er yir macaroon Posted June 14 Posted June 14 3-5-1-1 Gunn Hickey Souttar Hendry Tierney Robertson McGinn Ferguson McTominay Adams Gannon-Doak Gannon Doak in a free role. Curtis doing the same later in the game. McGinn inside right, McTominay inside left. I'd only play this way if Tierney is available. If not, 4-5-1. I noticed Morocco's goal versus Brazil was a through ball that split the centre halves, so hopefully that would be avoided with a back three. I think we'd get more out of McGinn snd McTominay this way and Ferguson has the discipline to cover Tierney's runs. Gannon Doak could run amok without worrying too much about being out of position. Morocco looked very good but Brazil probably should have beaten them and I think they can be got at. Quote
Clyde1998 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I think we'll get a lot more space in the final third against both Morocco and Brazil than we did against Haiti. This will give players like Doak and Curtis space to run in to. We often struggle to break down teams, but cope better when counter-attacking. Do think there's no pressure on our next two games now though. Morocco and Brazil will be favourites for them. I'd probably go for (assuming players are available): Gordon Hickey - McKenna/Hendry - Hanley - Tierney - Robertson McTominay - Ferguson - McGinn Doak - Dykes Quote
vanderark14 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 5 in the middle with shankland sacrificed Gordon for gunn, I know it's unusual for a keeper to change in a tournament but I genuinely believe Gunn is a marshall type error waiting to happen. If we are under pressure, our defenders need to know the man behind them is confident and his hands aren't made from quavers Quote
Diamond Scot Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Morocco outplayed Brazil all over the pitch. Brazil were only kept in the game with moments of brilliance from their wide men. Personally id change Gunn for Gunn purely on the fact that he is a better shot stopper and I suspect we will have alot of shots to stop. If fit id play McKenna centre with Hendry and Tierney either side. If not probably Hanley centre. Christie and Ferguson deep with BGD, McGinn, McTom and then Dykes up top. Quote

An actual gun would certainly help 🙂 Quote

GlasWolf Posted June 14 Posted June 14 The problem we have is that we need five at the back to cover our mediocre centre backs/fit KT in, and five in midfield to get McGinn and BGD both on the right side. And we all know what that means... Quote
csinclair Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Hopefully McKenna is fit as we need his mobility. I’d drop Shankland for Christie and push McTominay further forward. Morocco have some incredible players but a few who looked pretty average too and we’re definitely capable of getting something from this game Quote

Not a huge Hanley fan but he did okay last night, but this is a different match. Quote

I think he's too good not to use. I do like the prospect of a back three freeing up Gannon Doak to play off the striker. I'd love to see him run at centre halves in the middle of the pitch. It would terrify them. Quote

Yes I agree that Tierney is far too good to leave out after the performance of some of the players yesterday, he could actually play just ahead of Robertson, but Clarke won't do that. Doak is an exciting prospect as long as we get him on the ball. Quote

daviebee Posted June 15 Posted June 15 It'll be 5 at the back with a line of 4 in front of them and one guy totally isolated another 40 yards up the pitch. Quote

It brings Tierney in who is an attacking threat. Adams or Dykes will have plenty of support from Mctom, Doak and MCginn Quote

Keen to see Ferguson and Christie holding together and how that would go and G Doak a free-ish role to cause havoc Quote

I would put Ross Stewart as the front man, but I would expect it to be Adams.....but would prefer Dykes over him if it to be someone with experience. We need someone with more physicality than Adams. I will be raging if we find ourselves in a losing position at the 70th minute and we show no signs of urgency to try and change our destiny. Edited June 15 by romanticscot Quote

Adams is strong as an ox and also has good stamina. He's exceptionally strong but not dominant in the air. His touch was key to us scoring versus Haiti. Quote

Bigfathagis Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Kelly Patterson Soutar Hyam Tierney Hirst Fletcher McLean Curtis Dykes Stewart Give all our best players a two week rest to avoid injury and bookings. Morocco look better than Brazil so if Brazil beat Haiti they may rest some players. We go at them with our strongest, rested team we could win. Also a weird 11 v Morocco will surprise them they won't know who to mark and they could be all over the place. its a 26 man squad so use it. That team is still decent. Quote
csinclair Posted June 15 Posted June 15 There’s point in resting players. We need to put out a side that gives us the best possible chance of getting a result against Morocco. We can worry about the Brazil game afterwards Quote

Morocco are used to the heat they looked a very strong side v Brazil, I think we focus on our strongest 11 getting fit and and healthy, then they can play an already qualified Brazil who hopefully will rest players, worst we will get is a draw. Why try and go full tilt again v Morocco when we know they are really strong, just surprise them with an 11 they will not recognise and we may get the draw we need, then blast Brazil away with our strongest, focused fit 11 ....our best 11.
