Sectarian Singing

Recommended Posts

Stewart Regan suggested on twitter that the SFA and Police are unable to act on sectarian singing, unless it's in one of their competitions - hence no action from the league cup semi final.

Have a look at his twitter timeline from last night if you can

The police can't act because it's nothing to do with the SFA? Regan's lost the phuqqing place.

@StewartMRegan: @weehairy @mrewanmurray What's your suggestion to address thousands of people chanting inappropriate songs then? Police cannot arrest them.

Surely clubs can be given fines or expelled or banned from competitions?

They probably can if it's any other club. For the sake of Scottish football and Scottish society long bans for both of them for every offence should be dished out.

there where plenty of arrests on Sunday. Police need to enforce the law. Problem is the Scottish Govt have not listed what songs are offensive and thankfully they dont use the TAMB as a barometer for being offended otherwise football stadiums would be silent

I think all future OF games should be played behind closed doors and each incidence of sectarian singing should result in a game played behind closed doors.

And every Aberdeen game should be behind closed doors for singing their Ibrox disaster ditty and the vile chants about Ian Durrant?

Or is it just the Of?

What about the sectarian singing at Edinburgh derbies? Put Hibs and Hearts behind closed doors too?

The usual what aboutery from the rangers fans on here. No other set of fans can compare to this group of Catholic hating bigots but Regan shows himself up once again as a spineless waster.

What a lot of pish regan spouts as the sfa are meant to be the guardians of the scottish game.Every competition comes under their gaze and they have the power to do everything possible to sort these idiots out but dont want to.They also should have the power to look at the pricing structures of teams aswell as everything else they goes on in each league. If they say they dont then can all get tae feck as whats the point of them being there.

DEAL!

that would cut out those songs (which I don't think have been sung for years anyway) from Pittodrie for good.

Great idea - and every time the OF sing their hate, they have to play behind closed doors too

Agree completely

There were 19 arrests at the ground. One is assuming more than 19 were belting out the greatest hits.

What absolute cop out bollox. Any associated club can be punished for the behaviour of their fans at anytime. Or at least should be, regardless of competition. This really is beyond a joke.

Bang on.

The Whataboutery by Rangers fans on here is quite frankly offensive in itself.

The thread is titled sectarian singing but as per they are quick to try talk about something else.

2 clubs indulge in this on a regular basis and very little is done.

Not buying the 'everyone is doing what they can line either'.

Very easy for Police and even clubs themselves to film supports an take action afterwards if lifting them all is not possible. Don't need to lift them all - just charge and prosecute a dozen or so every time it happens until the message gets through.

The SFA & SPFL can easily charge clubs themselves - hand out a warning then start to fine clubs and dock points as well as expel or ban from competitions.

What is the point of the game and politicians having laws and rules in place if a blind eye is turned when certain clubs are involved?
