Return of Yermaw
Would have thought it would have been ideal preparation to play the nucleus of Sunday's team in a friendly. I see the Germans are playing tonight and with all the other more obvious advantages they hold over us, they are likely to be that wee bit sharper as a result. Can't help but think we are missing a real trick with this..........
1320lichtie
I can't help but think we aren't. I'd be pissed off if we had a game tonight and lost guys due to an injury.
Return of Yermaw
Considerably more benefits from a friendly than negatives - including the risk of an injury......
ErsatzThistle
Depends who could have been available for a game. No point playing the same old teams over and over again. If the opposition available had been the Faroes, Lithuania or the Czech Republic then we needn't have bothered. On the other hand if we returned the favour to former opposition and got either Estonia away or Slovenia at Pittodrie we could have given the new faces like Forsyth, Reynolds, C McGregor, McDonald and Martin a game which would have been handy. Green_Tide_Rising
Considering we are playing OMAN .....i would be quite happy not to be playing a friendly this evening...... very little to be gained from playing that lot
McToot
IMO any game is better than no game. The players play together so little as it is that additional game time is important so the players understand each others games.
JECK
aye quite happy that theres no friendly for us the night.players should be sharp enough with 3 weeks of the donestic season gone. i'd be ragin if a couple of players got injured. Robroysboy
Remember reading in the paper a few weeks back saying wee chesney turned down friendlies cos he wanted extra time for team bonding and training Same tactic as Walter smith, he took the squad to man us training ground on a friendly date. Paid dividends as he went on a glorious run of results before eck took over. Edited September 3, 2014 by Robroysboy
PASTA Mick
If we did have a friendly tonight, the focus of the last few days would have been on who we were playing and getting ready for that match. Without a game tonight, we've been able to put all the focus onto the Germany match and really work on a game plan for that one massive challenge. I bet the squad are together now watching Argentina beat Germany and looking at any small weaknesses they have and figuring out the best way to exploit them. Also, I'm sure we have a rotten record in the 2nd match of double headers.
Goozay
Didn't play a friendly before Croatia in Zagreb and there was loads of chat on here about players being rusty because the season had finished. Turned up "cold" and we were magic. The-more-games-the-better mantra is just daft, if it were true your club team would play full 90 minute games twice a day. When it comes to friendlies you need to play the right team at the right time.

If a few fans turn up outside the ground for the Morton practice match, they might as well just let them in.
Snapperone
The rumour on here was for us to be playing in Copenhagen. I know that because the hotel I reserved - and cancelled in March - phoned me up last night to ask where I was! Just as well I kept the cancellation email.
