That not saying the USA trip wasn’t fantastic, but Germany was more wholly committed to the tournament, every single person knew it was on, and the country was consumed by it. It was far less a fleecing exercise compared to the World Cup and transport was free in some cases but definitely cheaper. Nothing against USA as I had a great time but facts are facts Quote

Which I ‘preferred’ and which I’d like to do another tournament in throw up different answers. It may just be the novelty factor as I go to Germany quite frequently whereas that’s only the third time I’ve been to the US, but I’d say I actually enjoyed the World Cup more than Euro 2024, which I’m surprised about. Not even sure I could fully explain that but it just felt much more pleasant and jovial. Contrary to that though if I was handpicking another tournament host it’d be Germany for the reasons listed above. The World Cup was great for those that could afford to go but far too many people missed out because of the cost. Throw in the relative ease with which you can get out of the host city and see a bit more of the country in Germany and it’s a no brainer. Quote

The euros is a lot smaller, yes Germany had great infrastructure, but America have incredible stadiums. The stadium/match day experience for me (bar the transport!) at the world cup for me, is on another level. It's a myth about Americans not investing in the world cup because I saw with my own eyes how passionate they were about team USA and soccer! The difference for me was in Germany, it was easier for the fans to take over a place and there was a central meet up place to congregate. We were deffo more spread out in the USA. I don't think it's right to compare tho. The world cup and the euros is a different vibe! I'd love the world cup to be in Europe for convenience, but it's the world cup - traveling further to somewhere different makes it more special/exciting to me. Quote

Giant cans of Stella will always be a massive plus for me but the whole experience especially on the first game was beyond impressive. Seriously, Germany was amazing, loved the country, the people, the beer and they get football. Totally. The US was a totally different experience altogether, I think from a football perspective Germany but for the experience, the US. Quote

Perhaps add a stadium upgrade in Dresden and you've got the host venues. I probably agree though you are more likely to get them adding Amsterdam and a couple of Polish grounds say Warsaw and Wroclaw than that. Quote

Skyline Drifter Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I'm not really in an ideal position to compare. Due to circumstances I only got to one game in Germany and dived in and out with my son for it. We were only there two nights. And it was the Hungary one so the atmosphere was pretty flat after the game. We were in the US for a fortnight and it was fabulous. Plus it was a World Cup and that extra aspect of running into non European fans too. If you ignore the cost aspect then definitely the World Cup for me but I didn't get to experience the best of Germany and I may think a little differently if I had. Quote

Only teams from the continents of North and South America will be involved (although after a quick google the format and amount of entrants is a tad sketchy) Quote
