Was listening to a Podcast the other day, in it an Australian Fisheries Biologist and Conservationist was taking about Attenboroughs latest offering Ocean. In the film Attenborough calls for a worldwide ban on Trawling, calling it the most destructive method of food production in the world. The promotional adverts show a net being towed along the seabed by a Trawler, the net get's hauled and then you see a large amount of "discards" getting kicked overboard.

What Attenborough doesnt tell you, but the Biologist does, is that the film was funded by an Australian open cast mining company, and that the promotional adverts were staged. The Trawler was a boat charted to drag an obsolete net a few miles off the Turkish Coast. The clip of the net being hauled was from the Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka, and the fish being kicked over the side were fish bought on Boulogne fishmarket by the film makers. They had been caught in the North Atlantic and being sold for human consumption.

I used to like Attenborough, but he has clearly lost his marbles promoting a film like this and needs put out to pasture.

He draws attention to some global probs…… whether he is genuine  or even correct on this , I don’t know.

have you seen seaspiracy on Netflix? Think it might say the same.

I know from a fishing point of view he is completely off the mark, there again he gets paid by the Pew Organisation so what do you expect.

Seaspiracy was complete and utter fiction, its been debunked numerous times by proper marine scientists and conservationists. Theres a great website by an American conservationist at Washington University called Ray Hilborn. It's at sustainablefisheries-uw.org

Its worth a look if your interested in Fisheries.

I have enjoyed his documentaries over the years as I am a nature lover. Have to say though, this is a new low from him as he seemed to be quite a caring and honest person when it comes to natural preservations of our water systems.. Money talks I suppose...

I was the same until a conservationist in South America told me he’s only really respected in the UK. The rest of the world sees him in a different light

Not sure about that, Bjork seemed to be creaming her pants when she made the documentary with him

I can never understand why he is held in such high esteem. All he does is get paid to narrate other peoples words.

Indeed, within about 2 minutes of his name being mentioned the phrase national treasure does always pop up tho. I’m more of a Johnny Morris man myself Attenborough can’t even do a gorilla voice

Attenborough is a fraud. David Bellamy was a real environmentalist. A man with principles. Stood alone in the face of adversity against the climate change cult and was straight to the point

Unlike Attenborough though he never bowed to any billionaire backers to buy him off only the courage to speak the truth. He also never made documentaries in zoos and wild life centres and mislead the viewing public into believing it was in the wild

Attenborough’s fear mongering sold a doomsday apocalypse scenario while Bellamy exposed the falsehoods. One got hero status and knighted while the other got cancelled

Saw her support U2 at Wembley in 1993 and she was great. That was on the back of her huge debut solo album.

Then, I was in a near-empty bar in Reykjavik the last time we played Iceland and she walked in with a friend and sat 5 feet away from me.

Didn't bother her other than to wish her a nice day when she was about to leave (her coat was hanging up right next to me). It wasn't so long after she had battered that photographer in the airport and so I was a wee bit feart.

I like my women a bit bonkers, iv no idea if her voice is unique in her own/first language but it sounds incredible in English. Struggling to think of anybody that sounds like her, The Sugarcubes should have been bigger than just the indie charts as well (timing?) great band
