Literally getting the news from reading this, went to BBC website, talking about 14% over and dehydration, the sample was corrected for specific gravity not dehydration and it was still 1429 with a limit of 1000. Looks like Froome tried what Tyson Fury did and just extend the process so much it is no longer financially viable to continue the process. phart
Well this has caused quite the stir, not least cause two other tour riders have been suspended for less, so that opens up CAS for both of them. UCI with the press release. " The UCI understands that there will be significant discussion of this decision, but wishes to reassure all those involved in or interested in cycling that its decision is based on expert opinions, WADA’s advice, and a full assessment of the facts of the case. The UCI hopes that the cycling world can now turn its focus to, and enjoy, the upcoming races on the cycling calendar. " Without releasing any of the working. phart
A quick look round the forums the tour is going to be interesting this year, there will be a lot of misguided fools going for team SKY and especially Froome. Piss will be the least of their problems. ASO just banned him from the tour yesterday and now he is back. I'm dying to see the scientific working. The submitted paper on salbumtol was based on dogs ffs. Then used models to fit it to humans and then didn't even correspond with it's own predictions. We have some insight into SKY's overall package though. Abuse TUE's with ventolin, probably injecting it to get it that high. Kenacort injections. Testosterone patches that were delivered "by mistake" to Team SKY. Blood bags. The SKY doctor who was too ill to testify in the Wiggins case is now writing a book and doing TV interviews as well. phart
Now that's it's all been swept under the rug the least they can do is give us a banging Tour de France. That stage at the Giro was a brilliant piece of drama where Froome made up all the time. Giro tour double 4 GT's in a row. Then on to the Veulta to try and get 3 in one go and go down as the greatest cyclist of all time.

phart
Sky just released loads of data from the Giro. Froome max heartbeat on the final climb of that awesome ride was 159. His max heartbeat on the Strava training ride was 183. Resting heartrate of 32 is pretty good as well, however quite a few athletes get it that low or lower. Michael Bisping comes to mind

biffer
Does anyone understand the Physics of the Osymetric rings? I can kind of see that there should be a benefit to having a longer lever at different parts of your downward push as how hard you can push as the position / direction will change slightly, but I was never that good at rotational mechanics, so I'm not certain. I can also see how that could be different for different riders so a better ability to analyse it (and match the bike set up) in a team can provide an advantage. No idea it fucks about with power readings though, so they can't be pinned down. I've read various accounts that you can change the shape of the non-round to put the max effort on pedal where muscle is strongest but no one has been able to replicate it in experiment yet, it seems to show it's better for amateur riders who haven't an equal effort all the way round the pedal. phart
from French newspapers and translated " According to an expert from the anti-doping community: "It was crazy, they had never seen that at the UCI, a file so thick, with so many expert opinions." A dozen scientists are quoted in these pages, not counting those who have worked anonymously. In spring, a source close to the procedure confided that all specialists in the metabolism of salbutamol were contacted by Mike Morgan, for help Christopher Froome but especially not to help the UCI. " " The experts of the UCI had however rejected one by one the explanations advanced by the Councils of Froome: The heat on the day of the control, dehydration, its special diet, the interaction with other medicines... " " "At the moment, there is no questioning of regulation," assures the world Olivier Rabin, scientific director of the agency. Three months ago he was absolutely certain that the concentration limit of salbutamol was of absolute scientific strength, attested by numerous studies, and recalled that it had already been successfully defended before the arbitral Tribunal of Sport. " Other experts from the anti-doping community are formal: Wada was afraid of an expensive trial and the decision to classify the case did not come from the scientific director, but from the management of the Agency, whose budget is lower than that of the Sky team alone. Laura Muir was going to work with one of Salazars strength and conditioning coaches last year but negative press appared to change her mind. phart
So Freeman the British Cycling Doctor finally goes into the dock today and admits he has told a "lot of lies", annoying he is going to be the sacrifical lamb in this while everyone else walks, but in some sort of schadenfreude moment the case means that shane Sutton has to admit impotence as the test was for him, which if you know him is hilarious. First day today so just getting started, statue of limitations happened sometime in the summer so no real sanctions possible anyway hence i imagine all the delays till now.
