Collusion? - Scotland v Brazil - Tartan Army Message Board Jump to content

I can’t be the only one who has noticed that a 1-0 (or any one goal margin) victory for Brazil serves both sides’s interests. Brazil, already through and facing potentially 6 more games, will of course want to win, but might be looking to rest a few players, and will certainly want neither the injuries nor bookings a full on competitive game might bring. Scotland apparently have an 80%+ chance of progressing with a one goal defeat - a result I’m sure we’d take if offered.

I sincerely hope I’m being unduly cynical here but a nod and a wink phony game is a possibility here. Even if not actually pre-arranged, it might just…happen.

How do we feel about that?

It happens. It’s not right but I witnessed it myself at Easter Road in 2005. It made me sick to the pit of bollocks to be honest with you

Part of me wanted to Rangers to hammer Hibs if Hibs weren’t going to attempt to score and teach the high heid yins a lesson

I wouldn't take a one nil loss if offered.

I don't believe we are 80% likely to go through on a single goal defeat, and I don't have confidence we'd be able to hold a one goal deficit if that were the game plan.

Not for me. Just setting yourself up to end up with egg on your face if you gladly accept a 1-0 defeat with so much football left to play.

I don't think 3 points is going to be enough even with a -1 GD.

They way the groups are panning out I think we need 4 points. Would have been different had we got a few more against Haiti.

The only way I could see collusion is if by some miracle it comes through that Haiti are getting a result and a draw suits both teams.

...I'll qualify that in that if we are getting absolutely battered and whatever, ...then ok.

But hope we can offer something and get in about them.
