Timeless Albums - Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere - Tartan Army Message Board Jump to content

Recommended Posts

After a skinful, a few of us who are musicians had a debate about timeless albums. It was varied to say the least. Any additions?

Amongst mine were

Heavy Weather - Weather Report

Aja - Steely Dan

Off the Wall - Michael Jackson

Led Zeppelin 4

The Nightfly - Donald Fagen

Songs In the Key of life - Stevie Wonder

Converge - Jane Doe

Botch - We are the Romans

Cave In - Until your heart stops

Metallic hardcore peaked late 90's. Nothing in the genre will ever beat them and they still sound relevant 14 years later.

Slint - Spiderland

Mogwai - Young Team

2 of the defining 'post rock' albums. Masterpieces.

Radiohead - OK computer

At the drive in - relationship of command

Self explanatory.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Trick of the Tail - Genesis

Pet Sounds - Beach Boys

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

The Wall - Pink Floyd

III - Peter Gabriel

Anything by Half Man Half Biscuit

Absolutely - Madness

Flood - They Might Be Giants

Out of the Blue - ELO

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks

Am I the only one who thinks the SPs are the most overrated band in history. Can't stand them.

Three sides live? Surely that was them at their peak?

Most important (and honest) band in history.

We agree on something, I guess you need to be of a certain age to appreciate how important the Pistols were.

As for this thread Joy Division's two albums and Status Quo Live at the Apollo (which really takes me back), though if I could only listen to one song ever again it would be Atmosphere by Joy Division (which like Dead Souls isn't on either album).

Oh aye and Tears for Fears were pish.
