Some game and can remember it fondly 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Interesting to note, this was a 22 man squad - Scotland took 5 Strikers !!

Ally McCoist, Maurice Johnston, Gordon Durie, Rambo McInally + Robert Fleck

If I could pick one game to ever go to, this would be it. Was 14 at the time and it just forever stuck in my head. Massive result on the back of the Costa Rica game.

In my opinion, this is our best ever result in the finals of a tournament, WC or Euros.

Same here which is quite depressing considering the squads we've had.

Holland 78 - World Cup finalists that year no less?

Sweden 90 our last win at a World Cup, which will be 36 years ago now, following wins v Zaire, Holland and NZ - 4 wins in total out of a possible 18.

Our last in any tournament being euro 96 of course - which will be 30 years this year.

If we don’t win a game this time around it will be an absolute sickner.

Too young to actually remember the Holland ‘78 game. Was it not the case that Holland only needed to avoid losing to us by 3 goals? Not sure how much they were putting into the game. Did they not pull one back immediately after we went 3-1 up, making me think they could turn it on if they needed to?

Sweden in ‘92 had as much to play for as we did.

I’m pretty sure I had to wait until half time and full time to see the highlights as was living in England.

Neither the CIS game or Switzerland were shown live in England so I’ve never seen Scotland win at a major football tournament other than on teletext!

I was there too. One of the best atmospheres i've ever been in and a must win game after the disaster of Costa Rica a few days before. It was also my daughter's 2nd birthday.

Best photo I have ever taken and will attach if possible. It's Mojo's pen just as he was about to strike the ball. Strangely as a Wednesday fan, we got the pen via a trip by the classiest player I have seen play for us, Roland Nilsson. I even thanked him for the trip when I bumped into him in a local park about a year later.

Glad you liked the photo. It was more pure luck than skill that it came out as it did.

We were stood on bench seats and I just raised my arm as high as it would it would go and clicked the camera as Mojo ran towards the ball and hoped for the best.

Not sure I even saw the ball hit the net, ended up on the floor with everyone around me in pure pandemonium. Happy days.

Did you have to wait weeks on finishing the spool, then have the excitement of going to SupaSnaps to eventually pick up your prints? 😃

Yeah, something like that from memory. I was amazed how good it turned out. Never thought at the time it would the last World Cup finals winning goal for Scotland for well over thirty years.

Here's hoping there are more winning goals to see this June.
