Aye, drew 1-1 at Portman Road then pasted them 3-1 at home. I think Ipswich were the UEFA Cup holders at the time too. Should've been 4-1 but the ref made Strachan take a penalty kick again cos the keeper had moved and he then missed the retake.

Think that was the same year Dundee United were beating Barcelona home and away? Or was it the year Roma bribed the ref £50,000 in the semi of the European cup against United.

Almost three years apart. 1981/82 when an all Scottish team Aberdeen beat the defending UEFA champions Ipswich with three key Scots, Burley, Wark and Brazil.

1983/84 all Scottish team Dundee United beat Roma 2-0 at home before, as you said, controversially losing 3-0 in Rome.

How times change.
