is the result of the game between them, it is then the points difference and then the tries for minus tries against difference
Orraloon
I think if 3 teams are tied on match points, it goes to total points difference over the whole group. http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/tournament-rules "If at the completion of the pool phase two or more Teams are level on Match points, then the following criteria shall be used in the following order until one of the Teams can be determined as the higher ranked: The winner of the Match in which the two tied Teams have played each other shall be the higher ranked; The Team which has the best difference between points scored for and points scored against in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked; The Team which has the best difference between tries scored for and tries scored against in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked; The Team which has scored most points in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked; The Team which has scored most tries in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked; Should the tie be unresolved at the conclusion of steps 1 through 5, the rankings as per the updated Official World Rugby World Rankings on October 12, 2015 will determine the higher ranked Team"
