Heading out on the 12th for 2x weeks. Plan is to just head on a road trip to somewhere cheaper in New England in between Scotland games to try save funds on hotels in the cities. Hoping we get put in Group I, C, E or L If not then i will be looking up internal flghts to get to the other side of the country... Think that’s our plan. Will need to hire some cars to get around. Even some of the massive distances are doable with two of us sharing the driving. Just checked out Houston to KC. 11 hours. Have family in Texas that we would defo be staying with for some of the duration. Now watch all the games being in San Francisco/Seattle and Vancouver. J Quote
Caledonian Craig Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Booked return flights flexible ticket so can change) to New York and will look at internal flights once I know where our fixtures are to be. I am hoping travel-wise that we are based on the East Coast failing that the West coast. The central region by far the least favourable. Quote
Mazziessc Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 East coast does seem best, Group H for example is Miami, Atlanta, Houston five out the six games. All driveable from each other just the one stinker in Guadalajara. Quote

Internal flying around the US is not like Europe. Its pricey! Quote
Silversand Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Have booked flexible flights to NY, currently 16 days apart, but can change depending on where we end up. Travelling on my own initially, as usual family travel companion has now graduated, working full-time with very little holidays 🤨 so he'll fly out with his pal a week or so later. Quote
fraz65 Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 I'm hoping for a west coast draw as LA is a 14 hour flight for me. I'm not sure if I'll bother going if it's central or east. Quote

If the fixtures fell kindly in the group you'd be driving Miami - Atlanta - Houston. Perfectly fine breaking the journey up. I'm staying in Orlando 12 nights and a drive to Miami and back including a match can be done in a day. Drive to Atlanta and back can be done with an overnight in Atlanta. Quote
Craig Fae Hamilton Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Just booked a Single Flight from Toronto to Glasgow on 10th July. Have family in Toronto so will make our way there after Scotland are KO'd. Spend time seeing Toronto and have the peace of mind that we are flying home for £250 each. Going, we will fly directly to where Scotland 1st game is. Maybe take the 50/50 chance and book on the Friday. Maybe wait on the Saturday announcement. Quote
Stubedo Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Pleasantly surprised to see one way flights from West coast to any of the Eastern region venues are c. £120-£130 Might not be after the draw though. Anyway, I sorted out my flights after the Hampden result. Arrive San Francisco 1350hrs on 9th June Depart San Francisco 1930hrs on 6th July Other stuff to be sorted on 5th Dec 🤞 although based on early intel accommodation is unaffordable in the cities so I'll be a wandering minstrel, travelling light, staying in the burbs or camping parks, unless we are Western region based and I'll be staying at my buddy's home in The SF Bay Area. The accommodation issue is crazy. Will defo be out of town and coming in on match day. Praying for earlier KO times so I can actually get home to the digs. Don’t fancy a 2100 KO with thousands of us being stranded in a carpark 2 hours walk through the hood. Either that or dare I say it. Going sober and driving! J Quote
Johnnyshaker Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Sober and driving is probably the only way to do some of the venues; E.g. Vancouver and Kansas. Quote

Unless FIFA pull their fingers out of their bloated arses and force the Americans to lay on public transport for fans. Sounds like they did so in 1994. Read about a fleet of busses leaving Manhattan and ferrying people out to the Meadowlands. J Quote
Toepoke Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 We need more travel entrepreneurs like this guy (from 2012)... Jim Tait, who has died aged 78, was a successful gambler, bookmaker, greyhound trainer, bon viveur and passionate Scotland football supporter who famously drew up plans to charter a submarine to the World Cup in Argentina. He was one of those rare individuals who could mingle with celebrities without getting starry-eyed and his death robs Scottish sport of one of its more Pickwickian characters. He travelled all over Britain's myriad horse racing courses during his life, combining scientific analysis of the betting market with a relish for entertaining those in his company with his rich stream of anecdotes. Mr Tait, who was born in the family home in Blantyre, first worked as a bookmaker, and regularly plied his trade at greyhound tracks, such as in his home town and Wishaw. A peripatetic individual, he eventually graduated from turf accountancy to earning a living as a professional punter, and he was a beetle-browed devotee of the racing and football markets, although he never let his enthusiasm for betting distract him from enjoying sport in many different forms. In 1977, he famously drew up plans to charter a submarine, which was intended to transport Scotland fans from the Clyde to the 1978 World Cup in Argentina – he was hoping to make the journey with 180 passengers at £595 for the return trip – and although the plan eventually fell through, the episode summed up his ability to generate global headlines, while fever surrounded "Ally's Tartan Army". I was in primary 7 for Argentina '78 and remember this submarine story at the time. The original Tartan Navy. Brilliant. Quote
Stubedo Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 They'll soon be rolling out a raft of nostalgic documentaries ... maybe even some new ones 🤔 I expect most on TAMB will have seen this one already but just in case ... it's probably my fave 😁 https://youtu.be/SuQNpR4abIQ?si=SN91eAmRX6or4upV Quote
GaryWood34 Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 So many routes in to America from nations that haven’t qualified if you don’t mind a stop off that means flight prices will remain stable until February / march. Quote

Potted Heid Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Does anyone have any insight in to whats happening with Spirit Airlines (the yellow planes)? We are basing ourselves in Miami and planning on taking internal flights to one or two games. This outfit would be perfect as they are ultra low cheap and have lots of flights from Florida but seems like they may be declared bankrupt? Quote

A quick google says they have filed for bankruptcy for the second time at the end of August There are reports of restructuring and a possible $500 million lifeline I wouldnt be booking for flights months in advance if i was you unless it's that cheap you can afford to lose it Looks as though they are being run by the Accies board ..
