DoonTheSlope Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Hopefully Czechia do the business. Thinking of a long weekend in Prague or Brno for the weekend of our Brazil game. PathD winners play South Korea the morning before The Czechs are more a winter sport nation but hopefully there’s still a bit atmosphere on the go even at that time of morning Whether they get passed Denmark is another matter Quote
DoonTheSlope Posted March 26 Posted March 26 The queues outside the Dubliner in Prague are astonishing. It’s the international branch of Temple Bar Take a walk 10 minutes in any direction and they’ll get a pint for £2 Quote
morrie21 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'll have a go at predicting these fixtures. Will do the intercontinental ones too. What a relief Scotland don't have this stress over the coming days. Euro Path A Wales v Bosnia - not really too clued up on Bosnia. Wales have a respectable home record so I think they will advance. Italy v Northern Ireland - the Italians are absolutely crapping it in case this goes the way of their last two WC playoff attempts. Northern Ireland are improving but this is too much too soon. Italy to advance in Bergamo. Final. Wales v Italy - there's a fine line between madness and genius. Appointing Gattuso as manager falls into this category, however I think he will be able to see Italy through to the final tournament via a 1-0 win in Cardiff. Euro Path B Ukraine v Sweden - the neutral venue for this is Valencia. Despite no home advantage I'll take Ukraine to move on. Some of Sweden's results in the group campaign were abysmal. Poland v Albania - Poland without any great deal of confidence. Final. Ukraine v Poland - Poland to narrowly get the better of their neighbours on neutral turf. Euro Path C Slovakia v Kosovo - should be a decent one here but home advantage to swing it for Slovakia, possibly after extra time. Turkey v Romania - expecting a goal feast here so it will probably be 0-0. Turkey have some real class attackers at the moment so I'll side with them. Final. Slovakia v Turkey - Turkey will produce an away masterclass to secure their place in North America this summer. Euro Path D Czech Republic v Rep of Ireland - this is hard to call. ROI may well be able to dig in, fight for a 0-0 and win the shootout. Denmark v North Macedonia - Denmark will be able to prevail at home. Final. Rep of Ireland v Denmark - got to fancy that Denmark's pedigree would see them over the line here. Intercontinental bonus action IC Path 2 (Iraq waiting for the semifinal winner) Bolivia v Suriname - Bolivia must have improved from their traditional South American whipping boys status to finish 7th in that qualifying table. Suriname must be punching above their weight getting this far. Bolivia to take it. Final. Bolivia v Iraq - this could be a coin toss but will say Bolivia. After the usual suspects of Japan, South Korea and sometimes Iran the quality of the Asian Confederation teams usually drops off dramatically - I don't think Iraq will be good enough. IC Path 1 (DR Congo waiting for the semifinal winner) New Caledonia v Jamaica - hopefully New Caledonia can put on a good performance but I suspect they will be well beaten by Jamaica. Final. Jamaica v DR Congo - DR Congo will be too strong here. They already knocked Cameroon and Nigeria out during the African playoffs so shouldn't have too many issues against Jamaica. Quote

That's a great link thank you. Saving that for future reference. PS I'm going to watch France v Brazil to see what the current Brazilian team is like Edited March 26 by fringo Quote
slasher Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Couldn’t care less who wins tonight, although I’d be perfectly fine with NI & Wales losing tbh. Mostly though, I’m just glad not to be involved. Watching Czech v Ire. Quote

exile Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Scottish League (& ex Scottish League) players in action: Nygren assist for Sweden Kenny and Idah on the bench for Ireland Miovksi on the bench for N Macedonia Any others? Quote
kumnio Posted March 26 Posted March 26 What's happened to Italian football is quite amazing. From Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Albertini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Totti, Del Pierro, Inzaghi, Baggio etc etc and now they are a complete shadow of themselves. Biggest drop off in football ever? Quote
slasher Posted March 26 Posted March 26 That’s been some 46 minutes that. A proper old fashioned cup tie played at break neck speed, both teams kicking fuck out of each other, ball forward and into the box at every opportunity. The ref has done well to let it flow. Ireland worth their half time lead. Quote

I was tempted to say Scotland, but we were never so high to drop so far. Quote
