vanderark14 Posted June 2 Posted June 2 (edited) Final warm up match incoming I can't wait, this and the Curacao match is the most excited I have been for friendlies in years🤣🤣 Does Clarke go with his team for Haiti? or go with the same tactic as Curacao and give people more game time and make a lot of subs early in the 2nd half. I say go with the latter to reduce the risk of injuries to players. Edited June 2 by vanderark14 Quote

Clarke has already said he's going to field a really strong team for around 65-70 mins of this game, so it's likely going to be as close to the team we'll field vs Haiti as possible. Really need to get the guts of his starting 11 playing as much as possible to get into a rhythm. We've got a week between Bolivia and Haiti then 6 days before playing Morocco, should be able to play a strong team for 60+ mins vs Bolivia and still be in good shape for Haiti. We should also be able to go again vs Morocco with few changes. Quote

There were glimpses of what they could do together during the Curacao match. Adams to come on with Stewart for the last 30 mins, assuming Stewart is fit I think he will make changes to the team against Morocco, especially the shape and formation of the team Quote

I’m not sure how it will go versus Haiti. Does Gannon Doak start? We have Ferguson, Christie, McGinn and McTominay to accommodate. Plus two strikers. If BGD plays, who drops out? Christie maybe. We’d need Ferguson’s strength in the middle with that formation. McTominay would need to drop a bit deeper where he’s less effective. It does complicate matters with two strikers, but maybe that’s ok for one game. Quote
er yir macaroon Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Thinking about it more, I think we’ll start 4-5-1 with one striker. If we score and are ahead by half time it will probably stay that way. Clarke will be worried about being too open straight away. If we’re 0-0 at half time he’ll go 4-4-2. Quote

I'd say yes BGD starts but the manager and senior players need to tell him he doesn't need to beat a man three times before crossing the ball. Christie or Ferguson would have to drop out, however I could see both playing against Morocco and Brazil because I do not believe we will play two up top against either of these teams Quote
bdgsct Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I can't see a situation where Christie and Ferguson don't play. If 442, BGD will drop out. Even 451, it wouldn't surprise me if McLean played with Christie playing wide instead of BGD. That would be rather cautious but not hugely surprising as it leaves the option to go more attacking if needed. Clarke will be hoping for a controlled performance which results in us getting a goal or 2 up. Quote
exile Posted Tuesday at 09:17 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:17 PM I'd have thought BGD would be given minutes as he may be still a bit rusty? Quote
DoonTheSlope Posted Tuesday at 09:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:42 PM Is it really necessary to have 2 Scotland v Bolivia threads spamming the board? Quote
Grim Jim Posted Tuesday at 09:51 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:51 PM I still want to see a few players getting more mileage in this game. Hopefully hot and sweaty like the tournament will likely be, so getting out rested players up to speed will also be important. How many subs we allowed? 🤔 Quote

How many subs we allowed? 🤔 Aye Saturday will be, but it’s looking like the Boston games will be slightly better conditions. Weather forecast is saying max of 23C during the day on the 13th and down to around 16C by kick off. Pretty much the same for the 19th. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Miami will be a totally other matter. Quote

I seem to have everything sorted now, with the ticket on my phone, but as I think someone else mentioned, the process was murder, unnecessarily complicated. I'm not a luddite, but I really miss when you would have a paper ticket sent to you, or collected it at the stadium! Edited Wednesday at 08:19 AM by Andy C Quote
Squirrelhumper Posted Wednesday at 09:27 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:27 AM I think we'll see as strong a team as possible, unless there are any players with niggles. Quote

Still convinced there is a great player in there but he needs to be smarter with his use of the ball. Quote

The future looks good with these two and Fletcher in the squad Quote

I think one difference is that BGD seems to receive the ball in a deep position (around the half way line) whereas Curtis tends to get it at the edge of the box. I suspect this is a tactical thing, but there’s no doubt BGD’s final ball is lacking at the moment. It might be because of his lack of sharpness especially if he’s had to run a distance and beat players before delivering it. Quote
SY Cove Posted Friday at 10:44 AM Posted Friday at 10:44 AM Same here, been super excited for the 2 warm up games, watching the previous World Cups and watching all the warm up games without us been involved was hellish, I hope we don't play our starting team for Haiti, give others a chance, like others have said, it's going to be a nervy 90 minutes hoping for no injuries, hopefully the Bolivians aren't hatchet men Match fit Curtis and Doak in the same side are an exciting thought, Doak just looked short of sharpness at the weekend and final ball/decision making poor at times Quote
mccaughey85 Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM (edited) Interesting line up. Hes obviously resting mcginn which is maybe a smart move considering how much he has played this season. Jack Hendry is an interesting choice as well as I can't see him starting v Haiti. Big game for shankland. Hes already done enough to warrant starting against Haiti but a goal tonight would pretty much guarantee it. Edited Saturday at 07:05 PM by mccaughey85 Quote
mccaughey85 Posted Saturday at 08:06 PM Posted Saturday at 08:06 PM 32 degrees according to commentators. This will be a real test of our players fitness and ability to play in hot conditions. Quote
