You and one or two others really drag this place into mud.

I come on here to discuss the national team with passionate ppl and instead the place is polluted with ppl like you who can't discuss anything like an adult and constantly resort to abuse and insults.

Why are you this angry?

All you have done is made snidey little insults.

The guys made legit points, if you don't like what he says then either ignore it or counter it with your own points.

You are without a doubt the most delusional individual that has ever existed on this board. And Im including Khraiegh in that.

I don’t think anyone’s expectation was for us to go to the World Cup and outplay Brazil and Morocco.

We never competed the way we know we can. That is my main gripe. Morocco never had to move out of 2nd gear against us. It’s not all on Clarke, but we looked poorly coached and devoid of ideas.

Ironically what you said came before Clarke - scared of the ball, couldn’t put 4 passes together - was exactly what we witnessed at the World Cup.

Yeh I agree with your first 2 points but we did pass the ball fairly well at times against top opposition. The problem was we were useless in the final third and had very little attacking threat. Our big players never turned up either.

Clarke has to take a fair bit of responsibility for that but I am not sure our replacement is going to be alot better when it comes to getting results. Whatever way you look at it our results in all our qualifying campaigns couldn't have been much better and that might be hard to replicate for the new manager.

Would you not agree that it’s the job of the manager or coach to get the best out of the players at their disposal? Unfortunately, in the big moments at the major tournaments, our big players just haven’t stood up. And we know they are capable, because they have done it at club level in top leagues and in qualifying.

Midfield alone had approaching 50 international goals to its armoury. McGinn is in our top five highest goal scorer of all-time.

And McTominay makes up the top 10

That in itself is a fucking disgrace and embarrassment. To have 2 current midfielders in your top 10 goalscorers of all time shows just how poor and inept we’ve been throughout history as an outfit

That isn’t a slate on McGinn and McTominay btw

Yeh I would agree that Clarke never got the best out of the players at the tournaments. That was frustrating but the problem is he got great results in our qualifying campaigns and that might not be the case with our new manager.

It's all very well wanting our new manager to do better than Clarke at major tournaments but he has to actually get us there first.

Just hope we can appoint someone who is able to replicate Clarkes qualifying results and get us performing better in a tournaments.

I think the idea of having a specific tournament coach was mooted. I still think it would have been a good idea but I doubt if ego would have allowed for it. Germans would probably be ok with it, they're quite pragmatic about getting things done.

It's a bit worrying Naismith declaring that he'll still be part of things at this stage. I mean, what if the new man has his own ideas and wants to bring his own team in? Makes me think it's all a done deal and we're going to get some utterly uninspiring appointment.

That’s what the FAs plan was with Tuchel was originally

It could mean he has already been told the U-21 job is his.

I am not aware of any credible gossip or public statements from anyone interviewing/applied for the job.  Everything seems pretty tight.  Now that the season is upon us, I don't think it's going to be McGlyn but that might be naive of me to think that.  I think we are getting someone unemployed or another international manager from elsewhere.

Our first match is September 26th, squad announced roughly September 14th. The new Manager will want 2-4 weeks to do scouting from let's say August 23rd.  I think we might get news as early as next week but I think more realistic would be the week of the 17th of August.  I am basing this on the hopes things have already been taking place.

The alternative is, Naismith is a caretaker for the first 4 matches of the Nations league.

Vladimir Petkovic is available though.  🤔

Bit of a Father Ted lookalike and therefore doesn't set the ladies pulses racing.😁

Good football manager though.

Hah I didn't claim it was exciting, just what's likely to happen.

Realise that.Just responding to that horrible scenario actually happening.

Maybe they are deliberately leaking it's Naismith to see how the wind blows

Then again the SFA are not that clever

The silence around the whole process really is deafening. As you say, not even a sliver of credible reporting in the press, and we've got a game in a little over 6 weeks. I think we almost have to accept that Naismith will be in charge for the Nation's League. The big question is what the feck are the SFA actually doing?! As if they were actively recruiting there would surely be some gossip around the process.

It's not the fault of the SFA.

They thought Clarke was going to be the manager for the next four years. They had it in writing.

Now he's gone.

Managers aren't stupid. They see it from the outside looking in. They understand that Scotland fans not only demand successful qualification, but they also expect to compete with the world's best.

No credible manager would undertake such a job.

It's akin to expecting Del Boy's Robin Reliant van to win an FI race.

It's not the SFA's fault if the expectations of some fans are insane.

The Scotland job isn't an exalted one. It's a poisoned chalice.

Trying to cobble together a team worthy of qualifying with a generally average set of players.

It's a challenge. One that no one wants.

What did the Clarke haters expect? A queue of highly rated and sought after managers forming a line?

This is a bit of a cold shower for those people.

I don't think it's unreasonable for the fans to expect a competent manager as we offer the chance to manage our country at the next euros. We will also likely have a squad that's good enough to qualify for the 2032 euros as well.

That means we should be able to attract a semi decent manager provided we pay a bit more money.

Saying that I do agree to a certain extent with what your saying. These next few years could be a wake up call if we don't get a competent manager in and we might be looking back and thinking Clarke wasn't so bad.

Also the Scotland job isn't as much of a poisoned chalice anymore. We managed to get the qualifying monkey off our back. It's just a case of getting out the groups for the first time.

It will very much be the fault of sfa if they don't get this next appointment right. We have the next euros to offer the new manager and that should be enough to attract someone decent.

I can legit see a reset to 2000-2019 where we didn't qualify for anyone.

The Clarke Haters probably won't admit it, but I'm guessing a lot of them are Yoons who loathe Scotland doing well at anything.

And yes, qualifying for Tournaments is "doing well."

Either that or they're just a bunch of dour faced energy Vampires.

By being miserable and angry they've missed out. Personally, I've enjoyed every second as Steve Clarke as manager.

Remember the transition from Brown to Vogts?

Get really for a shot of deja vu.

Scotland fans aren't demanding at all. We are some of the least demanding I've seen. Saying we expect to compete with the world's best is a complete lie.

Poison chalice? I doubt Steve clarke himself would agree with that considering he says it's been the proudest part of his career and he's just had us at three tournaments for the first time since 1998, he just failed to take it to the next step

I know you will ignore this post because this post and my previous completely proved you wrong
