MLB season and other events

Going to be a slow week waiting for the draw. 😂  … so thinking of other things outside of football. 

Any baseball fans out there, or anyone planning to go to a MLB game during the World Cup?  

I’ve only been to the US once before and went to a NY Mets game. Pretty good fun and we know the yanks are into the whole ‘matchday experience’ gig so it’s a good day out even if you’re not a huge fan of the sport. 
 

What other things outside of football are folk hoping to do in US/Canada/Mexico? … appreciate this may be more meaningful after the draw. 🙂

I've looked through the MLB schedule and quite a few games that have appeal will be on during June. It all depends on where Scotland is based. 

If it's at all possible then I'd go to Fenway and see the Red Sox. I've walked around the area and the stadium but ain't done a game. The entire area and club are such an important part of American Social History that it's deffo on my to do list.

I'm an athletics fan so there will be some track and field to go see for sure. The NCAA season might be over by then but the US championships are usually around June and Eugene Diamond League is around May-June. Then there are one-off events in New York ... so might be able to sort something.

We are going to go to a NY Yankees game or two. Went last year and was seriously impressed. The Yankees stadium is both stunning snd iconic. Tickets cost $12, weather was fab and the atmosphere was great!

Nice one!  Good to get some different ideas. We went to the tennis in Stuttgart during the euros and was good to squeeze in a different sporting event. Extra days between the games in the US should make it less rushed as well.

Yeah, I had a great time at Citi Field. 
Would happily see a couple of different places depending on where we end up playing.  Although, given my 1 game had been the Mets - this obviously means that the Yankees are my arch nemesis. Yankee scum. 😜

Yeah, I had a great time at Citi Field.

I love baseball so if we end up anywhere near a game that’s happening I’ll be going. 

Not sports related but there is a monument in Philadelphia to the Scottish Immigrants who helped to build America. if we play in Philly then I will certainly be visiting that. There are also Robert Burns tributes in Boston, New York, Houston & Atlanta

I went to that game in London a few years ago, a phenomenal game. 
 

17-13 to the Yankees.

This game will be difficult for tickets. Personally I’m going for some mid weeks against some other teams.

New York has two teams so always a game on Mets or Yankees. Same in LA Dodgers and Angels. Every American City in the draw has an MLB team.

The Prefontaine Classic Set For July 4, 2026
With the conclusion of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 and the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, all eyes turn to the 2026 track & field season. The 51st edition of The Prefontaine Classic will take place at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The Prefontaine Classic will once again celebrate with the world’s best athletes on Independence Day weekend for 2026. The action-packed day for track & field fans will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States’ Declaration of Independence in 1776. In the days leading up to the meet, fans can expect the return of the Oregon Track Club All-Comers Meet at The Prefontaine Classic, open to youth athletes ages 12 and under, on Wednesday, July 1. The following evening, athletes of all ages are invited to run or walk one mile under the lights at Hayward Field for the annual Night of Miles.

In front of a sold-out Hayward Field crowd and while celebrating its 50th edition, the 2025 Pre Classic notched 98,121 points to become the highest scoring single day invitational meeting ever recorded by World Athletics. The meet featured two World Records, four Diamond League records, seven Pre Classic records, seven National Records, and eight World Leading marks. 

The only invitational meeting to ever score higher was the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, which spanned two days and served as that year’s Wanda Diamond League Final. World Athletics’ competition performance score is determined by the performances of that meeting’s athletes, so when nearly 300 athletes competed as they did, it is no surprise that the 50th Pre Classic etched its name in history books.

The Diamond League events that will be contested at the 2026 Pre Classic will be announced at a later date.

Priority ticket access, ticket on-sale, hospitality and volunteer information will be released at a later date.

Been to the Blue Jays quite a few times. Their stadium is an easy walk from city centre (for Toronto FC take the train as about an hour) and right next to the CN Tower

San Diego has a breezy climate - even in summers ive been there

And the Blue Jay's stadium has terracing in centre field. You can't buy a ticket for it, you just buy any ticket for anywhere in the stadium and rock up early at the terracing, but once it's full it's full.

16th June - Yankees v White Sox - £13 a ticket, muchos cheap. Loads of availability.

18th June - Red Sox v Blue Jays at Fenway. Iconic ground. Had to buy secondary market, but had to be done.

22nd June - Miami Marlins v Texas Rangers. Again cheap as chips.

Just booked Red Sox tickets for the game against Texas Rangers on the Friday night before Haiti match.
 

Would have preferred one of the Blue Jays dates and not being caught up night before our match but the missus is flying home day after the Haiti match so Friday will be her only chance to go to Fenway, so I’m taking the hit. 😆
 

Booked on resale via VividSeats thanks to the mention above. I tried initially using SeatGeek but forgot it has international restrictions so wouldn’t let me buy. Had same problem a couple of years ago trying to use that. 
 

Will look at sorting to go to a game in Miami as well. 👍

Ticketmaster. Seems no problem. 
 

My Ballpark app is playing up and my Miami Marlins tickets haven’t appeared. Have the confirmation so I’m not too worried. Keeps telling me to verify my email address, which I have done. I’ll email them to sort as I’m not sure if my Red Sox tickets are supposed to come through that app or direct through Ticketmaster.

Yankees tickets came in straight away and are in my Apple wallet.
