neilser
Apparently we'd all become foreigners overnight, even those who live and work in England. Really??? What a lot of fecking drivel. You don't lose your status as a UK citizen by virtue of living in a state outside the UK and you certainly don't lose it ifg you live and work in England when the country of your birth secedes from the UK. Even ignoring the technical aspect, he's a petty, vindictive little - the idea that you should look down on someone that's 'foreign' seems to be underlying all of this. Why didn't he come out with this when the Commonwealth Games were on? There were lots of 'foreigners' there, some of whose ancestors would also have 'marched together' with UK troops 100 years ago... Anyone whose vote is swayed by this pish needs to have their head examined. Rant over. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scottish-independence/11086452/John-Major-Scots-have-not-thought-through-foreigner-independence-implications.html#disqus_thread Edited September 10, 2014 by neilser
ErsatzThistle
The man lives in some weird 1930's fantasy bubble where Britannia still rules the waves and quarter of the world is coloured pink on the atlas. Feck him. Is this true or not, did Major not once say that Scottish devolution would end "1000 years of British history" ?
jockodile
to be fair to the likes of Major Britain and England are virtually the same. Britain used to have an empire and run the world, it doesn't anymore but deludes itself to an extent through special relationship, nuclear weapons and most important being a perm member of the security council. A Scotland less UK throws that reality into stark focus.
