Another champagne socialist who will make things harder for the working classes while preaching how he understands how difficult things are

He's all things to all men. A populist opportunist who hasn’t got the first idea of what the daily struggles are like for millions up and down the UK 

He had a somewhat privileged upbringing and even went to Cambridge. He was hardly brought on a diet of faggots and gravy while topping and tailing with his siblings wearing their handmedoons

I think I already dislike Burnham more than Starmer. Burnham reminds me of a college lecturer trying to be 'down with the kids' but who actually turns out to be more of a cunt than any of the sterner older lecturers.

His carefully crafted public image - his smart-casual wardrobe, his wanker glasses, the 'Andy from the north' schtick - reeks of New Labour superficiality, which figures, as the people behind him are the same crowd who ran Jacinda Ardern's campaigns in New Zealand and have also worked with 'Creepy' Jim Murphy's political lobbying group.

Starmer was a wooden, uncharismatic and authoritarian PM, who tried to legislate his way out of every problem, but he had least done the hard yards in opposition and prior to politics had a successful career at high levels of the legal profession - something which no doubt gave him a good grounding when representing the UK on the world stage.

Burnham, on the other hand, is a career politician and little more than image, soundbites and ego. He doesn't strike me as particularly clever either, which is going to be a problem not least because the outgoing administration appear to be deploying a scorched earth policy of leaving a pile of niggly shite that will really test his 'social democratic good guy from the north' image to its limits. I don't think it will be long before the cunty college lecture reveals itself, and I will be very surprised if he survives as long in post as his predecessor.

i think he will be a wolf in sheeps clothing.  You are right… he has the image of “hey kids im on your side”….  On your side if your are a lefty weirdo of varying persuasions.  
 

not on your side if you have worked hard or are working hard to make a life for your family.

i suspect and fear he will “ask those with the broadest shoulders for a little bit more”…. Which translates to not asking but telling middle classes not the uber rich to fund the out of control welfare bill and he will do it through wealth tax.  I expect…

- something very horrible on capital gains tax.  Those of us with shares will get stiffed.

- land value tax… a reform of council tax to stiff the middle class.

- further inheritance tax reform.  If you die with assets we will have them thank you.

I think if anything it's likely to have the opposite effect. Many if not most working people have some kind of limitations placed on them in terms of how they dress while at work; they might be expected to wear a uniform or adhere to a dress code of some kind.

My own job requires me to venture out into the real world amongst the public quite frequently and when I do I am expected to wear a shirt and tie, which I don't mind, but the irony is, as a civil servant, Burnham is technically my boss and he's the one who has decided he's going to cut about in a t-shirt and shacket. I guess when you are the boss you can do as you please, but ironically that is the opposite of the statement he's trying to make!
