Malagaa Posted Monday at 02:43 PM Posted Monday at 02:43 PM How many more from europe? A road trip round Spain for the world cup seems like my idea of heaven so the more the merrier in this one instance! Quote
Ally Bongo Posted Monday at 02:55 PM Posted Monday at 02:55 PM It's already a bigger farce than 2026 thanks to Infantino The reason it is in 3 different continents is to keep the South Americans, Africans and Europeans quiet Why ? Because they have given the 2034 WC to Saudi Arabia and raked in billions in bribes - just after we had another WC in Qatar Hopefully 2026 will be the last one Quote
ceudmilefailte Posted Monday at 03:19 PM Posted Monday at 03:19 PM They should reduce it to 16 and hold it in  Uruguay. Quote
Ally Bongo Posted Monday at 04:21 PM Posted Monday at 04:21 PM The future of the World Cup will all depend on the fall out from this one - whether it's viewed as a success or a failure Discounting 1994 this will be the first where it has been taken away from the ordinary fan Hopefully it results in Infantino getting the boot along with his corrupt cabal Quote

First round ties are like preliminary rounds of a domestic cup competition, albeit all played in the host country/ies. So the minnowiest minnow of a country gets at least one day in the limelight, and if they go on a run, as with a domestic competitin, they can eventually compete with the big boys, who enter the competition in June as usual...  Quote

If Gibraltar don’t fancy going to the cayman islands they don’t need to bother entering.  Quote

ThistleWhistle Posted Tuesday at 07:09 AM Posted Tuesday at 07:09 AM It’s at the point I’d rather watch a tournament between 128 teams who failed to qualify for the World Cup.   Nepal v Western Samoa straight knock out for a place in the last 64.  Quote

Burj_Alba Posted Tuesday at 11:14 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:14 AM I've always thought that qualifying should be worldwide so come the finals they have got the best, or most deserved teams (48 or 64) playing rather than teams like Denmark or Italy not qualifying and, with respect, Jordan or Carcacao do qualify by playing weaker opposition in qualifying. Would make for some cracking qualifying trips, say Samoa, Kenya, Chile and Jamaica in our group. Moot point though as FIFA would never go for it as they need African and Asian association votes and part of that is having a decent chance to be at the big party. Quote

Spain, England, France, Germany etc qualifying after 5 or 6 games then loads of playoffs further down the ladder leaving the big boys time for lucrative friendlies against each other. Can definitely see a tournament in the future where seeded teams don’t enter till the 2nd round as well Quote
