simonmk Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I recently lost my Mum and Dad, very suddenly, and I'm now thinking, life's for living. Without wishing to be reckless, I want to treat my girls to a World Cup match, after messing about and missing out on Germany, I've decided this is our time. Then I checked the FIFA site... Wow. Now I appreciate it is going to cost a packet no matter what, I cant justify nearly $4000 on tickets! Am I missing something here, or is that what it's going to take? Ive checked reseller sites but heard too many stories over the years that it doesn't instil confidence. Quote
ceudmilefailte Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Wait until the next couple of last minute sales phases and I would expect seats together for a reasonable price. Quote
simonmk Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 When are they happening? Haven’t booked flights or anything yet. Quote

FIFA have already ready had two last minute sales phases. Me and my kids paid £500 each for tickets on latest one for the Morocco game Should be cheaper and probably more fun at Haiti game. Quote

Sorry to hear of your loss The World Cup is only 46/47 days away You not only have the ticket money to find but also the price of return flights, accommodation and transport to and from the stadium If you haven't heard everyone is trying their best to fleece travelling fans and the prices for everything have went through the roof If you have a great deal of money to fritter away then it might be a suggestion to look into organised packages and see if there are still any spaces left Personally it's too much to stomach for my taste and i am going to Benidorm on the 13th June for 18 days I was thinking of attempting to get a Brazil ticket then negotiating my way from Madrid to Miami and back on an overnight basis The flights are reasonable - the jet lag wont be - however i have went to Sweden on a Double Decker bus so i could suffer the travel But the tickets are still over $1000 and no way am i paying that unless i win the lottery Imagine leaving the stadium after a humping knowing that you had paid that kind of money to watch it ... Ive checked reseller sites but heard too many stories over the years that it doesn't instil confidence. Condolences. Having promised my brothers that we'd do the World Cup after I went to the Norway game in Bordeaux when I was living/working in Toulouse (and anyone there will remember the unbelievable craic before and after, massive flags over the main street with a guy jumping on top of a bus to let them pass underneath!! and the one pager in the Record from Bordeaux council thanking the TA for their participation) we've splashed out. Conservatively you'll need £700-£800 for flights (recommend either direct (of course!) or via Shannon/Dublin where you can clear US immigration prior to departure which will save you loads of time upon arrival. You'll need an ESTA for each traveller. Accommodation will vary greatly depending on where and your sleeping preferences - a hotel room for family of 3-4 in Providence area could be £250ish but in Boston way more. Then you have food/drinks/travel which again depending on your tastes could be £50-£200 per day. And them the tickets - many on here expect (hope!) the prices will come down nearer kick off, personally I'm not convinced. I think the majority of tickets have now been sold by FIFA and based on most recent 'last minute sale' any which become available will still be £300 min. The touts know there is a demand and a limited supply so unless you have big balls and are prepared to wait 24-48 hours beforehand (and having spent all of the above why take the risk) then the resale sites or even better the guy who has set up an exchange/sale site for Scottish fans (link is another thread or see the online article) makes sense. I've previously used Ticketmaster and Stubhub without any problem. Good luck and hope you and the family make it - the memories my family have from Germany and the Switzerland game in Cologne are worth more than money. Quote
GHfaeGTA Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Bought tickets from Vivid Seats a while back. Got the tickets in my FIFA app. Prices have gone up since but starting to fall again. They will drop further Edited April 27 by GHfaeGTA Quote

Edina Scot Posted April 28 Posted April 28 The right answer is The Tartan Army ticket exchange. https://www.ticket-exchange.co.uk/ More and more tickets appearing and a good way to get it up FIFA and resale sites. Tickets also facilitated by admins, so very little risk. Quote
Maradonnagoldenhand Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Picked up my ticket for £500 on vivid seats an ticket was transferred to fifa account within 3 days Quote
simonmk Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I know it's been said a million times already but cant believe the cost of this World Cup. Mind blowing. flights and accommodation are expensive, without the crazy ticket costs. Games gone in more ways than one. Quote
Wayverider Posted Tuesday at 04:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:22 PM (edited) As Simonmk said, waiting for last minute tickets may be your best bet. I got 4 tickets per match for $225 each (Canadian dollars), but put my request in with FIFA well before we’d qualified, and let’s face it qualification was anything but certain at that point. However there are 5 of us so we needed another single ticket. My mate couldn’t go online due to work for last week’s latest round of tickets so I did it for him. I was able to secure the two Boston games for another single ticket, but not Miami. The ticket was expensive ($1670 for two games), BUT FIFA lets you select your location and I could see there were several sections in which every ticket is still unsold (which really makes me sour towards the FiFA profit mongers). But at least it might indicate these unsold tickets have to sell and there’s a good chance locals in Boston will be unwilling to pay these crazy prices. Possibly there will be some late bargains. giblet Posted Tuesday at 05:59 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:59 PM Another with a good experience of Vivid Seats. You are right simon, life is for living, we have one shot at this life, you will eventually forget how much it cost but will always remember the event. Quote

The worst that can happen is that your tickets fall through and you get a full refund. In that scenario, you can just buy alternative tickets on the same site. I've been using them for a few years and that has only happened to me once. Quote

Do you keep the faith or buy another pair and hope you don't end up with 4? Is there a cut-off for delivery refund? Quote

If they don't come through they're usually pretty responsive to emails. They make a fair effort to find an alternative for you I think. When it happened to me I got a full refund and a $250 voucher. I used the voucher for a premium ticket to a different concert. Quote
Iain69 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Looking at getting tickets from Vivid Seats - has anyone used them? How are they? The reviews for the app and their customer service are terrible. Quote

The reviews for the app and their customer service are terrible. I wouldn’t use them. I bought two tickets from them for the Haiti game when I thought the tournament was sold out. They added an insane amount of fees on. I think I paid well over £950 per ticket (£1900 for two). Initially I was told by Vivid that I would get the tickets Seven days before kick off. It’s gradually been knocked down to the Afternoon of the match. I didnt want the stress of not knowing if I would have the tickets or not so I got two tickets off FIFA resale market place when it opened for £600 each. The fact Vivid have pushed back ticket delivery suggests to me that they are aware prices will nose dive on the day and they can get two tickets off market place for £50-100 and then send them to me meaning a hefty profit for them. I’m then stuck with two worthless tickets I can’t even sell on. If I was you I would wait until the day of the match. Quote

Ours were about £440 Including fees and were delivered within about 3 weeks after buying in March. Current price now just over £450 but pretty sure will fall in the next few weeks Quote
