what's going to happen when Park want the loans repaid? Are Rangers going to break even never mind turn a profit? Will they need to sell a load of players in january? Will they die  the same year as the queen?

Looks like Gerrard will be off.

He leaves Rangers in a much better position and the managers job will be much more attractive now.

4 points clear in the league, possibility of getting out of Europa group stage but no real pressure as they arent favs, probably the best squad in the league and although Celtic have impressed much more than many, myself included this season they still look like they will drop points. Winner if the league goes into champions league proper so thats a big incentive aswell.

football wise maybe - 38 Million of losses last 2 years, likely 50 last 3, and soft loans since he arrived

Rightly or wrongly im not sure how how much attention an incoming manager would pay to that if he is given assurances about budget etc.

Its hard to tell what state Rangers are in financially. Clearly they are still operating at a huge loss but to a certain extent it is being managed and to me it appears that there has been signs of a levelling off.

For example 23 million in a year seems like a huge loss (and it is) however alot of that is down to Covid. Celtic is regarded as running a very financially sound club and they made loss of 11.5 million last year.

If you believe what you read, Rangers were tied into all kinds of contracts that werent good for the club under Ashley. It would take time to get out of these / let them expire and then put in place better contracts. From what ive seen Rangers have increased the number of partners but the value ler partner is still relatively low compared to what you might expect. This should improve over time as the club continues to be either winning the league or challenging for it.

Add in the pot of gold for Champs league and things have the potential to look very different next year. That being said, if Celtic win the league Rangers might be faced with having a clear out to balance the books.

Van Bronckhorst more or less a done deal. Pretty happy with that appointment.

A fine player and a decent fella by all accounts. Not sure what kind of manager he'll be but at least the huns didn't fuck about with his appointment.

Won something like 4 trophies in 3 years at Feyenoord including their first league title in 18 years so parallels with Gerrard with us (except the 4 trophies, obvs). Apparently also plays a similar style to the one we have currently so seems a good fit.

Could be very good then if he gets some spending money 👍

That’s a big if. I’m guessing it’s a sell to spend model. Or it should be anyway.

A bit more tricky for him then especially if the buyers aren't lining up. As you say though, this is the perfect opportunity for them to 'get real' financially.

I don't think people have grasped the rangers business model.

They wildly overspend to buy the league and then rich benefactors come in and bail them out through fresh capital, soft loans or whatever.

This went on for the 125 years before the went into liquidation and it has resumed in the years post liquidation with the new club.

Big losses, new capital; to keep afloat. It is a pattern you are going to see over and over.

The ONLY reason this model failed was they bit off more than the next guy could chew with the EBTs and HMRC. That was the only reason the wheels came off.

The chances of them being that monumentally stupid again are (you would think) quite slim at least in the medium term.

So they will be 'fine' but they will continue to over spend and rely on sugar daddies (of a blue nose persuasion) who are quite happy to bankroll their 'success'.

I honestly don't understand how FIFA fair play rules do not apply. It is the most blatant long term structural 'buying of the league' in the western world.

To the point they almost suffocated the Scottish league. Look at how poorly we have developed since the 80's versus English Football which went stratospheric just by not being managed by the SFA and having two clubs have a monopoly over decision making. We ended up with a stale boring uninteresting product that no one want to buys in comparison.
