It’s time to get Robbie Keane in There will still be the same happy clapping arsewipes on the likes of Twitter and dotdonut who’ll excuse this result as still being in preseason like they did with that Andorran mob a few years back It’s as lame and embarrassing excuse back then as it is now Being in pre-season is no excuse though. These teams know when these matches are scheduled, it's not like they only find out a fortnight beforehand. It's sad about Gray, if he's not careful he'll be joining that long list of former respected players who end up having their reputation trashed when they became managers. Quote

I think its a combination of the type of players our clubs go for and also that the more technical players revert to those around them and how they are coached. Watch Scottish club football. Chances are mainly created due to a player being caught out, an opportunity arising etc. Very very rarely will you see any passage of play where teams are obviously moved around so space is created. As I said, Motherwell did it last year and it stuck out like a sore thumb as its so uncommon in Scotland. Hibs cant even use pre season as an excuse as im pretty sure Kosovo follow the same calender as us. None of that today was lack of fitness, maybe a little could be said for lack of match sharpness but it was mainly down to the fact that Hibs were utterly predicatable in pretty much every pass and movement. er yir macaroon Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Hibs and Hearts both humped and people watch Robbie Ure in the Norwegian league and question the defending? The Norwegian league is light years above the SPFL. Our league is a total embarrassment. It is utter dross and exists in its own wee bubble of shite. Quote

What if the League Cup was brought forward? It's not the most glamorous competition, but a couple of games of nominally competitive football even if against lower league opposition would maybe help concentrate the minds and limbs of the management and players in time? OK, just remembered, of course LC doesn't involve the Euro teams, for understandable reasons, but maybe it should? At least for the teams with Euro fixtures in July? Quote

Well put and perfectly sums “top level” Scottish football as a whole up. If ever there was clarification needed you need look no more after the absolute embarrassment of this summer. Not to worry tho eh - there’s at least 4 old firm matches to get excited about. Quote
exile Posted July 23 Author Posted July 23 (edited) For perspective/comparison, I just saw Malisheva has a population of 43,000 and stadium has a capacity of 1800. Google suggests that's something like Dumbarton But it's very hard to compare across leagues. And any team in Europe must be doing quite well relatively, rather than comparing with lower league teams like Dumbarton. Edited July 23 by exile Quote
Malcolm Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I thought we were shite back in the 90s when the likes of Mypa were putting out Aberdeen. Oh to be that level of shite now. Quote

There’s been loads tbf Serious questions have to be asked of Gray. He got credit for the first back to back european qualification in 50 years but the tactics today were the same honking disjointed p!sh that was served up last year. We got as easy a route as we could have to the play off tie and we've f'd it after 90 minutes to Kosovo joiners FC. Rejected the opportunity to train on the pitch in Kosovo, smacks of arrogance Quote

biffer Posted July 23 Posted July 23 The point earlier in the thread about Motherwell actually being coached is very relevant. Quote

I'd actually consider the Swedish league ahead of the Norwegian, so even more it. Quote

It doesn't have to be like this - in St Johnstone's European campaigns over the last ten or twelve years they knocked Rosenbirg out, knocked Luzern out, drew against Galatasaray in Turkey, went out twice on penalties and once on away goals and didn't embarrass themselves or Scottish football at any point. If a small club like Saints can do that it is fucking shambolic that bigger clubs like Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen keep coming out with utter shite like they do, and then whine their excuses to a media that wants to talk about how shit we are. Unfortunately, we also managed to get pumped out by our fair share of Armenian and Lithuanian diddies. Quote
slasher Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Can someone remove the passports from the diddy clubs please? 🤣 Quote
slasher Posted July 24 Posted July 24 That Motherwell tifo last night was beyond mortifying by the way! Reminded me of the time some Huns performed a ceremonial burial for a cardboard cutout of Stevie G after he left the club. 🙈 Quote

There’s no good reason why the European entrants can’t compete in the league cup group stages with a little bit of reorganisation Could it be as simple as having the five matchdays as the five weekends prior to the start of the league season, as opposed to the three weekends and two midweeks prior? Has to be a consideration, as it would at least allow our European entrants to get to a reasonable level of match fitness ahead of their European fixtures (especially if they're playing a team halfway through their league season).
