Paolo H Posted March 27 Posted March 27 From an article published in The Athletic today: ... soccer fans who attended the exhibition match between France and Brazil at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on Thursday saw the price increased by 50 per cent, up to $30 per-person, without any options of concessions. The purchase regulations stated that children under 11 would need to possess a valid ticket. Yet even the prices charged on Thursday are set to more than double during the World Cup this summer, while they will be almost four times the usual prices asked of NFL and MLS fans. According to sources familiar with the planning, who asked to remain anonymous to protect relationships, individuals will be charged around or even more than $75 per-person for a return ticket to make the 27-mile journey from Boston South station to the stadium. The MBTA is planning to announce its fare programs by April 8. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7150121/2026/03/26/boston-gillette-stadium-train-tickets-world-cup/ Quote
romanticscot Posted March 27 Posted March 27 This whole thing is explotation of fans. And before anyone blame's Trump for this, MBTA is a local authority and the reason given apparently is because they just spent a lot fo money upgrading their facilities. There is another route into Foxborough avoiding Boston so this is not the only option. Quote
dan cake Posted March 27 Posted March 27 You’d have to be awfy naive to think once we’d paid for flights, digs and match tickets the fleecing would stop. We’re gonna have the cunt ripped out of us at every opportunity for our entire trip, we’re visiting the home of capitalism Quote
DesiScotsman Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Pure greed! Last year they quoted it would cost around $20 to use the train. Quote
Toepoke Posted March 28 Posted March 28 https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/mbta-event-train-gillette-stadium-brazil-france-world-cup/ This is gonna be some laugh 😱 Quote
Kev10038 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Assuming many attending were neutral might be another factor in locals not buying (or reselling) WC tickets given additional cost and hassle getting to the games. Quote

Very well managed to stop a stampede of folks all trying to squeeze through the one door at the same time, as if there is a winning lottery ticket that’s available to claim onboard , like you see on all major events trains. Gemmill78er Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Those scenes look no worse than Central Station before a big game or dare I say Munich in 2024. Price, though, is ridiculous. At least with the Euros, your match ticket gives you access to public transport to get to the game. I dare say UEFA get a lot of things right when it comes to staging their showpiece international tournament. FIFA, on the other hand, show barely any regard for the fans. Quote
Nigeyy Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I've been advocating people catch the commuter rail, and I'm sorry. This is just outrageous price gouging. I hope FIFA and any other organization that thinks of using Boston as a host city won't. They don't deserve it. It's bad enough with the lack of thought, functionality and investment into public transportation. They really should be struck off the list as far as I'm concerned. By the way, I'll bet a lot any money made by the MBTA won't be going to improving it. Quote

Nige, I read somewhere that there will be NO commuter trains running on match days only the $75 rip off tickets - be great if you could check. I kind of expect it to be true as there would be many 'fare dodgers'! taking alternative trains, especially after the game (FYI got ticket for Morocco so 19th June is the applicable date). Quote

SeaCowe Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I’m desperate to get a ticket but it looks a massive ball ache getting from central Boston down there, from anywhere really though tbh. If I get lucky enough I’ll prob leave late morning and get there early doors. Just hoping resale prices drop a bit. Quote
runningtings Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Yeh I was thinking I'll get this train, but I am South of Boston. I will need to get the train into Boston then get the express one back, not sure that's even possible. Quote
Nigeyy Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I haven't heard anything about other non special events commuter trains being cancelled on game days. Of course that's not to say it wouldn't happen, but I'll go out on a limb here and say I just can't imagine they'd do that as people use them to, well, commute to work on the commuter rail. This $75 ticket thing is just a fiasco and a complete and utter rip off. Sadly general sentiment here is most people here agree with it based on the fact it means *they* won't have to pay for the improvements. It just seems to be completely lost as to who will actually benefit, and how focused pricing is fine so long as it's not me kind of thing. Quote
TunnocksTeaCakes Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I think the price is 80$ absolute rip off Posted on April 6, 2026 Commuter Rail offers one of the most affordable and convenient ways to travel to and from Boston Stadium with expanded service. The MBTA today announced service information during this summer’s seven World Cup matches in June and July, including expanded Commuter Rail service and special Boston Stadium Train tickets to help fans travel across the region. Roundtrip Boston Stadium Train tickets between South Station and Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) will be $80, sold exclusively on mTicket, and are good for travel on the entire Commuter Rail network on match days Quote
GLOSTA Posted April 6 Posted April 6 shambles...allocated time slots start over 6 hours before KO... return trains are first come first served and will take 3.5 hours until last one can leave. A 35 minute journey where an express train takes an hour Quote
Craig Fae Hamilton Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I am getting scunnered with the level of ripping fans off. Any other country build the infrastructure to allow them to host Events. Boston want the fans to pay every nickle and dime of what they have had to spend in order to host the Event. I thought Boston would be better than Miami. But these trains take the biscuit! It's made me determined that unless I get reasonably priced tickets. I am staying in Boston City Centre to watch the Games. Quote

A 35 minute journey where an express train takes an hour I assume it will be possible to choose your desired time slot when they go on sale. Hope that’s the case anyway… Edited April 6 by Dhowie5 Quote

AlfieMoon Posted April 6 Posted April 6 The time difference between first and last train are pretty significant and I’m assuming we will get no choice in the matter. Mental. Quote
macwomble Posted April 6 Posted April 6 You’ll get a choice! For the Brazil v Framce game the drop down allowed you to choose which of 2 boarding groups you wanted for that game! Quote
GLOSTA Posted April 6 Posted April 6 There is a choice of time slots going to ground... As far as I know ( i am sure itis on the link below) it is first come first served on way back, so a mellee. https://www.mbta.com/guides/world-cup-guide Quote
GLOSTA Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I suppose this is like the schedule needed for getting to the Clockwork to guarantee a seat on matchday at Hampden 😃 Quote
