DoonTheSlope Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Did anyone actually get KB’d then or was the fear mongering and TDS just working overtime? Quote

Several people actually did lose their ESTA, yes. I know of at least three from Dumfries alone whose ESTA was withdrawn within the fortnight before travel. All 3 did eventually get a Visa and made it to the US as planned. But it cost them full Visa application fees and at least one of them had to go down to London for interview and then order a criminal convictions report from the police before getting last minute clearance two days before travel. Not certain if the other two had interviews also. Not spoken to them direct but I do know they got there. Quote
Caledonian Craig Posted July 3 Posted July 3 One thing that I think turned out to be BS was the fear border control etc would be thumbing through your social media on arrival in search of an anti-Trump post. I saw nobody getting pulled aside at border control or phone examinations. A bit of scaremongering I reckon. Similarly, there was talk that kilt pins would be confiscated as dangerous weapons at the stadiums. Nope I got in with a claymore-style kilt pin and saw others with similar ones at all games. Quote
PSJ84 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I had my kilt pin taken off me when heading back to Boston from Toronto. Apparently it would’ve been fine if I was flying to any other country. Thankfully there was no real sentimentality to it. Quote

Miami was far more bothersome than Boston. Unlike Boston at Miami they told me to take my sporran off which was a hassle so I could get through the scanning machine. Quote

Like you I had no issue with anything kilt related getting into the two Boston games — or Ghana v Panama in Toronto. I don’t even think I was asked to open my sporran. It was purely just coming back into The States from Canada that things were a problem. Should say I put that more down to bad luck than a US issue; my mate had his taken off him on the way to Armenia. Quote
Souness Posted July 3 Posted July 3 The head of the Gibralta F.A. was in front of us at passport control in Newark, and he was taken away for a chat by border control. Other than that, didn't see or hear of anyone facing issues. Quote

That’s because the social media thing was the biggest load of utter pish! Anyone who didn’t go due to the fear of that, or because of politics or shiteing themselves because of ICE, deserved to miss out on the best trip ever. Bellends. Quote
