DesiScotsman Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Hickey picked up an injury today. Don’t know if it’s a serious one or not. Hopefully isn’t as it’s a massive downgrade in that position when he does not play. Quote

That’s what I was hoping but reading the Brentford fans forum, looks like it’s an injury but unsure if it’s a serious one or not. Just hope it ain’t too bad as he’s one player that we simply can’t afford to lose for this summer. Quote

The goalkeeping situation is getting me nervous. Its mentioned in the Scotsman today. 'Scan wasn't great': Scotland dealt major blow as Steve Clarke issues pile up ahead of March friendlies The problem with playing into your 40s is recovery time for muscles and healing of injuries (speed and quality of healing) are both far worse. Craig Gordon is just getting too physiologically old for international football tournaments. Quote

I mean, if players are injured and going to be ruled out of the March friendlies then I'm reluctantly ok with that but if it were just before the end of the season with the World Cup looming then I'd be massively concerned. Goodness knows who'll be our right back. If I'm finding some silver lining it may mean Clarke can look at a couple of players in that position to see how they do. Quote

noctonjock Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Why is it we seem to get so many of our main players out with long term injuries ? Other nations never seem to suffer injuries like we do . Could be without Doak, Hickey , Shankland for the World Cup . It was the same For the Euros Quote

Right now, we have had no confirmation of any player in the squad that has been confirmed of being ruled out of the World Cup through injury & fingers crossed it stays that way. The only big question marks for the ones out injured if they will be back in time for this summer is BGD. Hickey we are unsure what the serverity of the injury is, hopefully nothing too bad. The rest of the players are due back by April or worst case May. Quote

Don't think Angus Gunn is the answer to our problem somehow.Might be wrong but don't think he has played at all this season.Would be one helluva gamble to throw him virtually straight into the World Cup.Really serious problem for us though. Caledonian Craig Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I'd start with Scott Bain in goals in the upcoming friendlies. Featuring regularly for a top six (comfortably) SPL side is the best we have at present in my opinion. Quote
Ally Bongo Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Gordon is saving himself for June and will be our Number 1 Quote

csinclair Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I'll be very surprised if it's not Gunn in goal for both friendlies. He played 4 of the qualifiers with no club football so Clarke clearly trusts him regardless and will see this as an opportunity to get some gametime. Maybe we might see Bain/Kelly involved at some point. With Hickey and Johnston both out and Ralston looking like 4th choice at Celtic, I really hope Clarke goes with Patterson & McCrorie as his RBs for this camp Quote
Johnnyshaker Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I hope Bain gets a run, it'd be a shame to be playing regularly and having a good season but being kept out by someone who isn't playing at all. Especially considering it's not the calibre of someone you'd consider undroppable. Quote
Kev10038 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Robby McCrorie getting games in Denmark. Not sure about the level though. Quote

Really short of any consistent game time for a long time now and his last display for us was more horrific than anything Ralston has come up with Quote
Johnnyshaker Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Ralston is surely relying on several players being injured before he gets in. Hickey, McCrorie, Patterson are all definitely ahead of him. Johnston should also be ahead of him if he gets any Derby game time. Donovan should really be 5th in that list ahead of Ralston. Arguably, unless all 4 of the above are injured. Quote
