I see he's been banned by the SFA from commentating at  Hampden. Now  I appreciate that Stewart isn't everyone's cup of tea but seems completely unjustified.

He's criticised refs but the SFA would be better trying to improve the quality of refereeing rather than ban people who are pointing it out.

Im a big fan of Stewart, he doesn't mind upsetting some people by being brutal, which I appreciate.

The SFA are acting like corrupt cowards, which could be quite accurate of them.

He gets a bit of a slagging off in some quarters but I quite like him for the reasons you mention.

Michael Stewart, whatever youu think of him as a person, is fully entitled to give his opinion as an independent broadcaster.

Is the ban just in a professional capacity?

I remember when sports journalist par excellence, Graham Spiers was banned from Ibrox he was regularly tweeting from the stands in amongst the paying punter

It’s worth noting that they’re not saying he isn’t entitled to his opinion just that they don’t welcome him into Hampden. Rightly or wrongly…

It’d be like someone saying you keep a dirty hoose. The person is right but you don’t want them coming round every other week telling you that you’re a clarty manky bastard

It wasn’t that long ago there was a call for an independent enquiry into the refereeing standards and wider running of Scottish football

The idea was maligned and belittled by most fans (no doubt many on here) though because it was proposed by Rangers

If anything it kind of draws attention to Stewart and whatever his grievances are.
