Hertsscot Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Australia just got gold in the men's Moguls. They do pretty well for a country that doesn't have much snow or ice.

It certainly doesn't spring to mind but that may just be my ignorance. However, it was said that the nearest run for the Australian competing in the Skeleton Bob was in South Korea!

I'm no sure it would be the wisest move to try to ski down a bobsleigh run? 😂 Although some folk go down on a tea tray, right enough.

Luge doubles is a strange event. Going downhill on a luge at high speed with a team mate either below you or lying on top of you. Just a bit weird.

Hertsscot Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 Brazil just won skiing gold. Funny old world. I wonder what odds you might have got for that.

The men were lucky to get into the semis. Very fine margins at the the top level. Let's hope they make the most of the luck that they got and go on to win the gold.

Your first 2 sentences sound like quotes from Finbar Saunders and his double entendres.

Sporting integrity and all that but the Swiss rink should probably have lost to Italy and given themselves an easier semi final.

The top teams teams are all capable of beating each other on their day. The Swiss would probably think they had a very good chance of beating Team Scotland. Team Scotland has been slightly off form all week and the Swiss knew that. Continuing a winning run would have been more important to them. Team Retornaz are currently ranked 6th in the world. Two of the teams above them aren't even at the Olympics, so they are ranked as 4th best team in the competition. It all comes down to who plays best on the day and which team gets a few breaks going their way. Hopefully Scotland haven't used up all their luck already. Canada have been on really good form so far but Scotland have beaten this team plenty time in the recent past, so there will be no "fear factor". I think it will come down to whether Canada give Scotland the chance to go for the "big shots" and whether they come of in this game. So far this week the big shots haven't been quite coming off buy Scotland have scrambled their way into the final.
