Maybe it's me focusing too much on Boston prep and not getting arse in gear for Miami in time... but Brightline site showing last train back to the city from Aventura at 7.53pm. I.e. 8 minutes after full time!

I'd be happier knowing this was me just being a fanny, and all the later trains are booked. But I just can't shake this feeling that this is more shitty admin and lack of ability to organise public transport to and from the games. (Setting aside for the moment that the train costs $67 and $13 any other day!)

Anyone else successfully booked the train?

Looks like Brightline have massively hiked their prices for match days.

For example, Fort Lauderdale to Aventura is normally $22 one way but on match days it is now $72 (one way) for a 14 minute journey

Like you I haven't really focussed on this one yet. Just checked what the official Miami organising committee website is saying and found the following. 

On match days, transportation options will be coordinated to help ensure a smooth and secure experience for fans traveling to and from the stadium. While transportation details will be announced closer to the tournament, fans will be able to explore travel options including park-and-ride shuttles, rail connections, and rideshare services. Check back for more transportation information as new updates become available and get ready to travel alongside fans from around the world on your way to the match.

Given it would cost about $140 for a round trip to book now (an even more ridiculous price than the Boston train) I think I'm going to hold off to see if they put on any match specific trains because as you say getting back (I think there is one later train than the one you list) looks "challenging" with the normal timetable.

Done a bit more digging. There will be a world cup schedule announced soon apparently so will keep an eye on that. I'm staying in the city centre, in Brickell, so train to Aventura and then shuttle bus seems a good option, despite the cost. Will post on here if I find anything.

Ideally looking for a magical mystery tour that takes in South Beach, Little Havana, and then drops me at the stadium...!

Just checked the train prices today on Brightline. 

It's quoting me $155 return on the 24th from downtown Miami to Aventura for the shuttle buses. (Normally €34)...makes Boston look reasonable!!

I booked return Brightline trains from Miami to Aventura last week as I was procrastinating - every service had availability. Cost $34 each return. Same journey now costs $155 😮 😮 Fleecing fans at every opportunity!!

I see Rally buses now doing the the Scotland Brazil match, nothing hugely handy for Brickell or the fanzone, perhaps we need our own Brickell Rally bus

Leaves from about a 20 minute walk from the fanzone.

Thanks for the tip, just booked the Rally bus from Hollywood for two of us. Was hoping to get the free shuttle bus from nearby Aventura and a cheap ticket to access it from Fort Lauderdale, but having seen an earlier post about train ticket hikes from there the bus seemed better value. 

Got an old pal who has lived in Fort Lauderdale and before booking, I asked him if Uber would be a better option, but he reckons that just like everything else their prices will go through the roof too. Hence the bus booking.

Yellow cabs can be pre-booked andare $2.40 a mile according to their website. We are staying in Little Havana which is 15 miles to the stadium so looking at $50-$60 if you can't get a cheap Uber. Between 3 of us, that seems the best bet. Plenty time to go for a beer after the game and get a cab back.

For Brickell, lots of local transport available. The route below is 1.5 Hours. Another Direct Bus Takes 50 Minutes and drops you off 1KM from Stadium, also 1KM Walk from Brickell to Bus Stop. Fair enough RALLY for Boston but 100% local Transport for this. Loads of Options if you arer already in Miami:

You might want to Cancel that one M8, it's $2.25 by local Transport and you have lots of Options. Rally looks good for Boston though! $2.25 Covers you from Fanzone to Stadium. 100% it covers those 2 buses.

It’s beyond belief, i am in Fort Lauderdale with my daughter & few weeks back checked trains & as you say it was 15$ to 22$ for short trip to  Aventura of 14 mins & I thought that seemed a tad expensive & now its $77 -just like Boston a rip off - hoping we can meet up with a couple & get UBERs & I bet they are seriously inflated match day too- was so looking forward to the trip despite high hotel prices & flights…. But public transport prices are disgusting, on top of everything it leaves a sour taste

I had been blocking out thinking about Miami until I was sorted with the Boston trains.

I also thought that there was expected to be some sort of announcement from the Miami host organisers / transport authority. Unless I've missed something, it doesn't look like that has happened yet. What has definitely happened though as others have highlighted is that the standard journey fare specifically on all match days has hiked from $17 one-way to $72 (minimum) one-way. This is getting crazy, if Boston wasn't already bad enough.

Thanks for the info Craig. I know I'm just being lazy and could investigate myself but I presume there is still plenty of local buses etc running after the game is finished at 8pm?

Absolutely wild.

I'm in two minds.

1. Get public transport, cheap, make friends with the locals, huge potential for side quests and other adventures, but takes over an hour.

2. Pre-booked uber appears to be 50-60 USD. Split between a few folk very reasonable...  I don't *think* pre booked uber is affected by surge pricing? Others may know better...?

I have looked at the local transport options, and could also get the 100 Bus from Miami Beach to Aventura, and then get the free shuttle to the stadium.

It was more of a worry getting back, than getting there, if busses are only every 30 mins, and they are full after the match. 

 

I'm going to wait and see if there is any further local press releases about transport plans...

Really annoying, I'm staying a couple of minutes walk from the Fort Lauderdale Brightline station, I was waiting until they marked specific trains as event trains before booking it but I won't be now.

I've signed up for the Rally bus from the Broward Blvd Park & Ride but also requested a bus from downtown Fort Lauderdale.
